Just FYI, the official stated start time for SUMMER SHORTS is 2:15 (they stagger the start times of the shows at 59E59), but you do have to leave time to go up two flights of stairs or take the elevator; of course you can get there as early as you want.  :) :)

Just thought I'd check in quickly before I head out to get ready for "Bukowsical!"  We have to report to this "meeting place" about an hour and 15 minutes before our show, since we don't have any great length of time at the theatre to get ready for we go on.  The fact is, it's kind of pointless to get there THAT early, as most people circumvent the purpose by getting ready either before we meet or waiting until 5 minutes before curtain to wander around asking where their pants are...

Anyway - hope everyone is well, and I hope to see Jason and Jose later!

Today I am going to paint.

Didn't I just finish painting? Does it never end?

I am going to paint the minister's office.

Wonder if anybody toiled late night to make one of these for that special day?  ;)

Judging from old family photos and my early recollections...I think my sister did for her wedding in 1970.

"oooh, riveting" ... "couldn't put it down" .. "a must-have for every home library"  -- The NY Times review

LOL, DR Miss Karen!

Actually, people eat this stuff up.  Today's group was small - only 4 people - but 3 of them were very engaged and articulate.  The 4th was one of the loony ladies who hangs out in the library and she left when it became clear to her that she was not going to be allowed to monopolize the program.

Someday I'll catch up.  Summer is coming to an end, and not only am I returning to my old job (hence the whole "move" debacle) I'm going back to an old school as well.  That should be exciting.  Being working on Annie, Get Your Gin which even with the re-writes of the latest revival, is still as cute and funny as it's original.  It's a fun show.  Oh, and did I mention the orchestrations are by our DR Elmore?  So far, all I've heard is what I've played on the piano, but I'm looking forward to the first orchestra read-though.

Thanks for all the NYC posts.

TOD

Not really a movie, but the 1990 New York Opera production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with Sally Ann Howes.  It was filmed for Great Performances, but I think it is the best production I have ever seen on film (unless someone is hoarding an Original Broadway Cast DVD).

Don't work too hard, DR Ben. I was planning to work this weekend until my power cord died.  I've decided that's a sign that I should just relax and take this time off.

Hell, my power cord died years ago.

TOD:

MURDER IN THE BLUE ROOM (1944)

The Bollywood film TARZAN IN FAIRYLAND (1955)

The TV movie SUMMER GIRL starring Diane Franklin

TARZAN IN FAIRYLAND?  They have made a movie entitled TARZAN IN FAIRYLAND?

Well, there goes my original idea.

I went to the bank and the post office and stopped at the Crystal Flash gasoline station where I saw an eight year old girl with long blonde hair wearing a tube top and a mini skirt and flip flops do an interpretative dance (or African fertility dance) in front of the Hostess Twinkie rack.

Her mother was yakking to the cashier about the new $20 Hoosier Lottery Ticket and didn't seem interest at all in her daughter displaying her terpsichorean talents.

At her age, she is allowed to work, as long as there is a parent or guardian present.

Sadly, the AVENUE Q cast recording is also on sale - for $10 -half of what I sell it at the theatre!!

Yeah, but you can't flirt with the salesman at Virgin.

If anyone wants a Central Park tour, you should hit up DR Noel.  He gives a brilliant tour.  I keep wondering why he doesn't go get a license and start making some money off that.  Might as well exploit your talents!!  :-D

Now you tell me!  I'll try & remember that for the next time I'm in NY.

Very clever.  This one is my favorite

I can't remember which Closer episode it was, but Keith backed up so we could admire your editing.  You obviously edited out as much as possible of a corpse, I think it was a corpse, twitching. ;D

I liked that movie, but the book it was based on, COMPANY OF COWARDS, was certainly different from the film.
