Did some famous last words just go by?

Awaiting the California storm to hit Austin late tonight through tomorrow morning.

In this hind of weather, I love the fact that my house sits at the top of the street.

I don't know if I mentioned this before, but my son, David, and his g.f. are currently vacationing in New Zealand.

She works for the airlines and also has family there, so that always makes these kinds of trips affordable.

I told David to bring me home a Hobbit.

Now comes the research part to see if that idea will work.

A Hobbit would be a nice souvenir, unless one had to feed it.

A few years ago, friends of mine took a "Lord of the Rings" vacation in New Zealand.  The trip was specifically go to places where the movies were filmed.  They had a great time!

Well, I will be out and about today.  My friend David (he and his wife moved to Seattle a few months ago) is in town for the day with nothing to do while his wife is at a baby shower, so we're going to hang out.  I need to be careful of what I eat, but otherwise I'm sure we'll have a fun day.

Have a good day, all!

Hi everyone -  finally got a chance to make a report.  Both dogs have been sick for the past few days.  Leo (10mos) got a bottle of Advil the other night and consumed quite a few tablets and has been in the hospital since Thursday night.  Ben has been dealing with some intestinal stuff, started before the "drug bust" hit on Thursday night, and we're pretty sure he ate some also, but not as much as Leo.  So, I've been nursing Ben back to health.

Please keep us in your thoughts!

OMG-BE WELL VIBES FOR LEO AND BEN!!

There was a scene in the BBC War & Peace in which Napoleon, while threatening one of his minions and planning his Russian campaign, takes snuff and sniffles through the scene.  All I could think of was the coked-up Donald Trump sniffling his lying way through the debates with Hillary.  I thoroughly understand Pierre's assassination plans.

I've been up for an hour - but man, what a rough night - I simply ate too much and it was bugging my tummy.  I probably got six hours of sleep.  Ear isn't better today, so I suspect I'll have to make an appointment tomorrow.

Are places like doctor's offices generally open on Monday, President's Day?  I'm pretty sure they said there's no mail delivery or pick-up.

Get-well vibes in the meantime!

I used to have my ear canals vacuumed because I was getting allergy shots and it was a reaction to the toxicity of what they were injecting me with. The allergens are so high now as spring comes thundering in that I might have to have it done to one ear that has started to clog up.

Went to brunch with friends today. Had a brunch burger with fried eggs, pimento cheese and the best slab of tomato on top.

My friends had a crab omelet and braised short ribs Benedict. There was a side of handmade biscuits with sausage gravy that was perfect, loaded with sage and black pepper.

The chef sent out three bites of lobster croquettes to start. And dessert was a slice of chess pie that was so good, I could have eaten the whole pie even though I was full.

The restaurant was up in Boerne at the inn where Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert honeymooned (don't hold the failure of their marriage against the inn.)

To get there, we had to go past the home where my friends Mickey and Glenn used to live. So, on the way back, Cecil decided to drive past their old place. The new owners were busy, it seems. From the road it looks like they've torn down the ranch house except for the fireplace and are building a two-story place with a rooftop patio. It also looks like they're putting in an 18-car garage where the fig tree and the garden used to be.

It looks promising but also depressing when we thought about all the good times we spent out there. None of plans to tell Mickey what's happening.

Donald Trump's idiot "campaign rally" (oy!) this weekend reminds me of that scene in "Soapdish" where Sally Field's insecure soap star needs to go to a New Jersey mall so her fans can see her and faun over her.

Well, I'm sure he thrilled his white trash supporters there.

Good evening.

I got good reviews at church this morning for my very expressive reading of a children's story.
