THE SCREED

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a screed, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently checking their texts and MOOsages.

I have ever been a sports fan. But for some odd reason I am feeling a compulsion to buy a copy of ESPN magazine.  I can't imagine why

I have to say that I agree with the NOTES today.....it's a different world, but that doesn't mean it's right OR that we have to put up with it without comment.

Thanks to everyone for the HHW vibes.  Opening night went very well.  The audience was interested and appreciated the show....but I can't say they "liked" it especially....

We lost two people within the first 15 minutes.  A local minister and his wife walked out when one of the characters started talking about homosexuality and incest.....even though everything she said is debunked by other characters onstage....and we lost two people at intermission.

Oh well.

When Eric, the editor of the local paper, came to take photos on Monday night, I told him he would probably get letters about the show:  People upset about some of the language - Leroy says "bitch" - and there is some drinking in one scene.

They will write in about those things....but no one will say anything about the two murders that Rhoda commits.....  You can kill someone, but don't swear or have gin and tonic while you do it!

Prince Charles has had to replace his royal harpist. The unloyal royal harpist ditched her husband and ran off with Bryn Terfel:

I think that theaters should block wi-fi during the performances. But some people have said that is illegal

Coffee!

And Stew Leonard's toasted blueberry waffles slathered in butter and maple syrup.

See?  My needs are simple.

Great screed this morning.  These kinds of things infuriate (or just dishearten) me to the point that I really can't dwell on them for very long.

And DR Jrand64's reports on audience and/or board reaction to content in a 60-year old play.

It's simply astounding.

I appreciate that I live in a rarified atmosphere in the community of theaters we have here.  Audiences are challenged on a fairly routine basis, and to my knowledge we have never suffered anything close to the mind bogglingly stupid antics of the kind of IDIOTS who attend Broadway.

TOD

Got a ton of stuff to watch and don't even know where to begin.  And speaking of theater, there are suddenly FOUR (count 'em) local things this weekend and next, that I either have to get to in order to support friends, or that I just want to see.  Plus, movies I want to go to as well as watch at home.

I guess this wasn't my week to try sleeping.

Good morning, all!  I did not want to get out of bed, so I stayed there until 9:15.  I am moving about and I'll begin laundry shortly. Coffee first.

Good morning, all.

Great screed. I have done that with my phone and am working on getting better at limiting use of it. I don't use it during performances, etc., except to take photos surreptitiously.

I have heard that there are churches where parishioners are encouraged to tweet during the sermon, and their comments are posted on a screen behind the pastor.

I don't think those are Lutheran churches. At least not the Lutherans I know.

I think the harpist got the best in that deal DR SINGDAW.

Yes DR CHAS SMITH, it's pretty amazing what people choose to be offended by.....I think it's the same people who walked out of PIPPIN and a couple of other shows.
