Title: MACARONI AND CHEESE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes have exhausted you, you have exhausted the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the exhausted cows come home.

I think a Parent-Hetic is one that does not believe in the sayings of parents - "You'll go blind" etc.

A quiet beginning here, it seems.

Good Morning all. Danise is safely at the hospital we assume, since it's 7:25am.

No questions yet.

Good morning, all!  I had a pleasant evening out last night, and today I have to work on my NYCGMC dance arrangement.  I have to step out again tonight for a rehearsal with the Chorus in the Village, so I'm going to putter around the house all morning.  When I get bored with the Dance Number, I can take the eMac to Toyland and do some writing.

Dear Freidn BK, do you know Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich?  They are the writing team responsible for "Taylor the Latte Boy." They occasionally perform with Susan Egan, and I've become quite enamored of their work.  They might be an intertesting addition to your list of performers.

A question that was posed at dinner last night... what would you do with the money if you were the single winner of a the $365 million powerball?

Re: last night's Olympics.  It will be interesting tomorrow, since many of them are very close.  I did like Sasha the best.  But I thought the Russian was quite good.  The thing I liked best about her was how effortless it seemed. Although why did she wear pants? It just didn't look right.  My favorite thing about Sasha was her great flexibility.

I also quite enjoyed the 2 Japonese, although not sure which i liked better. And Emily hughes was good, although to me she came across as very young and not as artistic as the top women.

And as for American Idol, it was an interesting show last night.

.
.
.

My favorites are Paris, lisa, kelly and katherine.

I also like stevie (the opera girl) although i didn't care for her last night.

I really dislike brenna (?) or whatever the name is of the loud obnoxious girl.

And the other blonde (who the judges hated) seemed really nice.

I know MattH and the judges enjoyed Mandissa (sp?) but I just don't think she has the personality that the judges claim she has. She's okay to me. But i don't see her going as far as they think she will.

It will be interesting to see who goes first because popularity is huge. And i think that girl who proclaimed she had not been featured on the show will be in big trouble.

RETIRE and move to Manhattan.

Speaking of retiring, one of my favorite co-workers is doing just that tomorrow  :'( and today we're having a covered dish lunch in her honor.  My crockpot is full to the brim with my specialty baked beans.  All I have to do is get it from my kitchen to my workplace without spilling.

I would stop working, buy an apartment in New York, move Anthony's car into the city, give some money to my siblings and some other causes, perhaps start a small foundation, get a place in Dublin and London (and open bank accounts there so I could come and go as I please), travel more and enjoy my life. I would make sure I do not fall victim to the many travails that seem to happen to winners of large jackpots.

My first question for ASK BK day - what song in a musical film and/or stage, even though it fits perfectly  - would you give to a character in a different musical - and it might not work at all.

I mean wouldn't it be great (and this is an idea from William Goldman although he was being funny) - if there had been a big restaurant on the island in the South Pacific and suddenly in the middle of the second act, Nellie had gone there and she had been there before and all the waiters loved her and there was a big number called "Hello, Nellie!"....

Good suggestions all -

Have no idea if those folks would do it for the money we have.  Also, if they're not based here there's no money to get them here.  Finally, they have to have a two-act evening - and I'm not sure any of those folks do, but I'll check.

Yo.

Yesterday I was feeling more like a human being, so I trundled me off to the City of Studio to visit our BK, who kindly burned a CD of NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY for me. Just by-the-way - if any of y'all would happen to listen to said CD, hang on for about 3 minutes after the music stops, for the most hilarious "after-burn" you'd ever find! Ah, the joys of producing a cast album...

Before i left his house, my old friend gave me a wondrous treasure: a mint condition glass ashtray from the Kiru - an old LA steakhouse that was owned by Bruce's dad and my dad's brother Morey way back in the day. When my sister Rikki got home from her day, I showed it to her - she was very moved and appreciative. The many nights we ate at that restaurant (way in the back, my mom had 4 of us, and one of us was my brother...) - the grill man (what the heck was his name?) was the best in the biz. Thanks, Bruce. This ashtray is now a treasured heirloom, all the more precious for our having lost our folks last summer. Ah, the memories!!!

Oh - about NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY -- it's a perfect little gem of a musical, 4 actors (the "older" actress gets to play 5-count 'em-five parts, all with different voices and accents!!! Yummmmmm!), a non-set, and what sounds like a pit band of maybe five killer doublers! Ooooooooo, let's do a show!!
Title: Re:MACARONI AND CHEESE
Post by: PennyO on February 22, 2006, 07:55:38 AM
The roles the "older" actress gets to play are: a very Jewish mother, an irish widow, an aging Italian tango dancer, a Noo Yawk barfly, and the dead diva mother of the serial killer!!! So - one of the Mother monologues from JEWISH THIGHS, and the Old Lady's Tango from CANDIDE should work for Saturday's audition...

I feel sure Stevie will be let go on Thursday night. Her song choice was terrible, completely uninvolving, and her nerves worked against her in her fluttery soprano vocal. I can't see her garnering much support based on that performance.

I, too, do not like the mouthy, obnoxious Breena. There's not an ounce of graciousness about her.

Because Kelly lives fairly near Charlotte, of course I'm pulling for her, but her inexperience really showed last night despite the potential she also showed. I think she's make it to the finals - there are some other more forgettable average vocalists that she can outshine plus her sunny personality is very winning, but unless she gets her nerves under control and can take command of the stage (which those four I mentioned could do), I don't see her lasting very long in the finals.

And for those who didn't watch, the 16 year old Lisa sang "I Am Changing" from DREAMGIRLS for her first full appearance before the audience. Obviously, she had studied Jennifer Holliday's rendition very carefully because it was definitely modeled on it. Still, she brought down the house.

I'm going to put in PIN UP GIRL today to watch before I segue into CARDS ON THE TABLE.

Still can't believe that Fox chose PIN UP GIRL as their first Betty Grable release instead of her more famous DOLLY SISTERS or MOTHER WORE TIGHTS or DOWN ARGENTINE WAY.

Ah, well, they've really surprised me with the deluxe slipcases they have bound these discs in. No wonder they cost a bit more than the discs in their Studio Classics and Film Noir series

I will say that Irina Slutskya's jumps were bigger that Sasha's. Higher, more flamboyant. But her spiral sequence was quite wobbly, very unsteady compared to Sasha's effortless, unmatchable leg positions on her spirals. I have to say she's pretty astonishing with those, and I read after the national championships that her spiral sequence gets as many points as a single triple lutz jump due to its difficulty and transitions.

As for the pants issue, this is a change in the rules.

During her reign as national and world champion, Debi Thomas wore a unitard to perform her short programs. After she left the sport, the use of unitards and pants was banned from competition, and that rule has just been changed this year. For the more athletic, less etheral skaters like Slutskya, the look suits them.

I don't personally care for it, but it does set her apart from the others, and that, of course, is her goal.

Close, DR Tomovoz.  Parenthetic is a portmanteau word, a combination of parent and pathetic.  It refers to those who raise their children in a half-@##ed manner, and then make lamentable excuses for why they can't get a decent meal on the table or teach the children proper manners.  Der Brucer's daughter is parenthetic.

Portmanteau is not a reference to actor Natalie's younger sister, of course.

I recently picked a new primary care physician. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, he said I was doing "fairly well" for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, "Do you think I'll live to be 80?"

He asked, "Do you smoke tobacco or drink beer/wine?"

"Oh no," I replied. "I don't do either."

Then he asked, "Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?"

I said, "No, my other Doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!"

"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?" he asked.

"No, I don't." I said.

He asked, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?"

"No," I said. "I don't do any of those things."

He looked at me and said, "Then why do you give a #$%& if you live to be 80?"

Good morning all.

A question that was posed at dinner last night... what would you do with the money if you were the single winner of a the $365 million powerball?
Buy or build a very large house somewhere in the country here on the Eastern seaboard.  The house would include a fantastic kitchen, lots of room for lots of dogs...and a heliport.  Hey, how else would I manage to get to the various large (and small) cities in very little time?

If I wanted to stay in town for some reason, I could easily book a hotel room.  That's what hotels are for.

Of course, I'd have to have staff hired.  A driver/pilot, for example (because der B is getting tired of that job, I think, and he's regularly late).

After that, taking care of my Dad and Stepmom, and resolving the education issues for the grandlads, those would be priorities.

From the Warner chat, the only items of real interest for me involved things either a year off like the 1969 GOODBYE, MR. CHIPS or boxed sets of series films like MAISIE, ANDY HARDY, and DR. KILDARE that are "being considered."

Some other things were mentioned that I had some interest in like THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GREY, but everything seemed to be at least a year off.

It is dreary and chilly here in Rehoboth Beach today.

High time to make some chili!

I've some venison defrosting, waiting to be cut up into chunks.  Maybe I'll add some of the leftover lamb that I roasted on Sunday.

I'll need to get to the store, of course, for more ingredients.  And the liquor store, too, for some beer, which goes well in chili.  A nice ale should do the trick.

And newspapers.  Not for the chili, but because I want to survey the various food sections, from Baltimore, Philly, and DC, plus the Delaware papers.

If I win the lottery, I will:

1.  Before claiming my "prize," I will consult with a lawyer who can help me sort out everything I need to consider about taxes, how to get any taxes paid back, etc.  I'll decide how I'm going to "share" my win...I may have to declare more than "one" winner on my ticket in order to share it with family members.  I'd rather do this than to wait until I have all the money, because there are limits to how much money one can give to another without incurring gift taxes.

2.  Find, or build, my "dream house".

3.  Relocate myself to my dream home.

4.  Find investment opportunities that will allow me to help small business owners follow their dreams.

5.  Work in my garden.

6.  Find a "vacation home" somewhere within driving distance (4-6 hours) of my "dream home" and spend a lot of time there.

7.  Travel....renting houses or apartments in Rome or London or Canterbury or Florence or Paris or Athens or Budapest, etc.....for month at a time...and absorbing the cultures...

Its lunchtime and I desperately want some macaroni and cheese

Think of yourself...with blocked arteries...think of your arteries choking for life...think of all that goo clogging your pores until you cannot breathe.

Then ask yourself what you might enjoy that WON'T mess with your health!

Imagine your body giving up the fight...with your blood sugar levels rampaging out of control....too high....too low...and having to inject yourself daily with insulin...and having to "test" yourself three or four times a day to check your blood sugar level (and each time having to stick yourself with a needle to draw blood)...and then ask yourself if you really want one more slice of that cake or pie, or another one of those cookies (Girl Scout or other).

This raises Another Question for BK and the DRs:

What section of the newspaper do you like to go to first, when reading your favorite paper?

I always read the paper as it's laid out, from the front hard news section to the back.  The only exception is that I'll read the Home and Entertainment section last.

If I won the lottery...

I would allot about 2 Million to spend right off the bat - all impulse buys!  :)  Then I would sit down with an tax accountant/lawyer and plan out how to spend, invest and distribute the rest.

*Of course, I'm suspecting that my tax accontant/lawyer would already know how much would go to him.  ;)

As for Newspapers...

I go for the Style/Arts section first, then start back with the front page.  Admittedly, I should probably read more of the A section than I currently do.  However, I believe my tuning into NPR and reading my papers online compensates for that.

Ah...

Well... A friend of mine was recently given that "ultimatum" by his doctor, and he went ahead and cleaned out his cupboards of all the "bad" stuff.  Opened canned and boxes he threw out, stuff that was still sealed he gave to a homeless shelter.

And after all was said and done, he was no longer surprised that his blood sugar levels were so high.  Until he had bagged everything up, he did not realize just how much "stuff" he had kept on hand "just in case".

I've also found that with my current diet, "out of sight, out of mind" has truly been the way to go.  If I don't have the ice cream in the freezer, nor the cookies in the cupboard, well, I just don't have them.

LINCOLN, Neb. - The record $365 million Powerball jackpot has been claimed by a group of eight workers from a Nebraska meat processing plant on Wednesday.

“I didn't know what to think,” said Robert Stewart, 30, who said he was a maintenance supervisor before the win. “I still don't know what to think.”

The group, which was introduced by Gov. Dave Heineman, also includes Quang Dao, 56; David Gehle, 52; Alain Maboussou, 26; Chasity Rutjens, 29; Michael Terpstra, 47; Dung Tran, 34; Eric Zornes, 40.

The winning numbers drawn Saturday were 15, 17, 43, 44 and 48, with a Powerball number of 29, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association of Des Moines, Iowa, which runs the game for the participating states.

The group, who worked at the ConAgra Foods plant in Lincoln, have elected to take the cash option on the jackpot, valued at $177.3 million. Their respective shares will be $22,162,500.

The only ticket matching the winning numbers was sold at a a U-Stop convenience store in Lincoln, lottery officials said.

The ticket holder can take the money in a lump sum or in installments over 30 years. The cash option is $177.3 million, or $124.1 million after taxes. On the installment plan, the first payment would be about $6.5 million after taxes.

The previous U.S. lottery jackpot record was $363 million for the Big Game, the forerunner of Mega Millions. Powerball’s previous record jackpot, $340 million, was won by an Oregon family in October.

The Kiru name story is very weird.  We were always told it was from the first two initials of KImmel and my father's business partner, Morey Orloff.  Had any of us had a brain we would have realized that there's no RU in Morey Orloff.  After my father died, I was told what the RU really stood for.  It turned out, that unbeknownst to either my brother or myself, my father had been married before he married my mother.  She forbade him to speak of it.  And his first wife's name was - RUth.

When I wrote the Kritzer books I called the restaurant the ERRO - ER as in ERnie Kritzer.  And I was going to use the story and have the RO stand for ROse - but I could never fit it in.

Hard day at the Office Department

Quote
SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. - The sheriff said Friday he will no longer allow detectives to receive sexual services while investigating suspected prostitution after they spent $1,200 at massage parlors last month and sparked a public outcry.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff Howard Smith defended the practice as necessary to obtain a conviction but told his department he was suspending it.

“As sheriff, I understand the feelings and concerns the citizens of this county have expressed,” Smith said in a statement sent to the Associated Press. “And I empathize with those feelings. Because of the public’s express response, I have suspended this practice.”

Court documents show that four times last month, county detectives allowed women at Moon Spa to perform sex acts on them — once leaving a $350 tip. A total of $1,200 was spent during the visits, Smith said. He said multiple visits were necessary so detectives could build trust with the operators.

Detectives shut down Moon Spa last month. The two suspected operators and three women accused of working there face several charges, including prostitution and sodomy, Smith said.

Smith maintained the sexual contact was necessary to obtain a conviction. But law enforcement officials say undercover officers only need to get an offer of sex for money to move the case forward.

The practice has been used in Spotsylvania since at least 2003.

Earlier this week, Smith told the Washington Post that sexual contact is needed during the investigations because most professionals know not to say anything incriminating. And conversation is difficult, he said, because masseuses at the Asian-run parlors in the northern Virginia county speak little English.

But several members of Spotsylvania’s Board of Supervisors have spoken out against the methods used in the investigation.

“All of us ... have been worried about this episode tarnishing the county and making us a laughingstock of the nation,” board chairman Henry “Hap” Connors told the AP Friday. “That’s why I came out early on and asked the sheriff to cease using these tactics.”

Spotsylvania Commonwealth’s Attorney William Neely said he respects Smith’s decision to end the practice, but refused to apologize for the officers’ tactics.

It's not purely who is the best, popularity also comes into play.  I think Paris, Kellie and Lisa are guaranteed top 6 girls.  They are the most popular of the girls. And with the judges praising Katharine I think she will go through as well.

I personally think Kellie has a really sweet and real quality to her.  And her story was very moving.  She had huge airtime on the audition shows and I think even though she is inexperienced, she will probably grow the most.

I delivered everything, only to be told that we will indeed have to put every shot and its time code into the script.  There has been much confusion over this within Disney, and I couldn't get a straight answer out of anyone.  When I delivered, it seemed like we wouldn't have to, then I was stopped by a very pushy individual who said he wanted it done - fine by me, they have to pay me to do it.  I think this is some new guy just trying to be completely anal in a way they've never been before.  He tried to make it seem like I should have known this, but finally admitted it was not clearly stated in the producer guidelines (it's not stated at ALL) and that they're going to amend the guidelines from here on in.  I don't think other producers will be so happy about it - it's really just busywork - they have complete edit lists of every shot and music cue burned onto a CD - to have to type them into small columns on the script is assinine and pointless, and I think they will find that to be the case - and, the joke is they will NEVER use them - they'll go right to the EDLs (edit lists) on the CD, as they've done forever.  I pointed out to this pushy gentleman that my editor and sound man, who've been doing Disney spots FOREVER, had never heard of such a thing as a comprehensive shot list in the script.  What's in the script is the dialogue used, the written voiceovers, along with show numbers and time codes for any dialogue and certain shots called out.  These script templates aren't designed to have comprehensive shot lists, and they'll go from being two pages to twenty pages, depending on how many shots.  For a lot of their producers, it won't be a prob because most of their promos are shorter than what I did, and don't contain anywhere near the number of shots I used.  Because I'm actually creative and made them really kinetic and good spots, in the :60 there are probably 53 different shots, and in the :30 there are 27.  That's a lot of shots to list in a script.  But, tomorrow at four, that's exactly what I'll be doing.

How wonderful.  I have my own special memories of eating there with my father.

Interesting the subject is macaroni and cheese since that is exactly what we have been discussing around here.

Now that Craig is working Ioana is learning to cook.  She requested my macaroni and cheese recipe as a surprise for Craig.  She didn’t have a clue what cheddar or Colby/jack cheese was and I haven’t a clue what the cheese she used it (even though I’m sure I had some in Romania).

She didn’t care for.  While different, Craig enjoyed it.  He said what they call macaroni is a long tube shaped noodle.  He will try to find something more like our macaroni.  He didn't comment on the cheese.

I don't think they said the TARZANs would be this year, DR MBarnum. Only that they own the rights to them and are working on them. The Weissmeuller/RKOs will definitely be next, and there are enough of those for a box. The Barkers, I would think, are far down the pipeline.

I began my afternoon with PIN UP GIRL, one of the more forgettable Betty Grable Fox musicals. Martha Raye gets to croon a couple of numbers in her winning style, but most everyone else is pretty routine. Betty's leading man is the charisma-challenged John Harvey (who?).

Hermes Pan partners Betty in one number, and there is this absolutely endless women's drill team number that ends the picture in what I guess was a patriotic note (since this was made during the war years) but now just drags and drags. I didn't find it a great way to end the picture.

I see what the reviewers have been saying about the transfer. It's not that the color or sharpness is bad, but it varies. Some scenes feature rich hues and are very sharp, but a few others are paler in color that doesn't look much like Technicolor (but naturally has to be) and flesh tones in those are pale indeed.

Here is a link to Barry Maxwell's column about upcoming classic releases, it has some good info too...http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/barriemaxwell/maxwell021506.html (http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articles/barriemaxwell/maxwell021506.html)

Getting ready slowly for our whirlwind bar-mitzvah trip to Boca Raton on Saturday.  We're taking a 7:30 flight (I haven't tried to get anywhere by 7:30 in years!), the bar-mitzvah service is supposed to start at 11:30, then some festivities, and then we're flying back that night.

Will you meet DR Michael Shayne?

There didn't seem to be much talk about MGM musicals during the Warner chat though they did say another Doris Day box was coming with her early Warner musicals in it. Some mention was made of TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY, but we already knew that was coming in their next musical box next month (or is it April?).

Yes, there was a passing reference to the possibility of an Andy Hardy set, but nothing about a Mickey-Judy set...which would be as priceless to some of us as the Astaire-Rogers'.

The did say some more musicals are being prepped...but the horro/sci-fi fans seemed to hold sway...lots of titles mentioned that regular folks avoided in droves when the films played the theaters.  :D

This raises Another Question for BK and the DRs:

What section of the newspaper do you like to go to first, when reading your favorite paper?

I haven't read an actual paper newspaper in quite a long time, but when I did, I either just read the comics or I would start at the beginning and go through the whole thing, reading the headlines until something grabbed my attention.  But it has been literally YEARS since I've sat down and gone through a newspaper.

BK, maybe when you make the movie, you could slip it in somewhere. ;)

These Disney people are CRAZY.  After finally agreeing we didn't have to go in tomorrow (and canceling the session), they now realize they have an internal screwup and never sent me an amended work order with different play times for the show.  Thank goodness I keep paper trails a mile long, because this means we have to go back in again and redo all the slates, make new CDs, new end pages on the spots, and Allyce Beasley has to come back and rerecord all the tags - all because someone forgot to send this along.  Had they even sent it yesterday, I could at least have done the slates and new end pages then.  So, not only will we have to do all that, but I'll bet they'll now want all the shots inserted into the script again - bottom line, at least two more days of work - and I will, of course, make absolutely certain that my exec knows that it's a Disney problem and not a producer problem.

Back from a wonderful day of various entertainments...

Forbidden Broadway: SVU was a hoot.  And my buddy, Jared, did a wonderful job.  It was sort of hard to believe he's been in the show for just a few weeks - very effortless performances.

-Oh, and the spoofs of The Light in the Piazza and the current revival of Sweeney Todd were dead on.  Alas, some of the jokes in each of those portions went over the head of a lot of people in the audience... "What show is that from?"

I just got an email from Jason.  A peculiar email, come to think of it.

-Oh, and the spoofs of The Light in the Piazza and the current revival of Sweeney Todd were dead on.  Alas, some of the jokes in each of those portions went over the head of a lot of people in the audience... "What show is that from?"

When Christopher alden stage a hilarious "L'Italiana in Algeri" for New York City Opera, he included a Maury Yeston "Titanic" joke. Only half the audience I was part of got it.

Then my friend, Scotty, and I headed over to the AMC complex on 42nd Street to check out the showtimes.  We decided on "Transamerica."  But since we had a good hour to kill before the movie started, we walked around midtown for a while...

I didn't realize that the people behind craft-bar had set up shop in Bryant Park.  We didn't buy any food while we were there, but we made note to return.  There were four kiosks set up: ice cream, pastry & coffee, sandwiches, soups & salads.  Everything looked really good - I was especially tempted by the homemade ice cream sandwiches - you pick your cookies and ice cream flavors.  Hmm...  -And I like Tom Colicchio's "craft" empire, and it's nice to see a reasonably-priced outpost in midtown.

As for "Transamerica"... What an amazing movie.  I had not paid much attention to the reviews, except for the general raves, so the whole plot and journey of the movie came as a very pleasant surprise.

As other DRs have stated... Highly recommended.

Oohh... And there was even more "entertainment" on the way out the theatre...

When we stepped out onto 42nd Street, a bunch of firetrucks were driving by... and then turning left - against the traffic - down 8th Avenue... And stopped.  Once we looked up, we saw some flames coming from a high floor of the building that's being built there.  Everything seemed to be confined to one corner, and, thankfully, just the skeleton of the building is up, so there wasn't much that was burning.  After a few minutes, we noticed that the firemen were up there, and they put out the fire in short order.

Ah, just another day in New York City.

Good morning all.

A question that was posed at dinner last night... what would you do with the money if you were the single winner of a the $365 million powerball?

1. Pay off my bills
2. buy a place in Minnesota Lake country, a flat in either Seattle or New York and/ or perhaps a small cottage in Ireland....
3. Take a yearly vacation
4. invest some wisely
5. Donate some to worthy and respectable causes
6. set up an seed grant for a performing arts program or perhaps donate a little to some

I got a lot of opera DVDs as well as my Grammy shipment of CDs today, so I'm watching a bit of THE BARBER OF SEVILLE, with Juan Diego Florez, who's my candidate for the  best bel canto tenor performing at the present time.  It's a very commedia dell'arte production, with a very boisterous Italian conductor who thinks he's Bernstein, emoting quite a bit from the podium.

Spent two hours watching the men sing on AMERICAN IDOL tonight. Some good singers, but I have to say there weren't any that simply lifted me out of my chair with their talent. My votes for the two WORST vocalists tonight:

Sway, who did about 3/4 of the song in falsetto but switched to chest halfway through when his voice was tiring and then jumped back into falsetto again - just abominable.

Bobby, a jolly soul who did "Copacabana" with only a slight tendency to stay on pitch. Simply dreadful.

The Madrid DVD of "The Barber" had a great cast and a director who didn't trust the singers to keep the audience's attention:  during al the vocal pyrotechnics, he had dancers needlessly prancing in and ot of the scenes.  If I were Mr Florez, I wouldhave stopped singing and asked, what the hell do you want, me or them? and if the director said them, I would have walked.  He also spoiled the funny moment in the Act One finale when the police arrive by showing them gettign ready on the side of the stage.  Why is it so many incompetent morons make a living by doing lousy work?  On the plus side, his Act Two Finale, with Almaviva and Rosina flying off in a balloon, was quite lovely and now I cannot get the tune for the bolero finale out of my head.  Well, it's better than "Mattilda."
