http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sous-vide

.  THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!  I know Skip has been using this method for a while but I have never had the pleasure of tasting meat cooked using this method before

I have never done this. But I knew the name. I watch a lot of Top Chef. :)

Singslovely. Of course the word was nappie but the IPAD "corrected " it for me. In fact it just tried to do it again but I was able to override it this time.  However nap pie seems like it might be especially delicious

Not only delicious, but a very useful thing to keep around.

The weather here has been unusually warm in fact it appears to be warmer here than it was inns but it is hard to tell as they use some strange imaginary way of telling temperature here. They all pretend to understand it but I know it's just sekar orate practical joke being played on foreigners.  We all know that 26 degrees is freezing weather!!

TOD - We have a pretty well-stocked kitchen, including some back-up items in the freezer (like boneless chicken breasts).  I shop a couple of times a week, mostly for fresh produce - we always have to have Gala apples, grapes, leaf lettuce, baby carrots - and dairy products.  That said, I'd be glad never to have to shop again and I'd gladly turn meal-planning and cooking over to someone else.

But this is why we have servants, DR Ginny.  Apparently you don't know how to delegate!

Well there were not a LOT of people shopping this morning....so it was about one hour from door to door with Molly and me.

Today since we were going to the DISCOUNT grocery store, I bought a few weeks worth of canned goods, green beans, corn, etc.....some bread to freeze and some dry staples spaghetti, macaroni, noodles, paper goods like plates and trash bags....I saved about $35 over prices at WalMart where I usually shop weekly....so the savings will be amortized over the next month or so.

I woke up at 5am with the solution to an AAUW administrative problem and have just completed a spreadsheet to distribute at tonight's board meeting.  Time to get myself put together to go have it duplicated, pick up some prescriptions for Mom, drop off a book to Lynne, and deliver the prescriptions.  Maybe a nap this afternoon...

Thank goodness my husband doesn't mind eating out, carrying in, or just having soup and sandwiches from time to time.

As for delegating, that's what my spreadsheet is all about...

TOD:
That answer depends a lot on whether or not you cook. If you do, then you have to stock up on things like flour, sugar, vegetable oil, and various spices. If you don't cook then those large items tend to sit around for years at a time and when they finally get really old, you have to throw them out. Been there, done that. If you don't cook, then you need things like milk, cereal, bread, coldcuts, fruit, mini-carrots and microwavable frozen entrees, (and maybe some bagels and cream cheese if you're a fancy person). What I'd really like to be able to buy is a small amount lettuce for my sandwiches without buying an entire head of lettuce which will go bad in a matter of days.

Oh, and does anyone know how to use just half an avocado and store the other half without it immediately turning brown and yucky? I was planning to Google that today.

Only if you have one of those gadgets that completely seals a food product will that work. Leave the pit in, sprinkle with a little lemon and you can otherwise keep that half for an hour or so.

They sell cut and sealed avocados here in San Antonio, but those are never ripe.
