Watching "Letters to Juliet" right now. It's more charming than I thought beforehand. Though the reason I got from the library -- Vanessa Redgrave -- is the best reason to see the movie.

I agree. I really liked this movie. And thought that Vanessa Redgrave was wonderful!

SO, I had a greast idea.... I love left overs and the smell of Turkey roasting....so I just called the grocery store and they had a fresh turkey. I'm going to get it cut in half and I'll freeze half and roast the other half tomorrow. I can make stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries and all the foods I love. It will be better than sitting alone at a table in a restaurant

I watched a couple of episodes of the Lisa Kudrow show from a couple of years back.....it is now on Sundance Channel.....
Brilliant is the only word I can use......Kudrow is so good.....the writing is great.....and the television background seems to be very authentic.....
It is my new favorite show.

BK, I've enjoyed the liner notes the last two days. Just curious, are these notes for the next volume of memoirs?
I'm awake. No work today!! My cousin Melinda and her BF are coming over to see the house, which they've never seen and we've been here 2 years now. I need to go work on some sort of foodstuff to offer them. Something like a white bean dip I would think.
bk, loved the notes. Each time your reminisce about that time, something new comes out, or maybe it's your frame of mind when you write it, I don't know.
Does this mean you can't do anything with the Sherman Bros CD?
My question for ASK BK day......what television show or movie.....do you think most accurately portrays the current state of Hollywood and/or television?

Unless I were to buy it back and that doesn't seem likely, frankly.
And the word of the day is: MITHRIDATE!I dated Mith Ridate back in high school. She lisped a lot.
I miss them, too. The Unsung Musicals, the Lost in Boston, Broadway Christmas, the Hollywood Christmas -- they were wonderfulI'm awake. No work today!! Well, I for one miss those types of albums and the singers albums, too. No one does them anymore. They were one of a kind and are sorely missed.
There was David Mamet's "State and Main," which was surprisingly lackluster and sweet considering the pedigree. My question for ASK BK day......what television show or movie.....do you think most accurately portrays the current state of Hollywood and/or television?
I don't really watch television so I don't know that answer, and do you mean a movie about movies? Have there been any of note since The Player? Otherwise, sadly, I think ninety percent of the dross I see reflects the current state of Hollywood - movies by committee, independent films that don't even know what the word independent means, i.e. lower budget studio films, screenwriting 101, trendy direction.
Something to look forward to. As Liliane LeFleur would say, I love it!BK, I've enjoyed the liner notes the last two days. Just curious, are these notes for the next volume of memoirs?
Sometimes I do this as a dry run - just to get things back into my head so I have them to refer to. If you check last year's notes you will find some whose stories ended up in the first volume.
Also read the new Sal Mineo biography to read about his active love life including Mr Bobby Sherman and Mr Jay North.

Bobby Sherman!!!

This will disappoint my sisters, too, who had crushes on him. Well, maybe not. They may not remember him but vaguely. Also read the new Sal Mineo biography to read about his active love life including Mr Bobby Sherman and Mr Jay North.
Bobby Sherman!!!
:o
This will disappoint DW Wife Betsy, who had a major crush on Bobby and got to have lunch with him when he did a PR swing thru Chicago when she was a news anchor there. I believe he was a paramedic by that time. She has a lovely autographed pic of him. Without Sal. :)
Bobby Sherman is a nice boy.
Jill Haworth was Mr. Mineo's main squeeze? THAT I find unbelievable.

LOL< I just called mom to tell her what I'm doing and she said "Hey, that's a great idea...think I'll call the store here and do that too!" That makes me happy :D
Sign of the times. ;D
Feel better vibes for Jose and all in need. I'm still taking the antibiotic for the ear infection and am happy to report that it's working nicely. I can tell it's not gone, but I have no complaints.
I found out (years after the fact) that a certain author who wrote a certain "biography" of a certain actress did not actually conduct some of the "star" interviews alluded to in his "book." ;)

Have enjoyed the stories in the notes the last couple of days. Most interesting.
Wednesday morning greetings! I've been more or less awake since about 5:30, because Rob had to leave early to take a big final exam for his paramedic class and then drive (MY car) to Michigan for a extended Thanksgiving holiday. While I can accept the fact that he won't always be here for holidays, having my car taken away, too, is pretty depressing. Richard and I are trying to put a positive spin on it, saying we're experimenting on sharing a car, but I'm not happy about it.

My pre order of THE FILMS OF FRANCES FARMER was cancelled....it's still up on Amazon, and is listed as in stock. Maybe I will try to order it again.
Well we shall see what we shall see.
Did they send you a free copy?
DR Cillaliz - It sounds like your Thanksgiving plans are working out one way or another. I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy this weekend.
Cilla, Craig brought Kitty's little carpet across country with him.
I meant in terms of the lies about FF. IIRC he was one of the defenders of the author.

Yes I did mean a movie about movies.....
And I agree about State and Main......
... I have all the fixins for a feast made entirely of things I like to eat. Cool....
Ricky just saw a squirrel on the birdfeeder for the first time. He went bezerk!! It was kind of funny. The girls looked at him like he was such a novice. I'm sure they didn't tell him they did the same thing when they first saw a squirrel on that feeder

Not a fan of State and Main. I like the cast, tho.
You mean Errol Flynn wasn't a Nazi spy? I read that bio. Next thing you'll tell he didn't sleep with Tyrone Power or Gary Cooper (also in that volume).JR specializes in reading biographies with "grains of salt." ;)
Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?
I haven't read this particular book, so I can't really comment on it.
However, I will say that authors who write scandalous biographies of dead people, who can no longer dispute their claims, have ruined this "business" for those of us who avoid the sensationalism.
Back in the 1970s, when I was writing non-fiction books about Hollywood, I had no problem garnering interviews with virtually everybody I approached (e.g. Cary Grant, Mervyn Leroy, Mary Pickford, etc.).
Then, a certain author I knew (whose name I won't mention) came out with that piece of crap that claimed Errol Flynn was a Nazi spy, and suddenly the well dried up. People who I'd interviewed on earlier books (e.g. director Gordon Douglas) would no longer give interviews. They no longer trusted any biographer.
I recall that this aforementioned author used to "authenticate" his claims with statements like: "So-and-So told me this before he died."
Right!
I just hope that, if the information in the Mineo bio is not true, Mr. Sherman and Mr. North sue the author.
That would force him to prove his allegations in a court of law.

What is an Android Tablet - a rip-off of the iPad?
I'm still researching--I believe Android is Google's new operating system. Maybe Jose can tell us. But, yes, it looks like an iPad, only smaller (more like a slightly larger iPhone).
DR John G thank you for advising me to begin reading THE LACUNA sooner than later. I picked it up today and am glad I did. Good timing as after a sleepless night I finished reading THE GLASS ROOM at 3:30AM.You're welcome. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I have 2 pumpkin pies in the oven and, yes, I'm going to watch the Sondheim program on PBS.

Hello-
In case anyone's interested and didn't already know, PBS is showing a salute to Stephen Sondheim tonight.
Set the DVR to record Great Performances!!
I'm just wondering if tonight's PBS broadcast will include Karen Olivo and company singing "America", and/or Alexander Gemignani singing "Something's Coming"?
"Miss Farmer, what was Tyrone Power really like?"I was going to send you a PM on that. Guess I don't need to now.
And then the fertilizer hit the ventilator.
