OK.  I have to tell you, I just don't have a mind for geneaology.  My mind just glazes over when I try to contemplate classifying relationships.  I just can't do it.

So the relative that is visiting from Minnesota is the wife of my DH's younger brother.  If she were my DH's sister, I would call her my sister-in-law.  But since she is related to his family by marriage, what is her relationship to me, exactly?

She is your own grandpa.

Oy.      :P

[ps: she is a dear and I'm nothing less than delighted that she is here.  :) ]

I would call her by her name ;)

I am so bored I could scream.

Go play on the Vixter's Wii.  And make your own Mii, too.

And I guess she will call her brother's husband her brother-in-law.

And not "You Silly So-And-So"?      :D

And speaking of opera:

Met Opera fans boo Zimmerman

Towards the end of article, there are hypertext links to an audio clip as well as a video clip.

Here's Howard Kissel's take on it. Sometimes all you need to do is simply stage the piece to show you know what to do with it. I loved Zimmerman's METAMORPHOSES but that doesn't mean she's the rght person to be asked back after screwing up LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR last year for the Met.

But calling her your sister-in-law is standard.

And I am nothing if not standard.       :D

I was thinking more along the lines of "irregular".

I used that site not too long ago to create a special birthday greeting for some DR or other.  :)  Can't remember now which one.

I already have a Mii - I am just so tired of everything! Tired of the TV tired of the DVDs tired of reading tired of looking at the inside of this house

I ma sure as soon as I am able to go back to work I will be desperate for this time again!

Laundry? It looks like someone mixing a tossed salad for a large gathering. (This is the same guy who cooks his turkey in the dryer.)

Do you really use vinegar in your laundry?     :)

I have in the past, but not presently.

However, for how vinegar can added to your personal laundering experience, CLICK HERE.

I really like the breakdown of types of clorthing:

This one might be tres important to our DR DAW:

Delicates: If you're washing delicate items by hand, follow the garment's care instructions, and add 1 or 2 tablespoons of vinegar to the last rinse to help remove soap residue.

A few here might appreciate:

Leather: Clean leather with a mixture of 1 cup boiled linseed oil and 1 cup vinegar. Carefully apply to any spots with a soft cloth. Let dry.

And MBarnum should take note of this one:

Silk: Dip silks (do not soak) in a mixture of 1/2 cup mild detergent, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and 2 quarts cold water. Rinse well, then roll in a heavy towel to soak up the excess moisture. Iron while still damp.

DR Vixmom, would the cold air hurt your throat?   How about just a short walk to the sidewalk (or in the backyard if there's a cleared path) just to look around?

Aren't there any local support groups for women going through what you're going through?  Maybe they have  a padded room where you can just scream yourself silly.

DR vixmom - I do feel badly for you.  Could you go for a little walk around the neighborhood?  Bundled up tightly, of course.

Oh - I see DR DtM already suggested it.

Hello all, I had to show up today, not only to thank you all for the birthday wishes, but to celebrate the monumental occasion of Bruce's blogs B'day. Although I have not been around much I do appreciate the time I spent here and the amazing people I have met, and the laughter the blog brings into my day. Congrats on yet another year of wonderful fabulous-ness. May it continue to bring joy into peoples lives for years to come.

Do we need to watch tonight's IDOL?  I can't see there being any other top 2 other than:
Scott McIntyre (blind guy)
Lil Rounds (black mother)

If you don't watch, you'll not see the performance by the other top-three winner. (Remember, you're the one who complains about inadequate exposure.) And without watching, how can you make a personal evaluation on whether or not Scott McIntyre or Lil Rounds earned a top spot?
