I have to tell you that the temperature right now here in Oakland is a sizzling F 66!

The fog is only partially burned off but we should see relatively blue skies for the rest of the afternoon...until about 7 p.m. or so when the fog (marine layer) begins rolling back in across the bay.

I was sorry to hear about the devastating rain and heat in NYC. I'm particularly sorry for my mom's sake as she and my aunt are in NYC this very minute...probably just getting din-din. They had a big day of riding up and down the Hudson and doing some shopping. Tonight: "Les Miz".

General Mills is on board - Steve Luker (no relation to our beloved Rebecca). Steve did the B'way company of the 42nd Street revival, and my pal Todd Ellison, who conducted it, loved working with him. And, as I said, he just came in and nailed it perfectly (especially after the actor we saw today who read for it - perfectly acceptable but not funny - Steve was funny). So, that's one less headache. I guess the actress is out, since it's after five, and I think we'll make the next offer.

OH! And for a special treat, you can always head to Petrossian at 7th Ave and 58th for pastries - some of the best croissants in NYC - and coffee in the afternoon. -Although, I guess you could also enjoy some caviar and smoked salmon if you'd lke.

WOW! Watching the news and seeing the footage from all the storm damage and travel woes this morning... I guess I got lucky.

I had started off by trying to grab a train at 145th Street - right by my apartment. Well, the platform was packed, and after a few minutes, I headed back out of the station and started walking down to 135th... and then down to 125th. I had been hearing lots "rumbling" as I was walking down St. Nicholas Ave., so I figured the trains were running again somewhat. After just a minute or two on the platform, and A train pulled into the station on the local track. Then a minute later, a D Train pulled in on the express track, and since the A had not pulled out of the station yet, I crossed over to the D. Then it was just one stop to Columbus Circle where another A train was waiting... Which I took to Penn Station.

Inconvenient trip, yes. Long trip, yes. But I have to say, it didn't feel that hot as I walked down St. Nicholas Ave. from 145th to 125th. And, thankfully, the A/C was working on the trains.
