"The Boys: The Sherman Brothers' Story"
I'm sort of surprised that I haven't seen anything about it in the various Disney newsletters I get. -Or maybe I did, and just overlooked it somehow. Angela Landbury is listed as a cast member.

Well, I'm afraid my days of sleeping until nine are over - probably for the next year because, yes, the jerks who own or have bought the property (although no sale sign has ever been posted there - maybe the people died and the house went into foreclosure or got sold off without an actual sale - one never knows because one has never actually seen actual people there, save for the low-lifes who were camping out) are clearly doing a tear-down, so now not only do we get to have yet another awful blight on this once-charming neighborhood, but I get the joy of awakening to what feels like a five point earthquake because they've got one of those huge bulldozers in the front yard, going back and forth and forth and back and coming a little too close to my house. Once they get the house down and level the ground, at least that thing goes away - I think. But the construction will go on for six months to a year, as it always does. And then these jerks, these rich, entitled jerks, will just waltz in to their new home, not having been there for any of the construction or noise or caring that they've made miserable their neighbors' existence during that time. It's especially annoying for people who work at home a good deal of the time - you know, people like me.

Just had a nice conversation with the tear-down people. There was a phone number on the truck and I called it. She told me the half-block long truck will be gone by the end of the day and apologized for it. She also said their part of the job is done by mid-next week - they're only doing the tear-down. So, maybe the actual building won't start for a while.

I must say I have been largely underwhelmed by the image quality on the STAR TREK BDs.
Have I mentioned that my sister attended the University of Wyoming with Mr. Cheney and insists he was even weirder back then. I don't know if I should mention this, as it links me with the Cheneys in a way, but the only scholarship foundation larger than the Kauffman one at the University of Wyoming is the Cheney one. I will say that ours is specifically for minority students, which means the one minority student per year who attends the University of Wyoming gets a rather large windfall. ;)

Yep, I endured a year of that when they bulldozed the block next to me (four two story houses) to make way for the condo complex they built. Looks lovely now, but it was hell on earth for 1+ years. And not just noise and shaking, but streets blocked with their machinery (my garage entrance was on the side street where the construction was going on). Truly a nightmare.

Had a nice lunch with lots 'o talk about AMERICAN IDOL and the '24' season finale. We usually talk RESCUE ME, but a couple of the guys hadn't watched this week's episode yet, so we couldn't discuss it.

When I got in, I watched LICENCE TO KILL, the most dour of the James Bond films. I really liked Timothy Dalton as Bond, but this one was a very dark revenge story, and the villain a mere drug lord kind of paled next to some of the great supervillains of the older Bonds. It's longer than it needed to be, too.
But those truck stunts at the climax of the film are stupendous, worth the wait.
-
I had time to sample the two commentaries and to go through the deleted scenes. Still much more work to do on this one tonight.
-
Oh, and the Blu-ray looks just wonderful. My DVD of LICENCE TO KILL is slightly soft and has some processing problems, but this transfer is clear as a bell and rock steady with no aliasing or moiré to be seen, and there were plenty of places where it could have cropped up, but it never did.

When I was in DC, he and I spent an afternoon looking at a lot of the early KATE manuscripts.
It that anything like etchings?
Only in your dreams!

If, while folks are living, we celebrate "Birth"days, why is it that we don't celebrate "Death"days for those have moved on but whom we wish to remember?

"The Lay of the Land."
Gosh darn it! My publicist wasn't supposed to release that until tomorrow!!!
Hopng it will lead to work?
Yes, the "ideal" job...just laying around all day, eating "Bon-Bons".

Okay, here's today's smut from the VILLAGE VOICE! Who do you think he's talking about?
http://www.villagevoice.com/2009-05-20/columns/a-shocking-pile-of-blind-gossip-items/1
I don't know any of the answers!

Speaking of gossip, i just got back from the corner market, where I waited at the counter with Carlos Leon, ex boy-toy of Madonna.
Did you offer to buy his meat?

Good Afternoon!
So... I guess I'm finally heading back to NYC tonight... :-\

He was involved with Madonna: you can get STDs from looking at her.

As for all those blind items... Well...
I believe I know the "answers" to some of those faux-queries.
Of course, maybe I just need to conveniently end up sitting next to Ms. Musto again at his favorite not-so-secret, not-so-private, but-ever-so-cozy resto in the West Village, and just overhear the answers. And/or just ask him for them.

Well, I was just offering the suggestion of PMs if Jose didn't want to post the specifics in a public forum.

As far as the answers go, if Jose does get some and "PMs" 'em, I hope he multi-addresses them!

One can never be too careful....

What I'm confused about is that someone said a Hainsie/Kimlet was mentioned in those gossip notes.
-
Oh, and the Blu-ray looks just wonderful. My DVD of LICENCE TO KILL is slightly soft and has some processing problems, but this transfer is clear as a bell and rock steady with no aliasing or moiré to be seen, and there were plenty of places where it could have cropped up, but it never did.
Did they also have the unedited version of the film?

It was probably Jose. Self-promotion is often the best way.

Well, since DR elmore was the DR who posted the link...
Just sayin'...
-
So...
I was sort of set to head back tonight, but it looks like my brother, Mike, will be heading down to Richmond on Saturday with his kids - my nieces and nephews... And since I haven't seen them since Christmas... Well...
-
Laura, I was KIDDING.
-
I didn't know which one of us led such an exciting life. I knew it wasn't me.
-
I've had my lunch meeting, done my annoying errand, I've been to Fry's where I made the decision to return my 55 inch Samsung LED, to be replaced tomorrow with a 55 inch Samsung LCD. While the LED had a really stunning picture, it has a weird sort of thing that happens when your viewing room is completely dark or there's a completely black scene on the screen (like a complete fade out, or a scene in a really dark room where the edges are black) - there's kind of a dim flashlight beam that pops up on all four corners - I didn't really notice it until I read about it on the AVS, but boy is it there at night in a dark room and I find it annoying enough to not want to live with it. I haven't seen any such thing on the LCD and the image, to my eyes, color-wise, brightness-wise, and sharpness-wise, looks the same on both - so it's really the energy saving thing that I won't have. So, the new LCD will be here by two-thirty tomorrow and my blacks will be blacks with no flashlights.
-
I have noticed a very slight brightening at the corners in all LCDs I've owned thus far. But it hasn't really bothered me.

5. The Finale Song : The down-home feel of 'No Boundaries' set Allen up for a win. He knocked it out of the park because of his ability to really connect with the song's lyrics about overcoming obstacles and persevering.

It is raining, which is not something we say in Phoenix in May very often.
-
It is raining...
Are you preparing for flash floods?
der Brucer
-
I don't think it will rain quite that much. But it is very nice. The flood storms come in July and August.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
I'm watching A Clear and Present Danger.
-
It's very clear and pleasant, save for the flashlights at the edges of the TV.
-
However, they've already told me that if I end up thinking the new one is not as good, I just send the new one back and keep the old.
-
I will say that Fry's is the best.
-
DR JOSE is suddenly younger than springtime in his avatar.
-
Okay rehearsal.....I had to do "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" and I did the hat trick successfully - the lyrics less so.
-
I watched the first FOUR episodes of the continuing story of Peyton Place. I guess it's hard to see now what all the excitement was about - but boy it certainly was THE show to watch when I was a freshman in high school.....
And Ryan O'Neal and Chris Connelly and Barbara Parkins and Mia Farrow did become "overnight" stars.
Lots of intrigue in the just these first four shows.....I remember being sort of bored by the grown up carrying on.....especially Julie and George Anderson....so seeing those parts that I sort of tuned out makes it almost like seeing a new show.
Ryan O'Neal - so handsome....and such good writing.... Still one of my favorite shows, and I am happy to have it on DVD at last.....I have pre ordered the next set....due in July!
-
Although I suppose to some - PEYTON PLACE would be a tired old show.
-
Work tomorrow....oh well.
-
Good evening
yesterday I had my PET scan and tonight at 7:17 PM my cell phone rang and it was my doctor
I am pleased to annouce that I am 100% in remission - there were no signs of any cancer cells!!

After a day that started at 4:00 AM and included driving a total of 7 hours and attending a seminar only to return to find something upsetting and unexpected at the office I am grouchy. I was mad as hell, but rather than filing a reply and saying what I really think, I decided to sleep on it. I've calmed down and am glad I waited. Tomorrow I'll be much more professional about it
-
Tomorrow DN David, who had the heart valve replacement, gets his gall bladder out. His heart is doing fine, but his gall bladder has been causing him all sorts of problems. Vibes would be appreciated again...they worked wonders last time

More vibes to Cilla's DN David

No. There is only the theatrical cut that was rated PG-13.

The only thing he knocked out of the park was his own voice during that often strained and vocally bankrupt rendition.

I got the rest of the bonus features completed on LICENCE TO KILL. There weren't quite as many as with some of the other Bond Blu-rays. The "making of" documentary was the best of the bonuses (the recent one; the EPK one that came out at the time of the film's premiere is a puff piece extraordinaire.)
-
Next, I watched another episode from the Season 2 box set of NCIS. In this one, Tony inhales a powdery substance that turned out to be pneumonic plague which he contracts. A very tense and yet tender episode.
-
Next, I pulled out the SOUTH PACIFIC Blu-ray and watched the documentary on the stage and screen versions of the play. It is 90 minutes long, but it's in high definition, so I wanted to watch it.
Ted Chapin mentions that SOUTH PACIFIC won 10 Tony Awards. I don't think that's right. DOLLY won 10 which was the record for decades until THE PRODUCERS won 12. Seems like the last time I looked, SOUTH PACIFIC won 9, but maybe I'm misremembering.
-
And I ended my evening watching about an hour and a quarter of tonight's UGLY BETTY. Really loved the first episode tonight. It was sweet and romantic and filled with yearning and angst. I still have most of the second episode to go.
-
I got a bunch more review discs in the mail today, but the earliest isn't due until June 2, so I still have time to finish the pile I am currently working on.
-
Vibes to David. And also to Cillaliz for whatever went wrong.

It's been a long day, so I think it's time I headed downstairs and went to bed.
Good night!

I was going to do jail visits on my way to visit my parents on Saturday. I'm thinking that maybe I'll just cancel it and take the weekend off.
-
Good Evening!
Greetings from the bus, Today's Bus, to be exact.
We're due to leave at 12:30, but that departure time always seems to have some wiggle room either way. However, this driver always manages to make the trip in under six hours... Wheeeeee!!!!
*I called my brother, and it turns out he doesn't have the kids this weekend... Well, not until Sunday night, so... :-\
-
DR vixmom - Of course, now I'm crying tears of joy. On the bus. ;)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
*Now be sure to take this upcoming holiday weekend as a holiday! Rest is great way to celebrate!
-
DR Cillaliz - You be sure to take this holiday weekend as a holiday too! ;)
-
I've been awake since 4:30 AM and have had a very long day... Think I'll go get some sleep

Thanks DR Jose. I'm going to. I'm going to the lake and spend a few days with my parents. The girls will have their usual sitter. I'm looking forward to helping my mom get everything ready for the summer. We'll also go to an annual flea market and just hang out around the lake.
-
Hurray for the Vixmom!!!

I guess "down-home feel" must be a euphemism for "crappity-crap-crap".

Thanks for the Vibes DR Jose. Hopefully this will do the trick and Dave can recover. Jhvw and his parents all have colds and are pretty exhausted. It's been quite stressful for them all.

*Although, I will say that I was hoping that Adam would have smiled at least once during "No Boundaries". It would have cut the intensity, in a good way.
