DR elmore - If you feel like you need a nap later today, take one.  :)

-Do you have any plans for tomorrow? Brunch? Lunch? Dinner? Etc?

DR Jose, I have no plans for tomorrow, except to work on the final chart for Kevin Spirtas.  I got a call on Friday morning about doing something for Joanna Gleason this week, too.

Dinner might be good.

My favorite song of the five nominees is "Our Town" from CARS which I really loved. "Listen" may indeed win, but for sheer melody, the CARS tune has it beat, I think.

Any of the five nominees is clearly superior to that absurd rap number "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp" that won last year.

A package on its way?  Some flan in dry ice, perhaps?  :)

Haven't made the flan yet. I'm culinarily challenged plus our kitchen has been non-functional for years, so it's kind of a gamble. But if it turns out, well, that would be FLAN-TASTIC!   :)

There's a featurette on the DVD of MR. MOTO'S GAMBLE detailing how they turned a Chan picture into a Moto picture, so I'll definitely be watching that this afternoon. I also have LAW & ORDER from last night that I'll probably get to.

Depending on what comes in today in the mail, I may have that Japanese film from Criterion to watch (WHEN A WOMAN ASCENDS THE STAIRS), something from the Alice Faye DVD box, or TOTAL RECALL on Blu-ray.

My Oscar Predictions:

Best Picture:  THE DEPARTED

Best Actress:  Helen Mirren
Best Supporting Actor:  Eddie Murphy
Best Supporting Actress:  Jennifer Hudson
Best Director:  Martin Scorsese

I'm not going out on a limb on any of these.

I would love to see Randy win another Oscar. I loved his speech when he finally won his first after 13 nominations.

"Please. I don't want your pity!"

I actually had tears in my eyes when he won, because the orchestra gave him a standing ovation and I've never seen them do that before.

I am off to my sister's house in Doylestown, PA, to install some additional memory into her PC and then perhaps do some Doylestownish shopping.

Everyone have a great Saturday!

Good morning, fellow Dear Readers. I am waiting for the plumber to call. I certainly do wait for people a lot, don't I? I am also waiting for the printer repairman to call -- the printer jammed yesterday.

So glad you got back home safe and sound, DR Elmore.

Thank you, DR MattH, and every DR who sent vibes and wishes!  I'm thrilled to be home, and the hurly-burly has begun:  I called the post office to let them know I was coming for my mail, and when I picked it up, I said to the postman at the window that it seemed lighter than my usual 2-week amount of mail.  The idiot sub postman for my mail route, who delivered mail to me yesterday even though there was a hold notice, didn't bring down the packages!  What are they breeding at the PO these days?  Color me PO'd.

So, the upshot is, I have to return and pick up packages.  I think while I'm out I'll pick up fixins for chili and make some!

I was equally thrilled for him, and thanks for bringing back that Oscar moment into my memory.

I just noticed my SISTER ACT tickets are an "Afterwords" show...I wonder if FJL's friends who wrote the show will be there? Guess it's too late to find out.

I, too, like the Cars song better than any of the sub-par Dreamgirls additions.

Other than what some people call the "no-brainers", Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress and Best Director, I do not have a clue. The only nominated movie I've seen is The Queen. I doubt that I will watch more than 10 or 15 minutes of the Oscars, which is sad because so many years ago I salivated at the thought of watching the Oscars and I saw every nominated movie that I could see in Minneapolis. We had Oscar parties and made a big deal out of it. Now, I check the New York Times the next day for the complete list of winners and yawn.

I am off to the post office and to the offices of Time-Warner Cable of NYC (I pay my bill there, thus saving $0.39 in postage) and then I'm off to look for a new bathroom soap container and a new toothbrush holder.

Lar, glad you're home!!!

The package with THE BRAIN and Joan Ryan was the only package in the first round of mail that I picked up.
