My brother Randy just called. Our Aunt Jenny, my mother's sister-in-law, fell the other day and injured her head. She was declared brain dead today and my cousin Jennifer will be taking her off support tomorrow. This news breaks my heart. She was a wonderful woman and I will miss her enormously.

My prayers and thoughts to Larry, Aunt Jenny, and the entire family.

People are so funny.  I was listening to the cast album of Zorba, seeing if that was something I might want to revisit like we did for Follies.  I had the original CD with the green cover and hearing it I was actually shocked at the ineptitude of the mix - horrifying.  Then I read that the Angel Broadway redo was much better so I bought that - it's actually worse.  I will now try to license it because I suspect we can work some magic - it certainly wouldn't be hard to improve it at least 1000% and I really like the score.  We shall see.

To echo George, I would love to get me some Kimmel-ized Zorba.

How about doing Funny Girl? I would love to hear that Overture Kimmel-ized if the tracks still exist.

This week on Broadway radio show with PETER FILICHIA, James Marino and Michael Portantiere mention around the 1hr & 2 min mark of todays show Bruce Kimmel and Liz Callaway (They say its the 1st, but really 2nd) recording The Story Goes On and how great it is and that one of them (hard me who says) still listens to it.  Listen for what they call the record label at first. :-) They go on to praise her interpretation of the songs etc

Oh and they said they want to interview BK on the show about the FOLLIES re-release!!

Speaking of that Podcast with Filichia, Marino, and Portantiere, I'm doing it tomorrow night, talking about our new Follies.

I'm not going to see the helper tonight - I'll go to their August show.  I am so happy to just stay in for the evening.

DR Elmoore

I was talking with actor Michael Walters yesterday and he mentioned that he has played The Toymaker in two productions of Babes In Toyland (I think he mentioned Alice Hammerstein?) I mentioned that you are working on its restoration and I know you been talking about it for awhile, but where is the project actually in terms of completion and recording? (I hope I am not getting this mixed up with any of your other wonderful projects that have been recorded)

BK

I might have missed your reply from the other night but.......

Has there ever been a CD release of Elmer Bernstein score for Thoroughly Modern Millie and if not would you consider releasing it? It is the only score he ever won an Oscar for

I was just listening to that last week. Larry did some great orchestrations for that one. Nice work by all.

Thanks, JRand and Jane, for the vibes. I have six pages of notes that I now need to get into some sort of skeleton and then push it through. I paused and put Mahler's Fourth on. Great energizing music. (And no, no "Follies." I can't write much with English lyrics in the background. Too distracting.)

Tomorrow morning Keith will be having laser surgery on his eye.  After the short surgery, without any drugs, his vision should be clear again in his right eye.
