What do the HHW Experts think of this television:

Looks like a great deal, price-wise. I paid 800 for my 32 inch Westinghouse LCD from Crutchfield.

oh well....I bought the album that DRJENNIFER pictured above.

I only paid 11.98 + tax at WalMart for Mr Elliott Yamin.  I can't say I don't like the CD....but it's not what I really wanted to hear.  I like Elliott's voice a lot, but the song selection is not so hot - for me anyway.

Many of the songs have 15-20 second instrumental intros....and technically the whole album is a mess....  Not much balance and the vocals are sometimes hard to find in the music.

I think I will be more excited about Elliott's next CD which I hope will be STANDARDS or songs I know...or songs by real songwriters...

An Internet buddy of mine (Mark) with whom I mostly trade obscure Manhattan Transfer songs, last year asked if I could record video clips of Elliott Yamin and make a CD compilation for him.  I did and it turned out that he had found enough clips to make a 2-CD compilation.  I've never watched any of the Idol shows, but I found that I enjoyed Elliott's work that I recorded...most of it was live. :)

DR Ginny, I hope the meeting went well and you achieved your desired results???

DR DearReaderLaura - it went as well as could be expected and we're not anticipating immediate results.  What did come out of it, though, was a Network "We're-Mad-as-h**l-and-we're-not-gonna-take-it-anymore" vibe that the administration finally acknowledged.

Fingers crossed that it is the bargain it seems to be DR EDISAURUS.

I liked what I saw of Yamin on AI much more than what I hear on the CD, DR GEORGE.

Have written two pages, had some lunch, and am trying to track down the DHL overnight package that was supposed to arrive at noon.  Apparently, the DHL driver that delivers to my mail place is an idiot - he was there this morning and left four packages, none of them mine, despite my package being on his truck since nine this morning.

The specs look good. Have you seen it in person? LCDs are tricky not only due to the sometimes less than stunning black levels but also the viewing angles are so quirky. This one says it has a 170 degree viewing angle (so there won't be picture dropoff if you get out of the chair or move to the right or left off center axis.) But the only way to be sure about this is to see it in person. Plasmas and rear projection sets are less prone to this problem.

But the price is nice and it seems like a lot of set for the money.

It looked good in the store....comparable to the others around it....better than some.

The only downside in the online reviews is the the Sound Capability....and I use a Surround Sound system anyway.

TOD: Pushing the envelope, but not in a fun way...
Taxi Driver (first time I had seen such violence on screen)

Luminous Procuress (I saw this in HS and obviously realized I had led a very sheltered life.)

Bastard out of Carolina (Horrific child abuse but a lovely Van Dyke Parks score)

Paris Trout (David Shire score--I had lots of friends in this or I would have walked out. Disturbing and repulsive.)

Pushing the envelope in a fun way:
TFNM
The Southpark movie

Right. TV speakers aren't really made to handle the sophisticated soundtracks of modern movies and TV shows. They're there ONLY if you have nothing else.

I see also that this TV uses a coax digital audio out. That will get you Dolby Digital surround soundtracks from any HDTV shows that have them if you run a single RCA audio cable from the TV out to your receiver. That also makes a GREAT deal of difference in how much you'll enjoy widescreen HDTV. The sound is at least half the glory!

DHL has been trying to contact the driver for over an hour - he doesn't or won't respond.  Which means this overnight package won't be getting here until tomorrow.  I've told DHL that that is unacceptable and that if their stupid driver returned to his home base without having delivered it, that I expected someone to retrieve the package and drive it to my home this evening.  We'll see.

I love the graphics that open the site for Kenneth Branagh's film of Mozart's MAGIC FLUTE, but I cannot tell at all from the preview what is going on!

Oooh, George Bush is sounding testy on the news.  What hasn't that oaf been impeached?

Not a peep from the pressing plant lady or the DHL people.  Both will be getting another call from me in thirty minutes - and I'm done being reasonable.

I actually left a second voice message for the pressing plant lady - she obviously needs to sharpen her communication skills, which are non-existent.  When you know someone is waiting on product, how do you not have the courtesy to tell them what's going on?  Especially, when you tell them you will.

Because impeachment would be a waste of time - there is no hope the Senate would convict! (And if they did, you'd have President Cheney!)

Good luck to MR BK with DHL.
