I just come here for the novelty coffee mugs and their trenchant commentary on the little ironies of everyday life.

I like to read books about television series and movie stars and such.

In the past two days, I have read a couple of comments in passing that gave me information I never knew and perhaps might be of interest to MR BK and others here at HHW.

Jack Carson was part of a vaudeville duo before he got into the movies .... his comedy partner was:

Dave Willock.....father of MR BK'S Muse Margaret.

The Today Show is a big ol' joke and shame on them for calling themselves a "news organization."  Really?  They wanted to stir up stuff, that's the bottom line here.  She has nothing to do with Sony or what happened to Sony.  She was there for one reason, to plug her new movie.  Earlier, they'd had Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper on - funny, they didn't ask them about it, because they probably knew that Clint would make mincemeat of them.  They thought they could get away with it with Miss Adams, one of the nicest people ever - I'm glad she and her people held firm - the only people who look bad here are the people at the Today Show.

In the 4th season of Peyton Place on television, Constance and Elliott had a baby son.  That son was played by Mathew Rubin, son of DRUXY's friends, Stanley Rubin and Kathleen Hughes.

I've been organizing and putting stuff away, I've got all the plates and cutlery out, I had a nice visit with Nick Redman, and found out that my framing job that was supposed to be ready today, isn't.  They promise tomorrow by noon - I gave them plenty of time for this job and told them I had to hang it before the Do - now I'm up against the wall (well) on a day when I really did not want to go out at all and I have cooking to keep my eye on.

Craig sent us Mallomars.  They didn't arrive in great shape so I need to microwave them a bit.  The graham cracker base seems to be less flavorful.

It is funny Craig should send Mallomars, though very sweet of him, as it was due to his influence that I have pretty much stopped eating marshmallows which are made with gelatin which is not vegetarian.

He also has a very nice voice and often you can hear the humor in it.  It is very sweet when he talks to Silver.  Jay Silverheels also has a nice voice & they compliment each other.

Frankie and Johnny is a very story-heavy movie for an Elvis movie.....

Ginny, your kitchen looks great! I had grey Corian kitchen countertops in my last house and really liked them. I hope you like these as well. What used to be where the cart is now?

Thanks, DR Jeanne!  The cart has always been there, but with no countertop.  We had a mammoth microwave on the cart.  The micro was old and too tall to sit on the counter, so it went to the landfill today.  We were going to buy a new one, but Mom said today she wants to get rid of hers (thank goodness!)

Maybe your mom is enjoying eating with other people

So true DR JANE.

It was kind of strange when John Hart replaced him for a season or so......

We started watching the re-runs with Hart so I was ok with it, until Moore returned and you could really see the difference.

Right!  I often think superhero when watching.  You really don't have to watch this show, just listen to it as if it was still a radio show.  I love that about it.  Sometimes it is funny though, instead of rushing off to help the stagecoach, or whomever, under attack they need to have a discussion first :)

Ain't it the truth.....at least it wasn't like Gene Autry or Roy Rogers, sometimes they stopped in the middle of everything to sing a song.

Dale Evans was talking on a tv show once and said her horse was so competitive it was all she could do to keep her from passing Roy and Trigger in the chase scenes....if she ended up in front, they had to do it over.

Probably because not too many people remember David Stollery's name, I didn't.  I liked him and wondered what happened to him.  Unlike the other two he left the business young.
"Stollery left Hollywood to pursue his education. Capitalizing on his fascination with auto design, David has made a significant mark in the automobile industry. He is credited with the design of the 1978 Toyota Celica, and has directed the design of over 22 models for the Japanese firm. Stollery most recently has become president of his own manufacturing company, making fiberglass lifeguard towers--the only of their type made in the US. Stollery claims not to miss Hollywood or the fame one bit."

I wish Roy sang more in the series, it would have been an improvement.

Interesting about David Stollery.....he was in a movie with Greer Garson HER TWELVE MEN that I liked a lot!

Yes, I got pretty sick of Pat and Nellybelle.

I was kind of wondering if MR BK knew that Dave and Jack were a vaudeville team, but he must not have seen my post.
