Today was a therapy day with Erik. Then groceries. My favorite food store is conveniently right across the street.

I have had favorite food stores a short walk away but never that close.

Finally home.  Had a wonderfully productive rehearsal for the musical - have blocked thirty pages in two days (out of eighty) - tomorrow we'll probably do another fifteen or twenty.  While the cast learned music for three hours, Kay and I went for a bite and I completely revised two scenes that would not work as written.  Who knows what the authors will think but I'm hoping they like it.  We have strong reasons for every change we've made, and the producer is very much on our side.  I'm hoping they understand that we're just trying to clarify and have it be smooth - their basic story points and most of their dialogue remains, with just a few new lines here and there to smooth transitions.  When actors come and say they can't act a line or a beat there's usually a reason they're having trouble and if you can't help them understand because the beat or moment is wrong, then it has to change.

Then it was auditions.  Again, out of ten people, three showed up.  But I liked one of them very much and I believe he has accepted.

Then Doug Haverty and I went for a quick bite (I had a bowl of chili) and went over some stuff.  Then I came home and I'm trying to catch up with everything.

Well Jane, there were two places on the water.  There was Anthony's a couple of years ago and Harbor Lights last year.  Both times with George ( and Keith, of course).

Today we went to Anthony's.  I had a great bowl of chowder, and a really nasty cheeseburger.

Overall, I enjoyed the CD.  I could see what BK was talking about especially during the Overture.  It sounded like it was recorded in a small box.  I thought the mix was better once they got to the vocal numbers.

Hearing "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" always makes me tear up. Not only because I did the number, but becaus it was the first production number I ever saw on Broadway.  I was so blown away.

Well, I like Bette Midler, so I may have enjoyed the CD more than non-Midler listeners.

Not all of them, but I will tomorrow.  And I'm still waiting to hear from the Washington Center.  The guy who answered said that he'd call today (which he didn't) whether he found it or not.  I'll definitely call him back.

But like I said, I bought it used, so it wouldn't be a great financial loss.  Just quite the inconvenience. :P
