I found out the flags are at half mast for John Dingell Jr. who passed away at the age of 92.
He was the longest serving member of Congress. His father, John Dingell Sr. was elected in 1932 and died in office after serving 22 years. Jr. joined the House on Dec. 13, 1955 and served for 59 years. His wife then took his place. For almost 90 years someone in the Dingell family has represented southeast Michican.
The NY Times has a long interesting article on him which I can't seem to open now.
