I was over to my bank branch for an hour. These asses made about five charges to my debit card, but only two were posted, in total of $488.00.  The bank has issued a new debit card and given me the name of the company  that placed the charges. I just spoke to them and they are issuing credit.

Do I think the nightmare is over? Not by a long shot.

And I find online that I am overdrawn by $400 for two unauthorized debit card charges. So, I'm off to the bank to fight this mess.  I knew there was some weird hankypanky going on with this computer. So, I now have no debit card for 4-7 days, which is bad but it's worse that I have no access to whatever small amount of mney I have in the bank, thanks to these damned crooks.

I hope folks will not take this as a criticism, because I do not mean it as such. But I am curious about something. I notice quite that quite a few fellow DRs are writing "lightening" when referring to a meteorological event.

I had always thought that it was "thunder and lightning," but "I am lightening the color of my jeans by adding bleach to the wash."

Perhaps it is a regional thing?

Perhaps spellcheck can't correct incorrect usage.

I've eaten most of those things before. Just not all at once. And the sickest sounding to me? The Jello Salad Ice Cream.

Just received from Amazon (and hoping that I didn't already buy it), "The Ghastly Love of Johnny X!"  I just searched HHW and found that I posted last year about it being available for purchase from Amazon, but I don't know why I didn't (or wouldn't) buy it.

Anyway, I really won't have time to watch it this weekend, until maybe Sunday afternoon.  I have a union meeting tonight, then I must hurry down to the theater for the end of "An Improbable Peck of Plays 3D," so that I can pick up the money from any ticket sales.  Tomorrow, I have to help my sister with some stuff before the show, and on Sunday, I'm working concessions for the Washington Center for the Performing Arts.  We have no show at all this Sunday, so after working concessions, I should have time to watch the new "Doctor Who" season premiere and "Johnny X."

The new Fosse bio says that Stanley Donen found Gwen Verdon ugly and his way of dealing with that was to shoot as few closeups of her as possible and try to get the camera far away when she wasn't dancing. I need to go back and watch the movie again with that thought in mind. (I always thought she was the best thing in the movie.)

I love DAMN YANKEES.  I told my mother I was going to see Dam - n Yankees.

I love Gwen Verdon and I really enjoy Ray Walston.  But I really really love Tab Hunter!

Were they able to issue you the debit card right then, or do you have to wait for a week or two?

Oh dear DR JOHN G - you mean there is finally something I can agree with Pauline Kael on?

I have seen the RoadShow version of SOUTH PACIFIC DR RLP......Ray still seems the same to me, but maybe I should watch it again.

Yes DR TCB - I think Mr Tab Hunter is very good in DAMN YANKEES, but when I was small, I wondered why he would hang around with someone old enough to be his mother....or so it seemed.

Elmore, listening to Songs of New York at work. Love the Joseph Papp version of Please Don't Monkey With Broadway. Forgot he'd recorded it.

I had to do that chart at the last minute, since Papp wouldn't commit. I think we had nearly finished the sessions when he agreed to do it and that I was never paid for the chart since the money was pretty much gone by then.

My memory is that he committed on Thursday, McGlinn rehearsed with Stanley Silverman on Friday since Joe was out of town and they set the key. I scored it on Saturday, Stanley Silverman called McGlinn and suggested it be copied up or down one-half step (I forget now), which I did.  On Monday, Papp showed up like a mafia don surrounded by a lot of yesmen, was very unpleasant to one and all, we did several takes and then he decided it was too high or too low and the musicians had to sightread it in the key I originally wrote it. In the instrumental break there's a missing chromatic piano line because the pianist couldn't figure it out fast enough and Papp was unpleasant and impatient. He was a complete pig.

I think Judy Sherman told me later that there were around 40 splices on that track to make him sound as good as he does.  Thank you, Stanley and Joe!

I do like my chart, though.
