For those of you familiar with New York hotels, the Milford Plaza no longer exists. It's been upgraded and renovated and turned into

Row

as in "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" gently up 8th Avenue (8th Avenue is a one-way street going uptown)

It looks like a higher end place than the old Milford Plaza (AKA Mildew Plaza)

Good morning, all! I went back t bed for an hour, but i am on my first cup of coffee and organizing my thoughts for the day. Haydn's Stabat Mater is this morning's Sunday selection.

I will hopefully begin the laundry soon; there isn't much, but i'd like to get it out of the way. While that's running, I hope to take apart another section of the apartment, clean, discard, and reassemble.

Last night, I watched the first CD of the blu-ray edition of the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice. which looks quite wonderful. I will finish it this afternoon.

Sorry to hear about the breakin, BK. I'm glad the session went well.

I'm sure the Macbeths I know wish they lived there. In my dreams, my Lady M lives in white trash hell.

I was supposed to work yesterday but at the last minute it got cancelled.

I was going to go to Trader Joe's early to avoid the crowds but the chilled and freezer units were not working so they had no, literally, chilled goods (milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, etc) and no frozen goods (frozen veggies, prepared frozen dinners etc.) I didn't need bread or boxed milk or other non-perishables so I went home and went back to bed.

I went early today and the store was back to normal so I shopped and then came home and we had breakfast.

Friday evening we watched an odd 1949 Doris Day movie

It's a Great Feeling

Not bad, but not a stand out in the Doris Day collection.

Yesterday afternoon we watched

Starlift

It's a Warner's Brothers version of Stage Door or Hollywood Canteen. Fun stuff.

Last night we re-watched The Harvey Girls. It was a fun 2 day movie marathon.

We watched a film called BAD WORDS last night, directed by and starring Jason Bateman.

The film has its problems, but what we really enjoyed was the fact that much of it was filmed all over the Sportsman's Lodge where we stayed when we were in Los Angeles last December.

Friends of mine posted this on Facebook...it's too good to not share.

Restaurant Watches Old Surveillance And Shares Shocking Results On Craigslist

Quote
A busy NYC restaurant kept getting bad reviews for slow service, so they hired a firm to investigate. When they compared footage from 2004 to footage from 2014, they made some pretty startling discoveries. So shocking, in fact, that they ranted about it on Craigslist!

If you haven't read this, I highly recommend it.

BK...you've been ranting about this sort of thing for a long time.  Now, there's PROOF! ;)

DR George, I loved this! What is it with all the damned food photos? I have one FB friend who posts nothing but photos of his vegan meals, at least two a day. WTF?  What is the point of a photo of a plate of food? Uneaten or half-eaten? Really?

I have another friend who posts nothing but photos of himself scowling, looking foolish, looking smug, looking moronic, looking elated, occasionally in some activity, and occasionally half-dressed; NOTE: put your shirt back on (actors, oy!). What looked good 20 years ago may not today.

Shocking break-in news from MR BK....  BUT great news about the recording session.

I like DR LAURA's blog photos and DR CILLA LIZ's photo AND the review of the Hough show were much appreciated!

All kinds of things yesterday on HHW.

We had a good day at WOW with a total of almost $700.  We may be open one more week, or one more day....we shall see what the landlord says.  He suddenly thinks that he needs to rent our SPACE NOW....even though he only has about a 30% occupancy in the whole mall....

I also saw STEEL MAGNOLIAS from the audience last night.....some difficulty with the sound that I hope can be resolved.....there is kind of a battle of wills going on between the Tech Director and the show Director....I am trying to work with everyone....but I don't think it will ever be more than satisfactory.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Oh, dear, it appears that I didn't log off yesterday when we left for the wedding.  I may have looked like I was sitting here like so much fish, but I actually was having a grand time.  Here we are, well into the reception after almost 8 hours.  We look a little wilted because we were tired and it was pretty warm inside the reception venue.

Skip's (and Ellen's and Tom's) show HERRINGBONE in Philly got a terrific review from Toby Zinman, the critic for the Inquirer, which seems to be the main paper for theater there.

Review: HERRINGBONE
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/phillystage/266924652.html

POSTED: SUNDAY, JULY 13, 2014, 9:32 AM
By Toby Zinman
For the Inquirer
Flashpoint Theatre does it again: the second show of their summer
season (following their opener, Miz Martha) is a knockout, with Ben
Dibble giving a performance of stunning virtuosity. Herringbone is a
strange and compelling musical by anybody's standards.

In addition to walking Bride Lauren down the aisle, Richard was also tapped for the father-daughter dance.
