Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

Great review - dangling participle and all.....

My guess is the biggest laugh of the night concerns the officer and the handbag......

You really wanna see Lestat, George?

Actually, yes...just to be able to say that I saw it. ;) And that cast:  Carolee Carmello, Hugh Panaro, Drew Sarich, Jim Stanek, and Will Swenson!  I love these people!

Vixter and I saw it, and you sister in law and her girls saw it a couple of weeks earlier .  Former DR Jose was in the orchestra and arranged a backstage meet and greet with Hugh Panaro for my niece.  Unfortunately. Vixter and my tickets were for the closing performance and there were no back stage festivities that day

Plenty of fireworks here, but not at all like what vixmom was describing, and I heard nothing later than around 10 pm or so.  In this neighborhood we heard much more activity on the 3rd than on the 4th.

I think there's going to be something on the ballot this year to ban fireworks within Tumwater city limits.  My niece would LOVE that because of her hearing condition.  Those kinds of sounds (and crowd noises) are physically painful to her...and there's no cure. :(

I wish you the best of luck with that.  Fireworks have been outlawed inNy fir more than half a century and it still looks and sounds like a cross between the Disney fireworks finale and a WWII

This morning I decided to treat the office to ice cream so I pulled out my handy dandy colemancooler and stopped by the ice cream distributor on my way to work.

I picked up a block of dry ice and a case of ice cream bars, vanilla  coated with chocolate and crunchies and a surprise chocolate bar in the center

I'm back from a kind-of last minute trip to NYC.  Found out very recently that there was a Barbra film festival at the Quad Cinemas.

I saw On a Clear Day, What's Up Doc?, Up the Sandbox, For Pete's Sake, A Star is Born, Hello Dolly, Yentl and The Prince of Tides.  The quality of prints varied considerably, but it was fun seeing the movies on the big (well, not that big) screen.

I had a busy first half of the day. A doctor's appointment, then several errands.

At UCLA, they often tell patients to arrive 30 minutes early. When I booked the appointment I questioned this, as there's never been any legitimate reason for it. The receptionist insisted there were a lot of forms to fill out, so I dutifully arrived early. The entire check-in process needed no more than 5 minutes. Such a waste of time! And, of course, parking is outrageous, so we're paying for an extra half-hour at sky-high rates. And they wonder why people are unhappy with their health care. This is just the beginning!

I also saw Hello, Dolly! with Donna Murphy.  I thought she was really great in the role.  She certainly can sing the score better than Ms. Midler.

The doctor was pretty useless. I waited TWO MONTHS for this appointment. It wasn't routine; one of the values on my blood test was abnormally low. The doctor dismissed it--and my symptoms. this is why I go to alternative doctors. They actually do something. My acupuncturist gave me some herbs to take. I think they're helping, but they're kind of slow. I was hoping the MD could give me something that would help quickly. No such luck. I'll stick with the herbs.

I don't think of ON A CLEAR DAY as a flop, but perhaps it was.

While I was in Santa Monica I tried out a new little vegan restaurant. BK would hate it, but I enjoyed my meal. Too bad it isn't more convenient (traffic, parking).

I'm sure that Vixmom is VERY popular around the office.

She's very popular around HHW, too, even without the ice cream bars.

Another great review!

Ditto. And I appreciated the last paragraph: information about wheelchair access, parking, AC, etc.

Now I want an ice cream bar. A vanilla almond Haagen Daaz bar would be just fine.

There was a lot of noise here last night. I actually jumped out of my seat a couple times. It started before dark and was still going on when I went to bed at eleven.

DR Ginny, I'm glad your Izzy's is well loved. No one talks about our Izzy's--and with good reason: it's quite unmemorable.
