DR Vixmom, i just read your update about you sleep in the same recliner day and night.

Did you mention this problem to your doctors. Maybe the symptoms are more pronounced at certain times. Even with regular illnesses i know sometimes they are worse at certain times of the day!

Maybe you could sleep during the day and stay up at night?

Okay, this is either kismet or BK planned it this way but...

ON THIS DAY IN THEATRE HISTORY...

Today is the 60th anniversary of the opening of Arthur Miller's DEATH OF A SALESMAN at the Morosco Theatre.

"Attention must be paid!"

(and you can pay it through your PayPal account!)

It's also the anniversary date of Arthur Miller's death (in 2005). How coincidental was that!

Good morning!

Another beautiful day with temps near 70. I hope to have the doors and windows open for fresh air a little later. I have had the heat off for 24 hours to no ill effect! And it's FEBRUARY!

First real boy friend was my freshman year in college. He was a sophomore, the center on the football team. Going to a church affiliated college, you can imagine that our relationship had to be SUPER clandestine. It did not end happily. He took a lot of ribbing from his jock buddies for being seen with me (who was a 125 pound weakling) and basically ended it a few weeks before the end of the year because of the pressure they were putting on him. On the last day of the term, he came to see me in my dorm room. He told me he had been desperately unhappy, had failed every exam, and wasn't returning to college, but he begged me to get back with him. I refused. Having my heart broken once was enough. Last I heard he enlisted in the Marines (this was during the Vietnam War). Years later when in Washington, D.C., I checked the Wall for his name, and it wasn't there, so he at least survived it.

I really only have to watch HOBSON'S CHOICE this afternoon and then listen to the commentary since I've done all of the other bonus features. And having the seen the film a couple of times previously (though not recently), should also make it an easy work project for me.

TOD:

First girlfriend in 1st Grade:  Vangie Holmes.  She had the most wonderful pony tails.  She lives in a Charleston SC mansion and participates in the social scene there.  She has two sons and three grandchildren.

Second girlfriend in 4th and 5th grades:  Ginger Anderson.  She didn't know it.  But I did.  After moving around town and attending two more schools, I found myself in high school with her.  It was well known she had a "college guy" for a boyfriend throughout high school.  He couldn't get away for Senior Prom.  I was there.  And Ginger said yes.  So...she was my prom date!

Third girlfriend in 7th grade:  Aloma Douana Perscilla Culpepper.  Now there was a hip chick!  Have no idea whatever became of her, but I wish her only good things.

Object of adoration from afar circa 1965-66:  Miss Amy Irwin who participated in many Greenville Little Theater productions.  Way out of my league at the time.  Miss Irwin made at least one Hollywood film -- Robert Altman's "A Wedding" in which she played Muffin, the bride of Desi Arnaz, Jr. -- and was billed as Amy Stryker (Stryker being her mother's maiden name) because it was felt her real name was too close to that of another Amy...Amy Irving.

College -- Golly.  So many.  Linda Duck.  Mary Belle Lawton.  Ruth Gellerstedt.  Marian Stubbins.  Judy Henson.

None of them quite stuck, though.  Something in the chemistry no doubt!

Heading down now to check the mail and then start on lunch preparation.

I did NOT get any mail yesterday - either USPS or UPS review copy shipments. I was NOT a happy camper.

Well that was fun!  For those of you who aren't familiar with the judicial heirarchy, the Circuit Courts of Appeals are one step below the United States Supreme Court. So if you appeal from here you could go to the Supremes.  That'won't happen in this case as it's not the sort of issue that the Supreme Court would agree to hear

BUT, I forget the pomp and circumstance and what a privilege it is to argue before the Circuit.  I'm in the 8th because they cover the middle of the country (essentially).    I went to their conference in Chicago last August, so even though I've been here before, this time it was a lot more comfortable.  I didn't have the nerves and just enjoyed the moment. There were lots of questions from the three judges on our panel and I love the back and forth with them.  They even offered me extra time!  I didn't have much to add, but hey, you can't pass that up.

So now, I'm off to find some food.  Then I'll probably just check out and head to the airport.  I don't think I can make an earlier flight, but if there is one I may try to stand by. If not, I'm fine with waiting.

The Vixter just started her second semester of school.  This term she is taking an advanced Drama class that will earn her 3  college credits.  In conjunction with that class they are going to NYC tomorrow to see Pal Joey
