The disc also included a 1957 episode from DISNEYLAND which was called "Mars and Beyond." Amusing the things that were speculated about Mars long before we actually got there. The episode features good color (Disney was smart to switch over to color even before most folks had color TVs), but I only got a little ways in before I felt the need for a nap.

We've only had one trivia guess - and it was correct.

Seems we were just discussing this actor/singer not long ago on HHW (and Tomovoz even sent me a CD of some of his pop songs from the 60s...which I must admit were quite good!)

Rod Lauren found dead in California -- star of THE CRAWLING HAND, BLACK ZOO, TERRIFIED, etc.

The American husband of slain movie actress Nida Blanca was found dead in a parking lot of an inn in Tracy, California on Wednesday (US time) and investigators suspect that the man who was accused of killing his wife almost six years ago had committed suicide, a local online newspaper in the Unites States reported.

In its Web site, tracypress.com, Tracy Press reported that the body of Roger “Rod” Strunk, 68, was discovered by a woman in the parking lot of Tracy Inn Wednesday.

The report said that Tracy Police Department said he apparently jumped from the inn’s 2nd floor balcony, about 20-feet below, as it found evidence indicating that he committed suicide, the report said.

“It appears to be a suicide at this point,” the report quoted Sgt. Steve Beukelman.

Strunk was charged in the Philippines with parricide along with four principal suspects in the killing of Blanca who was found stabbed to death inside her car on Nov. 7, 2001. The actress had 13 stab wounds to the head and chest.

Strunk, however, was not in the country when the case was filed against him. He left for the United States after his wife’s burial.

Philippine police said money and property could have been the motive for the murder, noting that the American had piled up debts and was disinherited by Blanca before she was killed.

Blanca, born Dorothy Jones, married Strunk, an American actor in Las Vegas, in 1979. Strunk was her second husband. The couple then moved to Manila to settle here. <<

This morning I went to the arboretum for a lizard walk. I like lizard walks, because it draws lots of kids, and the little boys are always fascinated by the lizards and get very excited when they find one.

WHIPPED CREAM AND OTHER DELIGHTS was one of the few instrumental LPs I owned growing up (apart from soundtrack albums to non-musical films). So I guess that would be my choice on the topic of the day.

Wouldn't you know it, though. I spend one night away from home for the first time in about six or eight months, and I miss an e-mail that I needed to read yesterday. Argh!

Well, I need to go mow the front yard. I wasn't able to do it this week due to the thundershows we had almost every day. It seems dry enough right now to mow, so I'm going to try.

DRLaura, we have loads of lizards here.  I don't think I have ever seen one hold still long enough to photograph it.

One little boy, about seven or eight, backed into a cholla cactus. He put on quite a show, shouting "I'm dead! I'm dead!" while his parents pulled the spines out of his butt.

I've read all of yesterday's posts and today's notes, but I haven't read any of today's posts. ::) My sister, niece and aunt who's visiting from California came over to my (still quite messy) place today to see the new digs.  She (my aunt) really liked the floor plan and the three storys and my cat!  We ate Subway sandwiches and chatted for about an hour.  My parents are having everyone over for turkey later today and my sister is making dessert, but I have to get to the show ("Taming of the Shrew"...ONLY TWO PERFORMANCES LEFT!) early today so that pictures can be taken of all us performers in all our various costumes.  So, I won't be partaking of the turkey, which I don't like anyway, so it all works out. ;)

As for last night's show, we had our biggest and best audience!  I don't know how many will be there tonight or tomorrow, but we had about 65 people last night!  Hopefully, we'll get that many or more for the last two show!

No little girls fascinated by lizards?   :(

I don't actually know that many children, but my neighbors until just recently (left for Japan) had a 2 year old daughter who also loved bugs and creepy crawlies...

For myself, I'd run screaming from the room even today...
