TOD:
I've been listening to Bert Kaempfert and his Orchestra. Didn't know until recently that he had signed The Beatles first back in their Hamburg days.
As a corollary, I have also been listening to Al Hirt. Ya gotta love Hirt's all-out horns-to-the-wall rendition of Milton DeLugg's immortal "Hooray for Santy Claus" which, for the uninitiated, is the title theme from that one-of-a-kind yuletide classic, Santa Claus Conquers The Martians. He wails his horn so hard that he could have popped his eyes out or blown out a few stitches at least. I can't imagine not having had a headache after that recording session. The song is fun though, even though once you have heard it, you'll have a lot of difficulty not humming it uncontrollably, and that's not always fun.
[Kaempfert and Hirt both recorded the song "Java" which was written by Allen Toussaint for piano.]
I guess I've been in a trumpet mood, certainly not that I'm brassy LOL.
