Wed., Jan. 16, 2008
LONDON - Bad news for Coco and Blinko — children don't like clowns, and even older kids are scared of them.
That's the finding of a poll of youngsters by researchers from the University of Sheffield who were examining how to improve the decor of hospital children's wards.
The study, reported in the Nursing Standard magazine, found all the 250 patients aged between 4 and 16 they quizzed disliked the use of clowns, with even the older ones finding them scary.
"As adults we make assumptions about what works for children," said Penny Curtis, a senior lecturer in research at the university.
"We found that clowns are universally disliked by children. Some found them quite frightening and unknowable."

ARE WE READY?
ASSOCIATED PRESS (http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2008Feb12/0,4670,TheaterShrek,00.html)
`SHREK' TO OPEN DEC. 14 ON BROADWAY
Tuesday, February 12, 2008
NEW YORK — Still no actor to play the title character, but "Shrek the Musical," the Broadway-bound adaptation of the popular DreamWorks Animation SKG feature, has its spirited princess, villain, opening date and New York theater.
The show will open Dec. 14 at the Broadway Theatre, with preview performances beginning Nov. 8, Bill Damaschke, president of DreamWorks Theatricals, announced Monday. An out-of-town tryout will be held at Seattle's Fifth Avenue Theatre, Aug. 14-Sept. 21.
No word yet on who will play Shrek or his friend Donkey but Princess Fiona will be Sutton Foster, currently starring as Inga in "Young Frankenstein." Foster has appeared in such Broadway musicals as "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Little Women" and "The Drowsy Chaperone."
Christopher Sieber, a member of the original cast of "Monty Python's Spamalot," will play the evil Lord Farquaad while Kecia Lewis-Evans will be the Dragon.
"Shrek," which will be directed by Jason Moore, has book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori. It is based on the book by William Steig as well as the movie, which, so far, has two sequels.
Perhaps HHW's Cannibal-In-Residence, George, can mosey to Seattle and review the Ogre.

Tuesday morning greetings! From my employer's website:
"Due to the weather, all Dayton Metro Libraries (Main and all branch locations) are on a 2 hour delay this morning, Tuesday, February 12."
Of course, the phone call notifying me of this arrived after I was up and showered, so here I am. Now, will we eventually close all together or will I sacrifice another vacation day and just not go in?

DR GINNY we got less than 2 inches of snow - no matter that they said 3 inches of ice and sleet followed by 3-5 inches of snow.

Who knows what will happen? We do have icy roads.....

Good morning, all! I slept quite well last night for the first timein over a month. At 2:34 am I woke to a panic attack that something had crawled across my hand, jumped out of bed, turned on all the lights and looked all over the sheets for any sign of bugs. Nothing at all.
I must say that I really like the new configuration of my apartment, and I'm quite happy that a lot of needless things have been tossed. I plan to continue this process for the next month or so, along with the weekly Steri-Fab mopping and daily vacuuming. And, outside of the current financial woes, the timing for this situation could not have been better in terms of my work load. Speaking of finances, I heard from my cabaret lady, and I think she's mailing the check tday (fingers crossed!).
This morning, I'm off to Toyland to copy all of my Lady Of The Slipper programs for the report I'm writing. And I'll stop and buy the new gallon of Steri-Fab.

Second things second, it looks like I'm snowbound this morning. Road crews have not even started working on our backroads.

Third things third, it would seem that DR TCB is not the only rich man on HHW according to my email this morning:
Dear Beloved
My name is Mrs.Margret King I am a dying woman who has decided to donate
what I have to charity through you.You may be wondering why I chose you.
But someone has to be chosen. I am 59 years old and was diagnosed for
cancer about 2 years ago,immediately after the death of my husband who
had left me everything he worked for.I have been touched by the lord to
donate from what I have inherited from my late husband to charity through
you for the good work of humanity,rather than allow my relatives to use
my husband's hard earned funds inappropriately.
I have asked the lord to forgive me all my sins and I believe he
has,because He is merciful. I will be going in for an operation,and I pray
that I survive the operation. I have decided to WILL/Donate the sum of
$5.5 Million (Five Million five Hundred thousand Dollars) to charity
through you for the good work of the lord, and to help the motherless,less
privileged and also for the assistance of the widows.
At the moment I cannot take any telephone calls, due to the fact that my
relatives are around me and I have been restricted by my doctor from
taking telephone calls because I deserve all the rest I can get.
Presently,I have informed my lawyer about my decision in WILLING this fund
to charity through you. I wish you all the best and may the good
Lord bless you abundantly, and please use the funds well and always extend
the good work to others.If you are interested in carrying out this task,i
will inform my Family Lawyer so that he can arrange the release of the
funds to you. I know i have never met you but my mind tells me to do
this,and I hope you act sincerely.I will pay you 30% of this money if you
will assist me because I am now too weak and frigile to do things myself
because of my cancer.
NB: I will appreciate your utmost confidentiality in this matter until
the task is accomplished,as I don't want anything that will Jeopardize my
last wish. I hope to receive your early response, as it will encourage me,
to stop establishing further contacts as it regards to this subject
matters.
Remain Blessed in The Lord

There is a lot on my tv schedule for tonight. For some reason the 9pm slot has 3 shows that i watch (AMERICAN IDOL, ONE TREE HILL and BIG BROTHER).
I think I will watch the first hour of IDOL at 8pm. And then switch to the premiere of BIG BROTHER. Then I'll record BOSTON LEGAL.
I must say the Hollywood part of IDOL is my absolute favorite. And considering how much time they spend on the auditions, I wish they made the Hollywood part 2 weeks worth of shows instead of just today and tomorrow.
Hopefully some of the really good singers that they featured will make it to the top 20 (or however many it is this year).

I agree with you DR Jennifer. I love the Hollywood rounds, and I would think tremendous tension could be worked up for a series of episodes showing the intense pressure they're all under to perform.
Inevitably, the Hollywood round episode is the lowest rated of the season, and I've never understood why.

Speaking of cows -- Welcome to Newbie cows! Are you Angus, Brahman, Holstein, Jersey, Longhorn, or Santa Gertrudis?
-
First Cason, now Miss Karen :D.
I'm sorry I have to go. My book discussion group is meeting this morning. We read "Gentlemen and Players" by Joanne Harris. I'm interested in what others have to say about it. There is a mystery to the story, and well my problem with most mysteries is I tend to get them. The more way out the mystery, oddly the less I enjoy it. I'm reading, figure it out fairly early, and think "I can't be right!" through the rest of the book. It sort of distracts me from the journey.
Possible spoiler:
I came up with various scenarios of how I could be right. At least it was the logical one, not one of the silly possibilities.
-
Miss Karen, it's grand, simply grand seeing you here!
Oh geez -- *blush* -- do go on...
(and right back at ya -- it's always grand to see you standing there in the disco :-*)

The sky is blue and I am some shade of off white.
..or a whiter shade of pale, perhaps...
-
DR Jane, I just finished a mystery which you book group may be interested in:
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/minx_the_dog/battalions.jpg)
I'd never heard of the author until Stephen King recommended this novel on one of his backpage essays in Entertainment Weekly.
The novel is set primarily at a country estate in England during WWI, but moves through time swiftly - starting with a present-day prologue - to startling conclusions.
I say conclusions, because just when you think you have the central murder mystery solved, another piece of the puzzle surfaces, leading to mystery upon mystery.
I think that the last novel I read of this caliber in the mystery genre was Wilkie Collins' THE WOMAN IN WHITE.
-
Ohh! Uranus is acting up! DR Karen talks of "a whiter shade of PALE" while I mention a novel entitled "In PALE Batallions."
Eerie!

There are no cows in IN PALE BATALLIONS.

King's recommendation appears here:

Otherwise, the only thing on my schedule for today is the CD and DVD release event at the Barnes & Noble at Lincoln Square for the new/previously-unreleased Nancy Lamott recordings. My friend, Phil, is in charge of organizing the event, and the line-up of "stars" is pretty cool.
DR elmore - Do you want to go? I'm sure you'll run into a bunch of old friends there. -And maybe even some enemies. ;) -I'll even spring for dinner before or afterwards.
DR Jose, I would love to but i can't!
-
we are are happy cows
A veritable plethora.
I'm tellin' ya! :)
-
Nancy LaMott.
Out in the hinterlands [and by hinterlands, I mean "Westchester County"], no one stocks such stuff.
But my copies are supposedly winging their way to me via Amazon! :)
-
We are dairy cows, Holsteins, Jerseys, Guernseys & Ayrshires.
We stole Molly the milkmaid's laptop while she was having a roll in the hay with the vet's assistant, a strapping young lad named Peter. Now we attempt to connect to the internet via Farmer B's wifi, but the signal strength in the barn is inconsistent.
This is a picture of moost of us (some were camera shy). But as you can see, we are are happy cows.
And which one are you in the photo? Oh, here's a site you and your friends might find mooving (as well as the rest of you cow lovers here at HHW):

However, I have to ask - Is "Heir" a common name in your family?
;)
As in, "I'd love to kiss ya, but I just washed mah 'Heir'"?
-
Ohh! Uranus is acting up! DR Karen talks of "a whiter shade of PALE" while I mention a novel entitled "In PALE Batallions."
Eerie!
I'm tellin' ya -- something is up with Uranus, DR td. Where is JRand when we need him to offer one of his planetary euphemisms, I mean, explanations...

I just washed mah 'Heir'"
...and I'm sittin' on my dairy-heir!

You could send someone a "Cow Card" for Valentine's .... how romantic!
-
LOL!!
Gave me my first huge laugh of the day. Thanks!
I remember that you weren't a fan of Chooster. I never had any problem with it/him/her.
I wasn't anti-Chooster. I once confessed I didn't "get" the Chooster vibe. That is ALL I ever wrote about it. Period.

Let your cows eat Monkey Cake!

We've got cows, we've got chickens, we've got monkeys, we've got choosters, we've got Sean Young - I'm tellin' ya, we've got us a whole menagerie! :)

...and I'm sittin' on my dairy-heir!
I hope it's not the source of the heir that you breathe!

Or Levains!!

The Abraham Lincoln heirloom tomato:
(http://www.southernexposure.com/Merchant2/graphics/AbeLincoln.jpg)
Where on earth did you ever come up with that?
-
TOD - I recently saw a high school production of West Side Story and while it had it shares of "issues" it was a great show. Most of the orchestra were students, and they really rocked the score. I'd have to say the score to this show is my favorite Bernstein music. I don't know much else. I have listened to "Mass" a few times and it probably deserves another listen soon.
-
That reminds me of the wonderful "Who am I?" and "Dream With Me."
Wonderful songs, indeed! And also "Build My House."
-
Where on earth did you ever come up with that?
Well, I was Googling images of Abraham Lincoln, and that was one of the options that popped up! :)
-
I have listened to "Mass" a few times and it probably deserves another listen soon.
DR Matthew - I encourage you to do so, and do it with the vocal score open in front of you! :)

Now that we can post photos again:

Cool, DR Ginny! :)

Thanks, DR Singdaw! Won't be long before I'll get to prepare the 2008 version of that feast - Easter's so early this year.

Nice! I may need to forward this to the director of Seussical that I'm in production with at the moment.

Be my guest, DR Matthew! Wouldn't it be fun to serve GE&H at the cast party?
I was thinking the same thing, although it's a middle school production, not sure how the green eggs would be received. I wouldn't be surprised if the parents in charge of the party is doing some sort of theme along those lines anyhow :)
-
DR Matthew - you do know those green eggs are Jell-o? This kind of thing was a real hit when I used to take it to covered dish dinners put on by DS Rob's Scout troop - middle school age boys.
-
Choosters and cows, oh my!
I used to enjoy choosters series of self portraits, myself...but then I also like singing Hindustanis.

We are having a beautiful day, think I'll take Sherlock for a hike.
-
Oohh... I guess we are getting some real snow today. :)
-
It never warmed up here. It's just as overcast (we had a little rain earlier, but it was a gentle rain and didn't last long) and very chilly as it was thing morning.
-
Well, I believe I am going to get bundled up and head out for a bit. :)
Laters...
-
I began my afternoon of viewing with two episodes of THE ODD COUPLE. First came Oscar and Felix's trip to the Caribbean where Felix, ditched by Oscar and his girl Nancy, invented the calypso song "Oscar, Oscar, Oscar." Hilarious.
-
In the second one I watched, Oscar saved Felix's life, and Felix spent the rest of the episode thanking him in ways that became increasingly irritating. One of my favorite episodes from Season 2.
-
Next, I watched a Godard film I had never seen before PIERROT LE FOU. It's a grab bag of seemingly everything Godard could think of to throw into the movie. Simple story surrounded by absurdity, all in the nature of "free cinema" which he so strongly espoused.
I can see why it wasn't a hit in its day. It's certainly an interesting experiment, and Belmondo is his usual gorgeous self. Anna Karina was married to Godard at the time, so naturally the camera lingers on her. She does have a small but lilting singing voice. (Yep, he threw in a couple of musical numbers for her that come in out of nowhere.)
-
As in, "I'd love to kiss ya, but I just washed mah 'Heir'"?
Since when did freshly washed hair/heir get in the way??
-
Next, I began watching the second disc of bonus features. The first was a 15 minute interview with her talking about the movie and her working relationship with him. She speaks English very well. Nice to not have to read subtitles after reading them for two hours previously.
-
...and I'm sittin' on my dairy-heir!
;D
-
We've got cows, we've got chickens, we've got monkeys, we've got choosters, we've got Sean Young - I'm tellin' ya, we've got us a whole menagerie! :)
Not to mention--oh, never mind. ;)
-
Page Eight Scarecrow Dance!!!
-
DR Cillaliz, be sure to print up all of your email correspondence and file them with your return receipts, etc. You will probably need then when dealing with Dell. I know I did.
-
The remaining supplements on the disc look lengthy, so I'm not sure I'll get them all finished before AMERICAN IDOL comes on. We'll see.
-
...or in keeping with today's cow theme .. to forgive is bovine
;D Good one, Karen.
-
I finished up the afternoon by skimming through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. No Luke or Noah, and they weren't included in the previews either.

Yeah, I like my version better.
-
Great news! I just read this in VARIETY about shows returning to production after the strike:
"Dramas moving forward include all three editions of the "CSI" franchise, "NCIS," "Without a Trace," "Cold Case," "Numbers," "Criminal Minds," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Moonlight."
Laffers given a greenlight are "Two and a Half Men," "How I Met Your Mother" and "The Big Bang Theory."
Net is hoping to crank out eight segs of its comedies and six or seven segs of each of its dramas. Newcomer "Moonlight" will likely produce fewer segs."
But they ARE going new episodes of MOONLIGHT which had been iffy as late as last week. I'm delighted with this news!

Perhaps HHW's Cannibal-In-Residence, George, can mosey to Seattle and review the Ogre.
der Brucer
I was thinking about it! And I'd also heard/read that Christopher Fitzgerald (who was in Young Frankenstein with Sutton in Seattle) will be in it, also.

I read a review of the Joan Crawford box set, and Warners has transferred TORCH SONG with a widescreen aspect ratio and anamorphic enhancement (the laserdisc was fullscreen). Can't wait now to see how this will affect the campy melodrama of the piece.
I did get a shipping notice for the set yesterday, but it won't be here earlier than tomorrow and probably not until Thursday.

Off now to continue with the bonus features on the PIERROT LE FOU set.

I think she should hand deliver CASH!!

-
Good morning, all!
And I'll stop and buy the new gallon of Steri-Fab.
Good Lord, elmore, we need to get you laid!

Yes. I search for the numbers on http://800notes.com/
Then I save them and name them "spam" and give them a different ring so that I know not to answer them in the future. They do call back.

I had a phone message that they are sending out the new parts directly to me and a techician will call to install them. This is good. I can check out the power cord and if it solves all the problems I can cancel the technician. Or have him come over and look and see that it's working. I'm still under full warranty and this is something that is fairly common with this laptop, so there weren't really too many questions and the parts are on their way here.

This morning I was cleaning the 5 1/2 inches of snow we had out of the driveway and the cutest Brittany Spaniel came bounding through the snow. I didn't recognize him and he wasn't on a leash so I called him over just as he was about to go into the road where a neghbor was coming by in an SUV. She stopped and said she didn't recognize him either. Luckily for Lucky (the name of the dog) he had his address on his collar. He was about 5 blocks from home and was very cold. She decided to let him in her SUV and gave him a ride home.

And of being ditzy! ;)
Then you must be REALLY filled with joy!

I later drove by the house and am happy to say it looked well taken care of and appeared that someone had done a lot of shoveling. Real Lemon is now packaging single-glass servings of Lemon and Lime crystals to add to your water or other beverages you love to add a twist to.
I find them rather refreshing, convenient, SAFE, and I recommend either to you.

DR Jane, did you see the link I posted? It's to the Bermese Mountain dog breed judging from this year
I just finished watching it and am now very dizzy ;D
I couldn't tell which one one. I think it was one of my top three, not sure what happened to the other two.
Thank you, that was fun. I believe the show recorded last night. :)
By the way, the breed comes from Bern, Switzerland, not Burma. It is a common mistake, and I noticed the big lettering, under Bernese, on the link says Bermese.
-
Back from some errands and whatnot and am now in for the evening, with some work to do.
-
Yeah, sure he is! He probably drinks.
Right, TCB. That Brittany Spaniel is OBVIOUSLY a lush hooked on sloe gin fizzes.

Tonight is the second half and Best In Show, so you need to record tonight too. The Working Group is tonight so you can cheer for whoever won the breed. I agree it was a little tough to follow

I think AOL Radio is stuck in a rut. In the last hour we have had two songs from Brigadoon, two songs from Barnum. two songs from Liza's Back, and three songs from Chicago (including two versions of Roxie).

West Side Story (especially "Tonight Quintet")

I don't know Bernstein's classical music. :-\

I gotta tell you.
-
Listening to a fun CD which has the Colpix Bye Bye Birdie cover album that features all their young stars of the time - James Darren, Shelley Fabares, Paul Peterson, etc. with Stu Philips and the orchestra - had no idea it had made it to CD - on a two-fer with another James Darren album.
-
Will we never get to page eleven?
-
The other album isn't a James Darren - it's a best of called Teenage Triangle and is a lot of fun.
-
It is such a relief when you find a dog and it has a tag with the address & phone number. And such a big pain to go door by door asking where the dog belongs.
-
So it is written, so it shall be done - page eleven.

Ron, I'm willing to try the crystals, however I think I prefer to go without if I can't have fresh lemon.
-
It is such a relief when you find a dog and it has a tag with the address & phone number. And such a big pain to go door by door asking where the dog belongs.
Especially when you are rushing to get to work and really don't have as much time as you would need to go door to door, but know you would do it anyway.
-
I still have my TEENAGE TRIANGLE album. It was a birthday present from, whatever age I was when the album was released.
-
Ron, I'm willing to try the crystals, however I think I prefer to go without if I can't have fresh lemon.
You could always take your own ;D
-
Keith would love that. ::) ;D

Yikes! It looks like a tomato brain!

I'm home.

My Dear Mother-in-law called the doctor for the results of her biopsy. He won't give them to her until her appointment on the 19th. ???
~~~Vibes for Good Biopsy Results for Jane's M-I-L!!~~~
-
Thank you George. I really hate one can't obtain their own personal test results over the phone. It seems a doctor shouldn't have the right to withhold the information if you want it.
-
Has anyone else started to be deluged with sales calls on your cell phone? I never had any until two weeks ago, and suddenly it is several a day. So, I have now added my cell phone number to the Do Not Call Registry.
Since my cell phone is my only phone, I added my number when the registry first started. I've never gotten calls from any "undesirables." :)
-
I would rather receive bad news while in my home environment, process it, & then go speak to the doctor.
Hopefully this doctor never gives out any info, bad or good, before the next visit. My personal experience is that good info is over the phone, & bad in person.
-
Let's hope this doctor simply likes to deliver any and all news in person.
-
That's for sure DR Laura!
-
Don't Nobody Send Me No Bad News...!
-
;D No bad news is the best.
-
Good Evening!
I went out for a walk earlier, and this is what I saw...
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/JoseSPiano/MagnoliaUWS.jpg)
Would you like a cupcake?
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/JoseSPiano/MagnoliaUWSCC3.jpg)
Or a Brownie? slice of Devil's Food Cake? Cup of Banana Pudding? slice of Chocolate Icebox Cake?
(http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e49/JoseSPiano/MagnoliaUWSCC4.jpg)
:)
-
A bundled up Jo....that would be a sight!
I found a dog today, and I could tell she was old and/or not feeling well. She did have tag and got to stay in fenced in patio and have a few cookies and some water. Her owner lives in the complex , and she had gotten out while he had a washer and dryer installed. I did not recognize her without her owner. She was quite sweet (and kind of limping along like me), but the only way I could figure out where she belonged was by her tags!
-
I can turn the ceiling fans off; it was sure warm when I got home today.
-
Gee Kerry, this must have been find a dog day. Glad the one you found had tags, too.
-
Good vibes to everyone for health and warmth and no bugs.
-
I am sure that the doctor just wants to be sure that if any questions need answering, that he is there, in person, to answer them for her.
-
I have not watched AMERICAN IDOL yet (well just the first few minutes).
Interesting that they have changed the format.
Like Canadian Idol, they can play instruments while they sing (guitar, or piano).
And I really like the other change. Instead of the contestants merely singing one song and getting the boot, there is now a second chance.
If you are really good you move on to the finals (2 days later). But if you do not impress the judges right away you get a second chance.
I love this idea!
-
-Just catching up on tonight's "American Idol" via the DVR... It's nice seeing, hearing extended clips of the singers this time round. And I'm digging the new format for Hollywood Week too.
-
DR DearReaderLaura - That's a beautiful card. :)
-
Another nice story with a happy ending.
-
I am sure that the doctor just wants to be sure that if any questions need answering, that he is there, in person, to answer them for her.
I'm fine with that, just give me the news first. It is much easier, for me personally, to absorb bad news first & have time to do some research BEFORE I speak to the doctor. When you are in shock much of what you hear goes over your head & it's difficult to think straight.
-
DR Jose, dare I say this.....having eaten at Mongolia Bakery I don't find the photo tempting.
-
'night
-
As for the Topic of the Day...
"Trouble in Tahiti" - especially the closing moments.
"Arias & Barcarolles" - This song cycle is written for two singers and two pianists at one piano (piano duet). I performed this in a concert where it was paired with "Trouble in Tahiti". A quite wonderful evening of music.
"Prelude, Fugue and Riffs" - The original recording with Benny Goodman really swings! However, there's a recording done by members of the Berlin Philharmonic which has to be one of the "straightest", least hip performances ever put on record.
"I Hate Music"
-
DR Jose, dare I say this.....having eaten at Mongolia Bakery I don't find the photo tempting.
But have you eaten at Magnolia Bakery?
;D
-
I love the way the dogs jump up and down and celebrate when they win.. so cute...
-
So that's what it looks like in the daylight. I've only been there at night.
I didn't recognize it with all the parking spaces.
-
There are parking spaces?
-
Thank you George. I really hate one can't obtain their own personal test results over the phone. It seems a doctor shouldn't have the right to withhold the information if you want it.
I agree with you, Jane. It seems cruel to expect a patient to wait until the next appointment. Such anxiety!
-
There are parking spaces?
You don't see any cars in front of the building, do you? Those, my dear, are parking spaces!
-
I see that new DR Cows is/are logged on. Welcome, DR Cows! Please tell you about yourselves. Have you read the Kritzer trilogy yet? Do you collect all of BK's CDs? Inquiring minds want to know.
Speaking of inquiring minds, where the h*** is Music Guy?
-
I must have chased DR Cows away. Oh, well.
-
That Jose is such a devil!
-
...And you know the weather is bad in NYC when there's no one in line at Magnolia Bakery. It really was kind of spooky when I walked in - I was the only customer in the shop. However, a few minutes later, a rush of people came in - I guess one of the movies had just gotten out around the block.
-
My PC is home again - sans burner (which I'm hoping may be replaced under warranty).
-
Welcome home, DR Tomovoz's PC.
-
I watched all of the bonus features on the PIERROT LE FOU supplemental disc. There was an hour documentary on the love affair, marriage, and divorce of Godard and leading lady Anna Karina which was very interesting and the best bonus in the set.
There's a very pretentious love letter to the film from a French critic and professor that would give Dr. Drew Casper some competition. It was 35 minutes long and very hard to sit through.
-
I enjoyed the changes in the Hollywood round of IDOL, but I certainly did not agree with some of the people sent through to the top 50. I couldn't believe they'd rave about people who were certainly singing flat, screeching, or noodling around the melody without actually SINGING IT.
Best change - getting rid of the group singing which I always found unfair and more about personalities meshing than actual singing. It's one-on-one singing as it should be.
Truth be told: I heard no one that immediately floored me with vocals. Of course, we still haven't heard everyone sing. I saw people jumping up and down but never heard them sing a note tonight. So, the real interest will start next week when we get to hear all of the men and women chosen for the semifinals.
-
Finished one motion picture on DVD and will now go for another.
-
Then I watched tonight's BOSTON LEGAL. Scott Bakula guest starred and sang a lovely rendition of perhaps my favorite song from a flop Broadway show - "Once Upon a Time" from ALL AMERICAN.
-
Tomorrow will bring MARGOT AT THE WEDDING. Am looking forward to that.
-
Oh!...
I did make it to Barnes & Noble for the Nancy Lamott CD/DVD release event. It was packed. In fact, by the time I got there, there were no more seats and no more standing room in the events room, so I and a bunch of other people stood outside the room looking and listening in. Kathie Lee Gifford, Lucie Arnaz, David Friedman and Christopher Marlowe were the main members of the panel. Lucie Arnaz sang ("Help Is On the Way"), and they all shared stories and memories of Nancy Lamott, as well as showed clips from the new DVD compilation. -And I also found out tonight that Ms. Gifford is writing a screenplay for a biopic on Nancy Lamott.
Wow! More than an hour has passed since the last post.
I return to work tomorrow. Have to work Thursday, as well. And then, it's another four-day weekend.
Ahhh, THIS is the life.
-
I watched tonight's episode of "Boston Legal," and now am watching "Carpoolers."
