Title: TARDY
Post by: bk on April 19, 2006, 12:20:17 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes were tardy and yet you were not tardy reading them, and now it is time for you to post until the tardy cows come home.  To it, I say.

And not another post until 7:35am! I'm here, you can't bitch slap me!!!

I don't have any questions for anyone nor do I have anything of great interest to report. I look at my desk full of work and realize that I must not linger here because the work will not complete itself.

I will be back

No word of the day?  Yet?

It would be nice if my Criterion DVD's arrived today.....we will see.

Just to start.....what is everyone's favorite Albert Finney performance?  I watched THE ENTERTAINER on Monday night, and there he was looking so very young as the son of Laurence Olivier.....

SCROOGE for sure....and TWO FOR THE ROAD.....

Re: IDOL last night, I thought most were pretty good. But I was surprised by Chris. Was definitely not expecting that.

I did think Katharine was very good. And thought they were very harsh on kellie. I love that song! ( i knew simon would hate it).

I don't really think the bottom 3 will depend that much on the performances, since people already have their favorites.  I would guess ace, elliot, and paris would be in the bottom.  I really think chris, taylor and kellie are the most popular. And i think the judges will have saved katharine. But i guess kellie could be bottom 3.

I really think ace is going home.

Re: something DR CP said about not understanding how anyone can say they love their kids/pets/friends more than themselves.

I disagree re: kids. I don't think it means that you don't love yourself (just because you love them more). But I can certainly 100% see how many parents would say this. And I think it's completely right.

Good morning!

Until five minutes ago, it has been raining since 8 a.m. Still gray out, but it's pleasantly cool and I'm sure the clouds will clear and we'll have a lovely afternoon.

However, since it's so wet, I've already been in the treadmill knowing I won't go walking, and I'll go back to it again later today.

I agree with you about voting for IDOL, DR Jennifer. I don't think performance has as much to do with it now as the fan bases the favorites have already established. I vote for Elliott until he's eliminated, and then I'll probably switch to Chris.

Kellie is very popular; her line was very busy last night on the East Coast with her fans doing damage control in case she lost some support. I don't think her getting ahead of the music will destroy her chances of staying on the show. Also, she took her mistakes in stride, apologized for them, and was harder on herself than the judges were actually. I'd say Paris is the more vulnerable of the two though her line was the busiest last night which surprised me.

I am looking forward to the return of ALIAS tonight (two back-to-back episodes).

potential spoilers - - - - -- - - -

I am SO happy to see that Lena Olin and Greg Grunburg and Bradley Cooper are bringing their characters back to the show for these final episodes. I don't like that the evil Francey will return, too, but that's another matter. I think when they've shown us someone is dead, it should remain that way.

On the other hand, if they can explain their way out of it with a measure of invention (a la Michael Vaughn), I am flexible enough to buy into their scenario of these people coming back. But DON'T bring back Vaughn's wife from season three!

Fans of INVASION are reminded that it returns tonight as well! I doubt it'll be picked up for another season, so I'm going to enjoy these last episodes as much as possible.

On the OLD ABC (the network that allowed ALIAS to continue to run despite tepid ratings because they had no big hits), shows like INVASION and IN JUSTICE and EYES (from last season) would have been renewed due to their inventiveness and great writing and acting. But now that ABC is a major ratings player, they want a slate full of hits and shows on the bubble don't usually get a second chance. (They're a tiny bit more forgiving of lower rated comedies than dramas.)

more potential spoilers - - - - - -- - - -- - - - -

Again, all these returns of fan favorites have been public knowledge since the series ending announcement was made back in December, some have been shown in the promos for the show's return for a couple of weeks now, and there was even a publicity picture in this week's TV GUIDE with all of the people I mentioned except Vartan. But some folks here don't scour the internet and entertainment magazines like I do. One of the curses of retirement.

I will watch TAR and American Idol "live", and tape Alias.

And again re: American Idol.  Although I didn't get to watch it perfectly (i was with my baby niece) it did seem like the judges praised most people (although simon dissed a couple the other two liked).

Re: voting. I think a lot of it has to do with the judges.  The fact that they overpraised Katharine, will IMO keep her in for sure.  The fact that Simon claimed Taylor/chris/kellie would be F3, also IMO will keep them to the end.  Simon can totally manipulate the voting (much more than the other two).

I do think that each contestant has their fan base. But not every fan will vote every week. And since I'll bet a lot of them have simliar numbers of fans, i do think anyone can go any week.  But the fact that ace has been in the bottom so often makes me think he is the most vulnerable.  ANd i think the huge praise the judges gave kellie last week, will help keep her in this week.

Another question, for everyone: There's been some discussion elsewhere on the 'net about "The Waiter Rule." (http://www.usatoday.com/money/companies/management/2006-04-14-ceos-waiter-rule_x.htm)

The rule is best explained in the opening paragraphs of an article in USA Today:

Quote
Office Depot CEO Steve Odland remembers like it was yesterday working in an upscale French restaurant in Denver.
The purple sorbet in cut glass he was serving tumbled onto the expensive white gown of an obviously rich and important woman. "I watched in slow motion ruining her dress for the evening," Odland says. "I thought I would be shot on sight."

Thirty years have passed, but Odland can't get the stain out of his mind, nor the woman's kind reaction. She was startled, regained composure and, in a reassuring voice, told the teenage Odland, "It's OK. It wasn't your fault." When she left the restaurant, she also left the future Fortune 500 CEO with a life lesson: You can tell a lot about a person by the way he or she treats the waiter.

Odland isn't the only CEO to have made this discovery. Rather, it seems to be one of those rare laws of the land that every CEO learns on the way up. It's hard to get a dozen CEOs to agree about anything, but all interviewed agree with the Waiter Rule.

They acknowledge that CEOs live in a Lake Wobegon world where every dinner or lunch partner is above average in their deference. How others treat the CEO says nothing, they say. But how others treat the waiter is like a magical window into the soul.

And beware of anyone who pulls out the power card to say something like, "I could buy this place and fire you," or "I know the owner and I could have you fired." Those who say such things have revealed more about their character than about their wealth and power.

I encounter this sort of thing quite often, now that I'm one of those clerk/servants.  The good news is, rude customers are the exception, not the rule.  And I've found a corollary: people tend to expect bad service, but can be surprised and pleased when a clerk/waiter/servant is pleasant and helpful.  (Yes, when a customer asks me where she or he can find an item in the store, I will not just tell them which aisle it is in, but on which side of the aisle, how far down, and whenever possible I take them there to help them find it.  Trust me, this makes the customer feel welcome in our store.)

Does anyone else out there have stories to tell, both good and bad?

I don't want to know what happens (i'm sure there are spoilers out there). But it looked severe!

.

space in case anyone who watches wants to be surprised.

.

The promo shows some sort of medic emergency van and the voiceover says that one survivor might be/is forced from the game. It is not danielle since she is saying "omg i hope they are okay".

But it looks pretty serious. I hope it's not terry (since i want to see the idol played out). And i hope that nobody is forced from the game. Should be interesting tomorrow.

Also released next week is a box of episodes (not the complete series) from SHIRLEY TEMPLE'S STORYBOOK that we discussed here some months ago.

Very misleading box art, however. It shows Shirley as a tiny child leading folks to think these might be films from her youth. Hope they know they're buying episodes of her TV series from 1961 when she was quite grown up.

Re: "American Idol":

SPOILER -- if you haven't seen it!

Last night was a breath of fresh air...as it should have been.  The past couple of weeks have been tiresome, to the extreme, with the badly chosen "theme" weeks of music from the 21st century and the Queen stuff.

I agreed with nearly everything Simon said last night with three exceptions:

1.  Elliot was superb...and was more winning than ever in his presentation.  What is Simon missing that he would chastise Elliot for displaying no personality?

2. While Katherine was, indeed, in a "league" of her own last night, it was a league below the better singers.  Katherine was "okay"...not the best rendition of that song -- and not the best song choice, IMO.  Diana DeGarmo sang it two seasons ago with much more power and style.  I think Katherine believes herself to be quite the talent.  She seems too "on" and a bit smug.  So far, I've not "fallen in love" with anything she's sung.

3.  Poor Ace.  He was far from "charming," IMO. I could barely hear him over the orchestra.  "That's All" isn't a favorite of mine, but I knew when I heard him tell Stewart his choice of song that it was because it was another song he could "coo."  Hated the hair.

Kellie was a delight, despite the snafu with getting ahead of the orchestra.  I'm not sure why she didn't take a second to settle back into the accompaniment, but it's lack of experience that's the culprit, I'm sure.

For the first part of the song, I thought she was "delightful"....almost like hearing Monroe singing a song in a film.  Simon DID get me to laugh with his comment about how she could have just left out "Bewitched" and "Bothered" and stuck with "Bewildered."

I fear for Elliot, since folks tend to listen to Simon rather than form their own opinions of what they've just heard.

And being released next week is the beautiful short film ANDRE'S MOTHER written by Terrence McNally for PBS' AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE. Such a touching, memorable basically one act play with RIchard THomas and Sada Thompson and Sylvia Sidney. McNally won an Emmy for his writing. I can't believe the actors weren't nominated for their work. They're all stupendous.

Well, I couldn't get over how busy Elliott's line was last night. The first time that's ever happened on the phone exchange I use. Taylor's line wasn't as busy as usual. During the past three weeks, his line has been the busiest with Paris joining him last week and taking over the lead this week.

My Roland keyboard has been non-functional for WAY too many weeks - I finally took it "in" last week, and got a call yesterday that i can pick it up today!!! I will be so happy to have it back! I have no piano in the loft here at Playa Vista, and I miss playing a little of this or that each morning.

Just by-the-way - for all his self-effacing modesty about his piano skills, BK plays really well. We're not talking Rachmaninoff - he doesn't play Chopin, not Debussy... but his accompaniments to real musical theater music are right up there. And by ear - like my Grandma used to play - a magic trick for those of us who are enslaved to the sheet music.

Hello.  I have had a busy morning of people trying to kill me on the highway.  I drive a bright blue Ford station wagon, not a small car, not a subtle color, but for some reason,  NO ONE was able to see me this morning,

No less than three times did some SUV (not the same one mind you, three different SUV's) suddenly pull in front of me, inches from my front bumper and then stomp on their brakes. This is on a road witha 55 mile speed limit...not allowing me a lot of braking room.  Once I was forced to make an impromtu lane change into the space just vacated by one of the SUV's in order to avoid crashing into it.  The other two times I was able to stop just in time but I suspect you would have had a hard time sliding a piece of paper through the miniscule space left between our respective bumpers.

I have recently heard a TV news story about a scam going on here on the Island where a car packed with people manuevers you into "rear-ending" it and then all the people in the car complain of neck and back injuries and sue you for all they can get.

I suspect the scammers were out in force today.  I, of course, in the panic of the moment, didn't think of this until I was well away from these various  SUVs and unable to copy their license plate number

Of course today could just be National Drive Like An Ass***e Day and I just missed the notice.

Rodzinski, I sympathize with ya buddy....even when you get caught "red handed" it's never pleasant to get a ticket.

Did you try to explain to the police officer the reason for your call and he didn't care to let you off or did you simply accept the ticket without explaining?

I have a "blue tooth" wireless earpiece that I use when I am in the car and my phone "voice dials" so I can say someone's name into my bluetooth and the phone dials itself so I have the hands free thing going.

However, I don't undersatand why  speakinginto a handheld phone is considered any more dangerous than holding a conversation with the passengers in your car while you are driving and holding and drinking steaming hot cup of coffee or smoking a cigarette or cigar  or eating a breakfast sandwich, burger etc all of which I see every day on my 60 mile round trip commute on the road to hell.

Speaking of perfect lives,  I haven't seen Ginny this morning. Could it be she's too busy cashing in her winning Mega Millions ticket worth in excess of 265 million?  The sole winning ticket was sold in OHIO!!!!!!

Quote
Lottery officials say the winning ticket from Tuesday night's drawing, worth $265 million, was sold in Cincinnati.

In addition to the grand prize winner, 21 players matched all five numbers but not the Mega Ball number. Those players will receive second prizes of $250,000 dollars each.

Another 109 players matched four numbers, plus the Mega Ball number -- good for third prizes of ten-thousand dollars each.

The winning numbers from Tuesday night's drawing were: 13, 14, 25, 34 and 50. The Mega Ball number was six.

Re: "American Idol":

SPOILER -- if you haven't seen it!

I fear for Elliot, since folks tend to listen to Simon rather than form their own opinions of what they've just heard.

I fear for Elliot because right now I don't think he is as popular as a few of the others.

Also, I think that most viewers don't really know if someone is off pitch or whatever. So they listen to the judges to help them.

I do think I get what Simon meant re: Elliot's personality.  While i'm sure he has a nice personality, it doesn't really come across most of the time.  Take Kellie for example. Most people, including Simon and Rod Stewart have said that she has a nice personality.  You feel like you know her.  Elliot seems very quiet, much more than the others. And i think that could hurt him.

It's funny but i thought ace would be more popular than he is. He was even favored to win in the beginning. But while he's the cutest, i think most don't think he's the best.

Also, re: something Paula said last night. She mentioned that for the first year it seems like anyone remaining could win. And i actually agree. While i think that chris is probably the one i think could win. I definitely think that anybody has the potential.  Right now I think katharine and kellie are my favorites. But i certainly like everyone else quite a bit.

For Jane: an Angie update.

ANGIE AND THE WART HOG!

We took Angie to Concord pets to find a tire-bone to wear out her teeth and save my arm. As we went in, she met a family with a three year old boy in tow; the lad had just been traumatized because a neighbor's dog had attacked him and a friend and had actually bitten the friend.

Angie went right up to him, and was shortly licking his face. His parents were so pleased that he could meet a friendly pup to help him get over his fears. Woody took Angie to hunt for the bone while I filled out the form to have a tag made for her. While Woody browsed the right side of the aisle for the bone, Angie browsed the left side of the aisle which held plush squeaky toys, and helped herself to a big black Wart Hog (at $12.99, the most expensive toy on the shelf). She pranced happily about the store with Wart Hog in tow (and was a bit anxious when we temporarily took it away to pull off the price tag).

I took Angie for a stroll around the Super G parking lot while Stephen was shopping, and she had a wonderful time greeting each and every customer - she no longer shies away from people at all and loves getting pets. When we got home, Fletcher thought that the WartHog would make good tug-of-war toy and it took some effort to keep the poor critter from being torn limb from limb.

I wish I could get a picture of Angie sneaking up behind Fletcher, latching firmly on his tail, and giving a good hard yank! (Which she does often!).

She is now 100% doggie-door trained. She is learning to adjust her behavior to the various dogs - avoid Marty, anything goes with Fletcher, play gently with Mikey, treat Bonnie and Buster with some caution (let them initiate play).

I wrote a weekly column under the pseudonym The Real A over on the Sondheim website.  I think I did it for three years, but when I created a certain record label, I decided to stop.   Those columns were the forerunner of this here site, and were quite popular with the populace.  That's where all the What Ifs were born.

Since I have the night off, I may have to watch Alias.

Penny, those who can play by ear are truly gifted. I have a good friend who plays a timbre flute in the Irish tradition by ear. She is quite good and even got to play the Chieftains once.

Yesterday some note was taken of spelling problems caused by mispronunciation.

The other day I was helping Alex (the third-grader GrandLad with his book report - a biography of Neil Armstrong.

In his report he used the word "extrordinary".

We pulled out the dictionary and I showed him: extraordinary - I spoke it two pieces (extra and ordinary) and explained that when we put two word parts together, and the first part ends in a vowel and the next part starts with a vowel, we often combine the two vowel sounds. I think he got it (at least he corrected his spelling). He was also using "witch" when he meant "which". I took a piece of scrap paper and drew a stick figure with a witch's hat and wrote "WITCH"; then I said, I think you mean "WHICH".
To which he replied, "Oh, they're homophones!"

I asked him if he was learning cursive yet. He responded that they has just started and he knew "i", "t" and "o".  I commented that there wasn't much he could spell with that.

A moment of contemplative silence was followed with, "I could spell TITTI." I hope he does not share this new found knowledge with his class.

der Brucer

PS Don't get me started on the fact that we "pronounce" and we "mispronounce", except when we do it, it's "mispronunciation" - all this bother just because words with solid Latin roots enter English either directly (thank-you Caesar) or indirectly, via French (thank you William of Orange) - and we all know about French spelling!

Re: something DR CP said about not understanding how anyone can say they love their kids/pets/friends more than themselves.

I disagree re: kids. I don't think it means that you don't love yourself (just because you love them more). But I can certainly 100% see how many parents would say this. And I think it's completely right.

We anglophones have trouble with "love" - it has too many meanings - we need more words like the Greeks have (seven, I think).

We don't "love" ourselves in the same way we love pets or our children.

One test of whether or not we love something more than we love ourselves would be to ask "would you give up your life to save the other?".

Rarely would one consciously surrender one's own life for that of a pet, but many parents would do so for a child. In that case, I would say that the parent loves the child more than herself.

(I concede that many would risk their lives to save a pet.)

Tough one! At what age?

When I first met TV it was Hopalong Cassidy (I was not a late bloomer, it was TV that was late!)

Later on "I Love Lucy" was everyone's favorite.

Jackie Gleason for weekly variety - Loretta Young for weekly Drama; Philco Playhouse, Kraft Television Theatre and Playhouse 90 for specials.

I was lucky to be able to fit Twilight Zone and Alfred Hirchcock Presents in between my folks watching Liberace and Lawrence Welk (whose name escaped me, but Goggleing "a-one and a-two" saved the day).

Me, I am a sucker for the swirling sounds of the Highland and Uillean pipes!!

I used to play the flute but play a bit on the tin whistle and bodhran.

About playing instruments:  I actually took accordion lessons when I was seven or eight years old...for only about a year.  Then, when I was in eighth grade, I took piano lessons for about four years.  When I was at Western Washington University, I was going to become a high school choir teacher, which I ended up not becoming.  Anyway, we had to take instrumental pedagogy classes...classes on how to teach kids how to play instruments.  I learned how to (very basically) play the clarinet, bassoon, french horn, cello, tuba and percussion.  The clarinet, cello and percussion were the most fun.

As for listening to instruments, purely instrumental music tends to bore me (please don't hate me).  I do prefer the voice...unless it's an instrumental version of a vocal piece that I like (such as the Sondheim in Jazz series, produced by our very own BK...I love those!) or is something that has some sort of dramatic feel for me.  I don't know how else to describe it.

What is your favorite classic television show?

I was watching it this afternoon - THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW.

I realized I still had one disc to go in the Season 3 boxed set, and I watched almost every episode on that disc this afternoon.

Among the classics:

Robert Moore playing Phyllis' brother who starts dating RHoda rather than Mary. Phyllis freaks out thinking she and Rhoda might become sisters-in-law. Rhoda assures her it won't happen; Phyllis' brother is gay.

Mary having a week from hell where everything goes wrong, the very week she must attend the broadcast for the Teddy Awards because she's nominated. No wonder Mary TYler Moore won the Emmy this season for Best Comedy Actress. I wonder if this was the submitted episode. Her performance is among the best, most realistic ever given on a comedy series.

Mary loans Rhoda $1,300 to open a plant boutique, and despite it making bucket loads of money, Rhoda stalls about
paying Mary back the loan.

From CharlesPogue:
Quote
Jane, was your "sad but true" in response to my saying there is no such thing as unconditional love?  I actually think that is a good thing.  I think everything must have boundaries and conditions...particularly love.  Those who try to give "unconditional" love will find their love abused for sure.  The first love anyone has to have is a healthy self-love.

I never believe people who tell me they love their children or their dog or their friend more than themselves. No.  Until you first love yourself; you can't love anything.

I think I was referring to all of your statements, mostly to the “unconditional”.  I reacted to your comment that dogs do have limits & don’t always love unconditionally.

In regards to your current post, after you love yourself I think you can still love someone else more than you love yourself.

As for my previous post, on second thought I can’t think of anything my children would do that would stop me from loving them, and I mean anything.  I might be very unhappy but I couldn’t stop loving them.  How much or how little I love myself doesn’t matter. How much I love or respect myself makes a difference with the boundaries and conditions I set.

So I can set those boundaries & conditions & refuse to tolerate anything beyond them, however it doesn’t mean I take away my love.  I suppose there are two ways to look at that, I still love “unconditionally” or I don’t.  If I reread the definition of unconditional, I say if I still love, then it’s “unconditionally”.  It just seems as if I have put conditions on my love where in reality I’m putting conditions on behavior.

I'm sure he's a nice enough fellow, I just wouldn't enjoy watching him.  So, yes, I was looking for entertainment value.  As far as culinary knowledge, I think even given the pear incident, Guy probably is more qualified than Reggie....I just really liked Reggie.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!  I not as bad off as you, but it's still darned frustrating.  I'm at the Randomly-Occurring-Uncontrollable-Coughing-Fit stage. :P And when I cough, I have to cough very loudly.

Feel better vibes to you George.  I slept most of the afternoon and that seems to have helped a lot. I actually have somewhat of a speaking voice at the moment.  I will definitely go to work tomorrow. I have a deadline on a motion and brief, but should have no problem getting them done.   Luckliy I don't have to entertain this weekend. I'm going to see To Kill A Mockingbird and go to the dinner with Mary Badham, but that's pretty low stress

Sounds like a kinky work place to me!

der Brucer

(Any job openings?)

LOL! Not really kinky, just an over reaction by the government to the Anthrax stuff a few years back.  Homeland Security actually asked me what our plan was if our office was hit by ballistic missles.  I laughed and told him if we were hit by missles, I would probably be dead and really didn't care what happened to the office.

I booked a room at the Comfort Inn in Midtown NY from October 3rd, checking out the 8th.  Thanks to Danise telling me to sign up for the points program one of these nights will be free.  Not that I’m sure I’ll stay there.  I want to look around for a better price and location.  At least I have this booked at the current price.

Ginny and Cillaliz did you book a room there?  I hope we can all stay in the same hotel again.

I haven't booked anything yet, but can do it. I wasn't thrilled with the Comfort Inn, but it wasn't that bad.  I know I'm signed up for their frequent traveler program so if it means a free night, that may be the way to go.   The 3rd through the 8th sounds pretty good. I may book the Comfort Inn for now and see what else is out there

Would you prefer the Carter years when a gallon of gas cost the same as the hourly minimum wage?

Perhaps we should ask Mr. Bush to abolish all those pesky environmental regulations and go back to good old leaded gas and start getting some economy out of our cars!

Or we could follow the Euopean Model, and have gas at over $5-6/gallon.

der Brucer (who regularly watches the locals save on transportation costs by driving their horse and buggies)

I don't think one has to prefer the Carter years to find gas prices a bit ridiculous. Especially when the oil companies are making record profits and giving their honchos mega-bonuses. Rather than the Carter years, I'd prefer just a few years ago, I don't care who was president, but gas was much more affordable, didn't skyrocket in response to any possible or imagined threat reported in the media, and had a lot of the same epa regulations.

I could get gas for less than 90 cents a gallon in Georgia (admittedly a state that doesn't add a lot of tax to their fuel), and what year was that? 1994.

T.O.D.

In honor of Ask BK Day, I have a question that doesn't really have an available answer, but requires only an opinion or a wild guess.

The other day I was thinking of all the gay men I have  known met in the last thirty-five years.  There have been teachers, bankers, actors(!) doctors, lawyers, farmers, bartenders, etc., etc.  I am sure that you could find gay men in every walk of life, but I started wondering; not which profession  boasts the lagest percentage of gay men, but rather which profession probably has the smallest percentage of gay men.  I dobut that anyone has ever done a survey on the subject, but I started thinking about it, and have continued to think about all day today.

My answer, a wild guess or an opinion, will probably change as I think about it more, but, so far, my guess would be a used car salesmen.  Don't ask me why I came up with that idea, but I have a difficult time remembering more than one gay used car salesman I have ever met in thirty five (+) years.

Perhaps this question is better left to a Sunday open forum; but I found it an interesting question.  Any takers?

Well, he's not nearly as smarmy as Bob Saget was on "America's Funniest Home Videos"...the videos were the draw, but you can tell from the reruns that Saget is certain it's "him"...all him!

As for tonight's "Idol" results...I, too, am pleased.

As much for who went home as for the "other" male contestant.   The female didn't belong in that group...a certain blond and a certain brunette are her inferiors in all vocal respects, IMO.

Of course, THE one I'd love to see in that bottom three apparently has a voting machine fit to fix all elections in the bayou regions of the U.S.

Doesn't matter how marginal or dull his performances are, they LOVE to see their man wiggle and squat.

Has anyone here ever ordered from CDBABY.COM? Besides the fact that they have a very eclectic choice of music, and you can have a listen to every CD they sell, they just send out the funniest e-mails letting you know that your items have been sent (they are also among the speediest places I have ever dealt with on-line!)...here is the e-mail I got this time (I get something different each time I order)...

Your CDs have been gently taken from our CD Baby shelves with
sterilized contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow.

A team of 50 employees inspected your CDs and polished them to make
sure they were in the best possible condition before mailing.

Our packing specialist from Japan lit a candle and a hush fell over
the crowd as he put your CDs into the finest gold-lined box that
money can buy.

We all had a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party
marched down the street to the post office where the entire town of
Portland waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, on its way to you, in
our private CD Baby jet on this day, Wednesday, April 19th.

I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at CD Baby.  We sure did.
Your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year".  We're all
exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to CDBABY.COM!!

I was completely shocked at the person who was in the bottom 2, but didn't go home!

But it was obvious which group was the bottom 3, IMO.

It's interesting that the only people who have not been in the bottom are taylor and kellie. And i totally think simon saying they would be F3 is one of the reasons.

I like Paris. BUt I don't disagree with her being in the bottom. There are only 6 left. I used to like her more. But she just seems too young and not as personable as the other girls.

I started tonight with another couple of MONK episodes. In the first he was investigating a set of murders for the West Coast Godfather. I liked this episode.

The second was a Sharonna-centered episode with her seeing a murdered man turning up in unusual places so that she began doubting her sanity. Not as well written as many other MONK episodes.

ALIAS - - - - -

really stretched credulity to the breaking point with the very pregnant Syd bounding up stairs, falling flat to the floor, flying on an airplane, and other seemingly absurd actions.

Always enjoy Lena Olin, and the regulars were their reliable selves. Certainly the show generated a fair amount of suspense tonight, but with Sydney's baby the object of attention, I was certainly ready for it to be born so we could get back to something like business as usual at ALIAS.
