Good morning, all! I slept rather well; I remember one long dream involving (I think) Columbus Circle and the song "Let's Begin" from ROBERTA, and another about staging a scene for a film in a room like a library reading room with some of the cast of the Appalachian Christmas show. Lod knows what it all means.

This morning, I have to run some DEAREST ENEMY errands; I'll leave here around 10am and head down to Union Square. On my way home, I'll stop at Toyland to check out the office. In the meantime, I've got notes on 70 songs to write.

More coffee!

TOD: The Uninvited, with "Stella by Starlight"

Is THE UNINVITED your VHS viewing for the weekend?  Isn't that the one with pizza delivery man?

No, THE UNINVITED is about an old coot in a wheelchair who shows up at my door after wheeling himself from Seattle, and I push the wheelchair with him in it down a flight of steps. I always laugh at that part.

If any DRs are thinking of heading down to DC to catch The Music Man at Arena Stage, some performances in May and June just popped up on Goldstar:

Tony-Winning Musical Comedy The Music Man at Arena Stage

What is Goldstar?

I have to say, on the basis of the tv commercials, these new tiny orchestrations for THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS stink.

Had two telephonic conversations with muse Margaret.  First was me wanting to check on a couple of things, plus run three little revisions I wanted to do, all of which she was fine with.  Then she had like eight tiny little things that still bothered her (it's her being my angel and not wanting me to look dopey because I'm editorializing the wrong things).  I fixed all those and she now loves the book.  She'd gone back and read a bunch of it and found it interesting, funny, shocking, and truthful.

I couldn't sleep most of last night listening to the rain.  The road guy is working on the road anyway.  It would have been better if the ground were dryer.

If the guy has problems, Ginny and Richard have a new dryer.

Then the East Coast singer and Lanny arrived and we went and had some lunch, then ran everything in the act.  It's a really good group of songs now and it's going to work splendidly.  Since there's no time for me to really direct her, I gave her general notes to work on.  I also took two ballads and attached them to the songs that followed them, so they don't really have a finish, which worked really well in both cases.

It is getting more difficult to find standard machines.  I chose mine as they had the easiest doors & lids to open, plus the dryer was easier to get into.

Is there a reason why you wanted to get iinto the dryer?

For much of the first part of our trip it rained, as you can see in this photo by the lack of color.

We took a rather unexciting trip down the river with a jeep ride through flower "plantations" back to the dock.  To get there we passed a number of these black pearl shacks/homes.  When we went on our Baltic cruise everywhere we went they were selling amber, this cruise it was black pearls.  We learned a lot about these beautiful pearls & yes I did get a necklace.

The oysters that house the black pearls are the most pampered oysters in the world so I didn't feel bad about getting a pearl.

Jane, did you stop in Fiji on your cruise?

Richard and I went to the library, Hobby Lobby, and to Steak 'n' Shake for dinner.  It's raining and very foggy and we were glad to get home.

I recall well the day my father came home early (must have been a Wednesday or Saturday, his only early days) and found me watching tv.  As daytime tv was not permitted I expected to be in trouble.  Instead he was pleased to find me watching THE RED SHOES.  I was permitted to watch all the classic movies I wanted to.

Surprisingly I did not see my favorite film, CASABLANCA, until I watched it with Keith.  I'm glad though as it is special to us both & very romantic when we watch it.

Not quite yet, DR TCB.  Delivery is scheduled for tomorrow between 4:30 and 6:30pm.

:)

It is almost done.  He has to add additional rock tomorrow.  I can now drive my car if I wish though the road is still somewhat bumpy still & kind of squishy where the work was done.  Hopefully it will hold up & good weather ahead will give it time to recover.

The Paul Gauguin private motu (little island) off Taha was very nice in spite of the rain.  They served an incredible spread of food along with an open bar.  There were vendor's selling beautiful selections of black pears & Tahitian vanilla.  Foolishly we missed many of the activities, such as the vanilla demonstration, due to the rain.

I finally got my snorkel mask to semi work when a big storm moved in.  Used to lightening with black skies Keith called me out of the water.  I think I would have stayed warmer in the water than under the trees attempting to stay dry.  Later I opted not to go back in and exchanged the mask for a better one the next day.  We had a nice time checking out the merchandise & talking to people.

For several months now we have had this series of commercials that are personal stories that end with, "And I'm a Mormon."  Now in the last few weeks we have the same types of stories, but these end with, "And I'm a Phoenix."

What next?
