Back from rehearsal.  As I left, I noticed my back tire was looking very bad, as in lost a lot of air.  I'd noticed it last night leaving the theater and I'd put some air in it.  So, I had one of those horror drives, trying to make it to a gas station before it went completely flat.  Naturally, traffic on Ventura Blvd was out of control and it took me fifteen minutes to go less than a half-mile.  What is wrong with this city?  I got there in time - the man took the tire off and like a homing pigeon immediately found the problem - a nail - a nice big fat ugly nail - he removed it, plugged it, and was able to save the tire.  By that time, I was so behind schedule that I just didn't have the energy to go to the book fair - I wouldn't have gotten home until after five and would have had no time to relax.  So, for the first time in ages, I probably won't make it down to the fair, unless I try to go for an hour tomorrow morning.

Back from seeing CURIOUS GEORGE with my sister and my grandneice Taylor. Very cute movie and I laughed many times. They did a perfect job of capturing the cuteness, innocence, and retro look of the books. They did not add any hip humor or crude jokes nor did they have the monkey talk.

This was a perfect movie for the kids...and it had some very touching moments and we all really enjoyed it!

After the movie we went and had some Italian gelato...Taylor had strawberry and I had peach.

Then they drove me to my house and they came inside for awhile because Taylor wanted to scratch Freddy on the head.

We loved "The Constant Gardener" Michael.  Great book. Great screenplay. Much food for thought.

Hello.  I watched that snowboarding thing last night, I almost fell out of my chair when she fell over.

I felt bad for her when I saw her just standing at the finish line by herself while everyone was hugging and kissing the  gold meal winner.  When finally one of her people came over it looked like they were telling her off.

Dr Tomovoz, I'm sitting in my studio cleaning up files on my computer and listening to the many Judi Connelli gems you sent me (again!) and I just love her sound, her tone, her arrangements, and how soothing her presentation is.  What a gem Australia has.  Thank you so much, (again!)

And yes, I am mourning the closing of "The Woman in White" this weekend in NYC and later on this month in London.  I do have a picture of the marquee that I took when I was in London for 4 hours last summer.  I guess it was not meant to be.

Today the Vixfamily went a browsing.  We wandered through IKEA , stopped int he cafe and had swedish meatballs for lunch.

Then we wandered through BestBuy where the Vixter fell in love with a television the size of our garage door

Then a trip through Costco where we sampled pretzel sticks dipped in chiocolate and then rolled in crushed Heath bars.........oooh so good... noI didn't buy any

I did however decide to take the lazy way out of dinner tonight and bought a rotisserie chicken

MAtthew: Judi often referred to by friend Peter (her pianist) as Norma. She is a total Diva at home and so insecure!!  She was a wonderful Mrs Lovett for the Oz Opera.
Her significant other is very tolerant!!

I have no idea what a Heath Bar is - but nevertheless rolling in them does not sound such a bad thing!

Oh, my, I hope DR Ben and his ever lovin' Anthony are still speaking to me!

A Heath bar is a crunchy toffee bar, covered in milk chocolate.

DR Tomovoz - Heath Bars used to be made in Robinson, Illinois.  My aunt was married to a man who'd grown up there and his mother would send "factory seconds," broken, odd-shaped pieces of the toffee, double-dipped in chocolate.  A yummy childhood memory.

Well, I've had my dinner - some more of sausage and peppers from last night - washed the dishes, and now it's time for me to get ready to head back down to VA in a few.

At least that's the plan for now.  :)

DR Matthew - Have a good time assembling the Crepe Cake.  Thankfully, that's the "fun part". As you mentioned earlier, making the crepes is the tedious part of the process.  *Next time, if you're pressed for time, there are some pretty good pre-made ones in the grocery stores now. :)

Takashimaya here in NYC sells a crepe cake in the tea room that made by another bakery here in the City.  It's actually a very light and refreshing dessert with the filling basically a light pastry cream flavored with Japanese citrus, yuzu.
