LOL, except for the memorial part, DR Cilla.

It's for a guy who was "the voice" of a number of organizations around town, including the band I play in.  We're doing "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" in a version that is part straight and part Dixie.  He would want people to celebrate and have fun.  He was in his 80s and had a good life.  It's more of a celebration of life than a sad occasion, although I'm sure many people will be sad.

I woke up too early this morning then stayed in bed too long finishing a book.  I had a hard swim at the pool today as it was crowded and I had to swim faster with multiple people in my lane.  Now I'm tired.

Elmore, or anybody else for that matter, do you know if anyone is turning "Miss Pettigrew" into a musical? The book fairly sings. There seem to be song cues and well-thought-out exchanges that suggest lyrics.

John G - This article from 2008 suggests that Universal was considering a musical of Miss Pettigrew years ago - for Billie Burke!!!!

DR Cillaliz - your friend just looks like he'd have a voice.  I hope the service is everything he'd want it to be and that it's comforting for his family and friends.

BK, your inscription was really touching, and it certainly perked up my interest inreading your memoir. And what a wonderful sparkling gift that came with it. Now I wish I weren't going to PIPE DREAM tonight. I want to stay here and read.

I didn't get an afternoon nap, so I hope I stay awake for PIPE DREAM!

I can't wait for you to read it, since you're a major supporting player and were there for so much of it.

I have finished season two of Forbrydelsen II - I really did love this even more than season one, and the final episode is truly what they call a corker - had me on the edge of my seat, in shock, mouth open.  Wonderfully done.  There's a little "making of" on the final disc - just about twenty minutes of interviews with the producer Piv Bernth and best of all, star Sophie Grabol - if I wasn't in love with her enough, this put me over the edge - bright, funny, charming, and oh so beautiful.

I found this advice at a site called DeLallo in a section called Pasta 101:

"NO Rinsing. Pasta should never, ever be rinsed. The starch in the water is what helps the sauce of your choice adhere to your pasta. The only time you should ever rinse your pasta is when you are going to use it in a cold dish like a pasta salad or when you are not going to use it immediately. In cases such as those, rinsing the pasta helps to stop the cooking process. Drain well before storing."

Thanks for that info. It was for a cold pasta salad.

It really is a marvelous book, MR BK.  I enjoyed every page.  And as I wrote, it's like listening to you tell the story.

It was that good.

LOL....I just went back and added a couple of sentences to the review - correcting the spelling of Varese Sarabande, mentioning the photo section, and my short list of favorites:

Not of This Earth
Superman
Ultimate Titanic
Haines His Way.

The only problem with the book, is that now I want to play all of the CD's again.

Oh, I ran out.  The refill is sitting at the pharmacy, but I couldn't find anyone to pick it up for me.

Oops, meant to link that airline TAKE ME ALONG ad

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRPWbraGpR8

Loved this ad!  Thank you, DR FJL, for posting it because it helped me find another of my favorites:

Great Wide Way to New York

Actually, I liked the radio version better and tried to time my drive to grad school classes to hear it on WJR-AM radio in Detroit.

Thanks for that link, Ginny.  I don't recall ever hearing that particular ad. but the comments say it's a classic.
