Well, you've read the notes, the notes hung out, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently letting it all hang out and it's an udder delight.

Morning all.

Good morning, all.

TOD: Joan Miro. I'd want to get creative with him or watch him create something to find out if the process was as playful as the end result. Or as joyous.

Good mornng, all! I fear that I am heading into another period of being crippled, perhaps bedbound again, as I was in 2004 and 2008. The symptoms are similar to those from before, and I'm thankful that I kept the crutches. I don't know if it's sciatica, and my doctors sure have no idea! I may need them soon. My only wish, if this is happening again, is that it occurs now, so that the crisis is over by August.
First thing this morning, I have a trip to Kinko's to retrieve the bound scores, which I'll then ship, one to Dublin and one to the Bronx. After that, I've gpt work here on a vocal arrangement for ROBERTA, more of THE ONLY GIRL (will it ever end?), and whatever fresh gell rolls down the pike.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Good Vibes for Everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DR MBarnum wrote yesterday about THE AMAZING RACE:
Enjoyed last nights THE AMAZING RACE. I got a bit teary eyed a couple of times. Loved the Bollywood dancing....(the blonde) Rachel was amazing! I bet she could get a job in Mumbai film industry.
I got sick and tired of the Border Patrol guy constantly saying that only woman can dance...dancing is for women, men can't dance...blah, blah, blah...obviously he didn't see that half of the dancers in front of him were men.
I also loved watching the Bollywood dancing. And yes Rachel was very good. I think she mentioned that she had done a lot of dancing in high school. She picked up the moves very quickly.
I am also not liking the Border Patrol guys. And not just because they keep making remarks like the ones you described. They were so fixated on Rachel and her partner not U-Turning team Big Brother. "They are dead to us". OMG get over it! I hate when people harp on such stupid things. Ridiculous. They are not coming across very well at all.
My 2 year old niece Jadie is very funny. My birthday is coming up. And I guess she made something for me. Yesterday she announced "Auntie I made you something for your birthday. I will get it for you." So i explained it was not my birthday yet and she should wait. "But I want to!" she said. Good thing my sister hid it where she couldn't find it. Because she was planning to go search for it.
Her birthday is coming up in 3 weeks. She doesn't really understand the concept of when a birthday is. She knows my birthday and my aunt's birthday comes before hers. But she is ready and anxious (especially for her own)!
Vibes for DR ELMORE.
Since I am feeling better, I am going to do my Monday banking and shopping today.
-
I shall have to THINK about the TOD and see some other responses.....
-
I have picked up the scores from Kinko's, and now I have to wrap them for their safety. I'll take them to the Lincoln Center post office, since it's much faster and more efficient than my local one.
There is an absolutely fantastic rendition of AFTER MIDNIGHT by (yes, you guessed it) Sergio Mendes & Brasil '77 (from their first album with the "new" updated group name). It's in 7/4 and features a knockout brass arrangement, including a smokin' sax solo, by Tom Scott. It's probably on YouTube. Mrs. Pat Proft, the incredibly gorgeous Karen Philipp, sings lead.
Tuesday morning greetings! It's a beautiful day in SW Ohio and I'm off to West Chester for lunch with my friend Becky. Haven't seen her since before Thanksgiving and we have a lot of catching up to do.
I had a stroke at the post office: because my package to Dublin weighed 10 ounces more than the first class limit of 4 lbs, the postage was $52.40. If I'd taken the package home and packed it as two scores, not one. I could have sent both first class at around a total of $30.00. When the asses running the PO complain about losing money, my attitude is you fools deserve to fold for gouging your customers.
Following that, I got on the No 7 bus from hell to come home: the new buses, tyo be kind, suck. They have two levels that are not easy to maneuver when the bus is moving, the aisles are narrower and this one was blocked by an old man whose walker took up 2/3 of the aisle space just inside the door. Once you stumbled over the damned walker - why the hell can't these damend things collapse? - Igot to the back of the bus to find an old lady and two teenage boys - I assuem they were her grandsons - blocking the steps. I stumbled over them, climbed the 3-4 stairs and took a seat. At 79th Street I moved down to the back door to get off at the next stop. Some workman with his equipment on a two-wheeler was blocking the door. Then, when we got to my stop, th asshole driver drove by it, jerked to a stop, throwing the passengers about, and I got off, yelling "Did you forget there was a stop here?"
I'm not leaving the apartment again today.
Yes a beautiful day here as well.
It's warmed up since my trip at 7:45 and quite beautiful here. I'm still crabby, though.
Dear DR Elmore, you should come and sit with me in my backyard. There are butterflies flying all around, and there are lots of flowers in bloom. You couldn't stay cranky long.
For those who may be interested, IFC (The Independent Film Channel) has been showing some wonderful B monster movies on Saturdays....last weekened, I am told, they showed HORROR OF PARTY BEACH....next up, THE BRAIN EATERS!
When I was a kid I would try to watch THE BRAIN EATERS on TV, but could never get past the film's credits, it scared me so much!
Had I known that the monsters were portrayed by little fuzzy bedroom slippers, I'd have better been able to make it through the film.
I'm with DR Elmore, I don't want to leave my house either. Woke up rather confused on the day, since I didn't work at church this weekend and we had a Grease rehearsal on Monday instead of Tuesday this week. I guess I'll clean up and work on the garage. Can't it be June 8, please.
In other domestically oriented news: I have spent the past two hours with a dryer vent cleaning guy here at the new house trying to discern where our dryer vent is supposed to vent to. I discovered quite by accident a couple of weeks ago that one of the previous owners had punched a hole through a sheet metal plate in the garage which is the back wall to the utility room, and that the dryer was venting into the garage (with lint, et al.). I searched for two weeks by myself to try to find an exterior dryer vent and couldn't, so had this guy come today, and what do you know--he couldn't either. We are assuming when they did the huge addition here they probably walled off the original dryer vent and punched a hole in the sheet metal covering in the garage to give the air somewhere to go. Oy.
Oh my yes, lovely photos DR LAURA!! I feel better already.
DR MBARNUM - you don't see the house slipper/pipe cleaner monsters for a long time - but you hear them munching brains several times before they make their appearance, which is scarier than what they eventually turn out to be.
Nice pictures! It's nice seeing warm weather. We have rainy and cool weather. That hot weather at the beginning of March was a bad tease. Because since then it has been cool and not hot! I've hardly been on my bike and it's already the end of April!
Those posts should cover me for the next week!
I could sit in that garden and have a great time, DR Laura.
I would love to have you, Elmore.
-
Laura, do you have problems with mosquitos because of the pond?
No, I have fish. And the dragonfly nymphs eat the mosquito larvae, too.
Arizona Game and Fish put some native fish in my pond. So now you know why The Game Warden was a recurring character for a while.
I would love a plate of Dutch meatballs.
-
Are they like the meatballs you get at Ikea?
I have no idea, Ben. That's just something I heard my Dutch friend say. I thought it was quote-worthy.
I've been chopping green pepper and onion for spaghetti sauce. So far, it's quite tasty.
Sometimes I joke with my 6 year old niece about Santa and the Easter bunny. At Easter time I asked her if she saw the Easter bunny. She said no. But that her mom had. :)
I"m not sure when you are supposed to tell kids these things. But they had some Lindt easter eggs on their table before Easter. And then those same eggs were not on the table anymore but they were in her Easter basket. I asked my niece about that thinking maybe she would put it together. :)
DR Laura's garden - aaaaahhhh, very relaxing...
Back from some pasta, banking, and picking up no packages even though I know there will be some - I hate that amazon uses nothing but Ontrac now - Ontrac just never delivers before four, so I'll have to go back there, I guess, unless I just wait until tomorrow.
Very nice DR GEORGE.
Maybe DR DOUG R took photos to share.
The spaghetti sauce was a huge success: quite tasty! I think I'll do some work on THE ONLY GIRL now. almost finished, but it is taking me forever. I never thought i wouldn't dread proofing a Victor Herbert score, but this is torture. Not the music itself; second rate Victor Herbert is better than a lot of first class stuff today, simply because of its grace and symmetry and way around a good tune. The copy work is so poor, it'shard to muster enthusiasm: knowing how to use Sibelius or Finale doesn't necessarily mean that you should.
I love all the photos of the garden.
I can't believe how cold we are going to be tonight!
DR Elmore, I made some sauce yesterday. I really needed to make it from scratch but I cheated. I used a bottle type and doctored it up with more garlic, a can of mushrooms, some ground meat, onions and a touch of sugar (Not a lot). I thought it tasted good.
So glad to see TCB on the board! I do hope you are doing much, much, much, scratch that, SUPER better!
It wasn't a gift. It was something she made. Probably a picture. When i told my sister what had happened she said that she knew that would happen. Which is why she did not tell her where she hid it. I should have let my niece go upstairs just to see if she could have found it :)
You want the older one to believe as long as possible as not to tell the younger one. ;) When Bryan said there wasn't an Easter bunny I said if he didn't believe it wouldn't come. He kept his mouth shut about Santa. One day Craig asked Keith if Santa was real so Keith answered honestly. While Craig was fine I about cried in front of him. Christmas was never the same for me after that.
I had a really bad headache last night so had to go to bed very early. And i woke up in a bad mood. I hate that.
I got approved for another book on netgalley. And there was no kindle button (frustrating and i wish it would say this before you request). Anyhow you can download it to your computer. But there was a problem. And it frustrated me so much (it should have been so simple). Anyhow the girl at netgalley talked me thru it and finally i got it on my computer.
But now i would like to transfer it to my kindle by hooking up my kindle via usb cord. But for some reason i am having no luck. I know people who have done this before. I keep trying to put the file in my kindle folder. I just can't figure out what i am doing wrong. :(
It wasn't a gift. It was something she made. Probably a picture. When i told my sister what had happened she said that she knew that would happen. Which is why she did not tell her where she hid it. I should have let my niece go upstairs just to see if she could have found it :)
A handmade gift. :)
I bet you were shocked to learn that! You do know the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus are not real?
WHAT?
Sometimes I joke with my 6 year old niece about Santa and the Easter bunny. At Easter time I asked her if she saw the Easter bunny. She said no. But that her mom had. :)
I"m not sure when you are supposed to tell kids these things. But they had some Lindt easter eggs on their table before Easter. And then those same eggs were not on the table anymore but they were in her Easter basket. I asked my niece about that thinking maybe she would put it together. :)
You want the older one to believe as long as possible as not to tell the younger one. ;) When Bryan said there wasn't an Easter bunny I said if he didn't believe it wouldn't come. He kept his mouth shut about Santa. One day Craig asked Keith if Santa was real so Keith answered honestly. While Craig was fine I about cried in front of him. Christmas was never the same for me after that.
I feel like at 6 1/2 she should know that there is no Easter bunny, shouldn't she?
No. Maybe she doesn't want to know or she would have connected the candy dots. ;) When Craig found out we told him not to tell his friend's that still believed.
I remember being very clever & catching "Santa" delivering the gifts. No one saw me & I didn't tell. I thought it was more fun believing. I was much younger than my brother & sister & was only protecting myself.
DR Jane I guess i just wonder at what age the rest of the kids in her class will know. I remember my sister's niece being very old and she still believed. And her friends sort of made fun of her.
Thank you DR's John G, Danise, and TCB.
My niece was angry that everyone lied to her about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. WHY??, she wanted to know.
Good question, I thought. :-\
Visited Pembroke Castle today which dates back to the 11th century. Fascinating place to expore, full of steep winding steps and dark passageways.
That is way to cool!!!A few weeks ago, I ordered a new keyboard and mouse for myself and it just arrived! Here's the picture from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Impecca-KBB500C-Bamboo-Handcrafted-Keyboard/dp/B003VOOOKY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335296306&sr=8-1):
It's really cool and has a very nice touch. And the mouse does, too. :D
That is way too cool!!!
I thought it was a joke. 8)
It's not! I have it hooked up to my computer here at work and I really like it!
I don't know how old he was, but the son (Brett) of a coworker (Kitty) actually got into a fight with a classmate because Brett still believed in Santa Claus and everyone else knew the truth...and Brett didn't believe them.
VIBES FOR DR ELMORE~~~~~~~~~
And the season is officially announced!! (http://www.paplayers.org/2012-2013-season/)
I'm not sure if DR MBarnum watches SMASH. But just after the halfway point there was an elaborate Bollywood number (you could watch it online at nbc.com). I still love this show.
This is why parents should tell there children to keep quiet once they know. :)
A much younger kid than I spilled the beans to me when I was about six or seven. I ran home crying and told my mother, who in turn phoned the little boy's mother and read her the riot act.
-
I don't remember how or when I found out.
-
And on that note (F-natural), I'm going home.
Be back later.
We had a nice long talk with our regular vet. I feel very lucky to have her. We are not going to go with chemo when the odds of it working are only 50% and then for an average of 4 months. She told us what, down the road, she can do to make him more comfortable. If she is in town she will be available to us on weekends.
Tiiiiired. Picked up the package. Sitting on the couch and dozing seems to be the order of the day and the day of the order.
My nasty neighbor David told me there was no Santa and no Easter bunny while we were washing paintbrushes in my first grade class room. I wasn't sure if I could believe him. The next Christmas (now in second grade) I only told santa what I wanted for christmas until the evening of Christmas eve. Apparently my uncle had to go all over Des Moines to find a Chrissy doll on Christmas eve. He succeeded, but I never really believed after David told me
-
Jane so sorry, but it sounds like you have a wonderful vet. Vibes and prayers for you, Keith and Sherlock
-
I'm sorry, Jane. But I agree with your course of action. I'm glad your vet was honest with you. I had a vet that kept convincing me to put off that final decision with more treatments that never seemed to work.
It was 89 degrees here today.
Tonight a lightning arrester blew on a power station. Our power was out for a little over an hour. It's really bizarre when there is no storm and the power goes. At least it's back on now
-
They arrest lightning there now? How outre!
-
Have you ever had to defend lightning? ;)
A guess....there wasn't any lightning though, it just blew up.
If lightning has enough money, I will defend it :)
Listening to music. Watched two motion pictures on Blu and Ray
