Last night on TCM, I saw the "coming attractions" trailer for A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. The last few seconds showed some credits and then at the bottom there were the words Released by 20th Century-Fox.

STREETCAR was a Warner Bros. film - how did Fox get involved with it? IMDB says only that Fox distributes the film for cable TV and there was a CBS/Fox Video version.

Where did this trailer come from? It mentions that the film won 5 Academy Awards so it was put together some time after the original release. I am confused.

Hello, my name is TCB, and I am a heathen. Yes, I admit it, but I know very little about art - this type of art. Growing up, I thought art museums were places designed by the Marquis de Sade to punish bad little children. However, I must say I did like that Dali painting of THE LAST SUPPER. I actually bought a Dai print at an art auction one time, but they told me it was one of his lesser known works (probably because all of the body parts are there and in the right places).

I mean, theater is art, music is art, and body painting is, well, heaven! So, since I know nothing about the subject, I will sit back and observe what examples of art you all love. Perhaps I will learn something.

Ooooh...I hope I don't offend anyone.

The guy who started the Video Music Channel was a friend of his, too, but we never talked about him. He's certainly a talented guy, and I still like his books, but what he did to that kid seemed a little self-serving and insincere and I lost some of my enthusiasm for him.

I saw a great exhibit of his paintings in LA about 3 or 4 years ago.

Did you know that he did some of his painting right here in Marietta, GA? Of course, as is this town's habit, they have torn down the beautiful old house but at least managed to keep his studio, which is sitting in the front yard of a loft, looking very out of place!

Well, der B and I didn't make a special trip - we were in town and made a point of heading over. It was while visiting the Art Institute of Chicago that I was introduced to the works of Gustave Caillebotte, whose Paris Street, Rainy Day is part of their permanent collection, and who was being represented by a show of his work that had been brought in from arround the world. His painting Les raboteurs de parquet (The Floor-Scrapers) in particular made an interesting impression on me.

I'm not happy with the final three, either. I do NOT want to see Mirna and Schmirna win this one, and I'd be even less happy to see the less deserving Eric and Danielle win. I'm going to miss Danny and Oswald--I liked them and they would have been just as appreciated as winners as the Blondies.

And the Blondies are fighting amongst themselves? What will bring that on?!? Probably some major screw-up that loses them the game.

While on a business trip to Chicago about ten years ago, I made it a point to see La Grande Jatte. Unfortunately, I had to depend on a taxi driver who not only had no idea where the Art Institute of Chicago was located, but was also afraid of driving during a thunderstorm. By the time he finally got me there, my window of opportunity had shrunk to the point (point, get it?) where I only had about only a half hour to take in the painting. Even so, I was glad to have seen it.

I've also seen Seurat's The Models, the original version, which hangs in the main hall at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia. This is the one where three models are posing in front of - you guessed it - La Grande Jatte.

But that doesn't count as the original LGJ.
