I guess I am now officially out of the modern comedy loop, at least at the movies. I think of a film comedy like ADAM'S RIB for something sophisticated or THE GREAT RACE for something silly.
The 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN left me totally disspirited. I didn't find it funny. I felt totally out of it in so far as finding anyone appealing or interesting, and overall I felt I wasted close to two hours of my life. (ANother fault - a mindless movie like this is 116 minutes long? Outrageous!) And this made over $100 million at the box-office, was on several best 10 lists, and was give a three star review (out of four stars) by both local movie critics.
And there are talented actors in this: Steve Carell, Jane Lynch, Catherine Keener, Paul Rudd. But they didn't make me laugh here. At all.
