Re: My July 4th question.

I guess it doesn't work when it is written down.

I verbally asked six different people and they all answered "no".

So my suggestion is ask people today

"Today we are celebrating our Independence Day from England. Does England have July 4th?"

And see how many people say no.

And BTW I also learned that not all countries have July 4th.  We follow the Gregorian calendar. The following countries do not: Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Nepal, Iran and Afghanistan

LOL Mike.

I am hoping for another storm tonight. That would keep the neighbors from lighting their dangerous fireworks. Someone across the alley lights those ones that fly up into the air and explode. A bad thing as dry as it is.

Computer animation in 1983/84 wasn't what it is now. So when they filmed The Natural (which I haven't seen), for the baseball stadium scenes they used a mix of live extras with cutouts.
My landlady acquired some of those cutouts, which she proudly displays on July 4th.    :)

Now I know why I always thought those actors were rather stiff in their performance.

What a great TWILIGHT ZONE-ish image!

There are too many people in this building who need a life. My neighbor, who's generally pretty normal. has got herself involved with a fight on the fifth floor, rumors are flying mostly about someone having cancer, she's fighting with her husband who's friends with one of the fifth floor folk whose wife has been going through cancer treatments, and she's trying to drag me into it with "who the fuck said what" - ridiculous!

DR JohnG, yesterday I cooked a pork loin and made barbeque sauce. We made our own sandwiches with LOTS of meat.

Love it.

I'm missing something.  Are scorpions naturally phosphorescent?

Make my pie. Cleaned the bird's cage. Loaded the dish washer. And am roasting a pumpkin. I want a nap. But I can't do until the pumpkin roasts. Another hour.

I'm becoming obsessed with this story out of Georgia about the father who left his 2-year-old son in the car. It gets sleazier by the second and I am riveted to the updates.

The laundry is finished and the bed has clean linens. I'm ready for a nap.

Happy 4th, everyone!

And thank you for the kind words, BK. I just love the material I get to sing in this new Kritzerland, especially the songs from Time and Again.

Have a kick-back, barebque-y, fireworks-y kinda holiday, all!   :D

I planned to spend today catching up on the dozens of things that need to be done around the apartment, but I seem to be in the mood for a nice, relaxed day. I'll try to get a few things done just the same.

Glad to see today's TOD. Aside from being a big fan of Dorothy Fields, I don't really have much to add, but am interested to know of other female songwriters.

I do recall when Dory Previn was writing in the 1970s. A friend was a fan.

Good morning, all.

According to the local rag, last night's power outage affected only some 500 people in Danbury, so this was a rare instance of my being part of a small outage.  It was out for over ten hours, and the generator performed like a champ.  Now I just have to go around and reset clocks, since they lose it in the 10-15 seconds before the generator kicks in.

Glad it worked out so well.

I feel the same way. Hope you get the storm. California needs a whole lot of them, as we're in a SEVERE drought. But nothing in the forecast.
