TIME WARNER VIBES FOR THE ESTEEMED BK!

Last night, I viewed two dvds, and my response was, "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!?"
Those two dvds were THE BIG CUBE, which at least has several shirtless shots of George Chakiris, and TROG, which in the first ten minutes has two guys swimming around in their boxers. . .
As for the films themselves, yes, indeedy, they are C-A-M-P, the transfers are quite good, BUT, we get these films delivered to the dvd format and there's still no AFRICAN QUEEN?!?!?!?
I actually enjoyed BOTH films, unintentionally laughing (especially during THE BIG CUBE) throughout and I'm certain that I will revisit BIG CUBE, which provides a great big guffah when a playwright decides the proper cure for amnesia!

TOTD:
Give me Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass!
Give me Terry Trotter and his Trio!
Give me Chet Baker! (The film LET'S GET LOST has recently been reissued to theatres).
Give me liberty or give me death, spoo!  That's about a week or so late!

btw - has anyone heard this?  Thoughts?

Rewhipped has some great things on it.  I highly recommend checking out one of the remixers own stuff.  His nom de CD (?) is "Mocean Worker," but he is in reality Adam Dorn, son of legendary A&R man Joel Dorn (anyone who's read/seen "High Fidelity" may remember the name).  Herb guests on Mocean's new CD.

TD, you probably know that Herb has been re-releasing his TJB output on CD via Shout! Factory for the last couple of years.  There's a huge controversy right now because he's opted to released the "non-hit" LPs (i.e., Volume 2, Warm, Brass Are Comin') only on i-Tunes (for the moment, at least).  If you haven't gotten it, check out "Lost Treasures," which, like the Faith Singles collections I mentioned, is comprised of rare previously unreleased material.

JMK, I forgot you were a Percy Faith fan...I just love the Faith albums from the late 60s very early 70s that have his chorus as well. They are absolutely wonderful to listen to. His I THINK I LOVE YOU album is one of my favorites.

Also, these two RAY CONNIFF cds are swell.....

I recommend most of the instrumentals that BK has recorded. There's a few that just don't do anything for me. Nothing wrong with the recordings though.

Interesting that A & M (or what ever label it has now become) isn't releasing the cds.

The TROG boxers were a topic of discussion last week...and was THE BIG CUBE....as DRtd pointed out there is still MUCH to be said on these films.

Yes, he does, DR JOSE....Merlin does personality profiles.....

I think I will do a musical called ROLLER DERBY....

DRJEANNE you are correct....only works for other people.

I see that NBC's TodayShow is having a Hairspray week starting Monday. Imagine that!

No wait. Universal is releasing the movie.

Universal owns NBC

No surprise there

Well, not so strange when you consider Herb & Jerry sold A&M to Universal for a mere $500 million (that's half a billion, folks) about 20 years ago.  :)  Herb maintained control of his catalog as part of the deal.  Herb & Jerry then founded Almo Sounds.  A&M has had a very checkered history since the sale (in fact, Herb & Jerry sued Universal for even more multi-millions after the sale)--some of their product is released on Verve, other on UMG.

Yes, that's Ray Conniff on that album cover.  You know he started out as an arranger for Dorsey, IIRC.

Good vibes to BK for his repair guy to show up. ~~~~~~~~
At least you are entertaining us as the story is quite interesting.

Btw, cute story time.
I was in line at the grocery store with my 21 month yr old niece. I opened a magazine with a picture of Eva Longoria's wedding cake on it (it was red).

Anyhow my niece looks at the picture and proclaims, "cake - yum!  I love cake!".  Kids are too cute. :)

Oh and re: DR Jose's roomie.  Unless you really hate her, why not just tell her about the grill. I mean even  if she is inconsiderate, why should that be your example?

Btw, what was that you were saying about being able to tell how much gas is in the tank? This is one thing that drives me nuts about my bbq. I want to know exactly when it is going to die!

LOL-JRand.

But darn, according to the clock (if I don't get my family curse sooner) I will die on Sept. 18, 2022.  That is just before Craig's birthday.  I would hate to ruin his birthday.

Correction, I apparently didn't change it from male to female.  I'm still going to ruin Craig's birthday, just 6 years later.

I was just told he's enroute.  I said I didn't give a crap what he was doing and I asked to speak to a supervisor.  I'm back on hold.

I'm surprised you weren't accidentally cut off!  :)

Are DR MBARNUM and I the only two people in the world who have NOT read a Harry Potter book?

I will miss my 88th birthday, DRJANE.  So there will be NO Jrand88 avatar at HHW in 2038.

Well, I only read the first chapter of the first book...

I have seen the first two and the last movies before this one, and I'm going to see this one tomorrow, as its a family outing. Otherwise I wouldn't. Not that they're bad... but Alan Rickman never has enough to do!!!

I Remember the Economy Candy Store.  I purchased something for Keith there, I think it was a sugar daddy, or maybe a Mary Jane-or both.

Bruce did you make it to the English stores, King’s Head Pub or the Tudor House, in Santa Monica?  I still have a few Wine Gums left from my last visit.
