Sal told me that Jill was once his "main squeeze".

BTW: I just spoke to a very good friend of Bobby's, who has known him for years, and she finds this very had to believe.

Author seems quite credible.....not as if a story about Bobby Sherman would sell many extra copies of the book.

The ongoing affair with Miss Haworth lasted several years and is recounted from interviews with her.....in fact the book is dedicated to her.

But that's only a part of the book.....he had a most interesting life and career arc....and his relationship with his family is most interesting to read about.

I haven't read this particular book, so I can't really comment on it.

However, I will say that authors who write scandalous biographies of dead people, who can no longer dispute their claims, have ruined this "business" for those of us who avoid the sensationalism.

Back in the 1970s, when I was writing non-fiction books about Hollywood, I had no problem garnering interviews with virtually everybody I approached (e.g. Cary Grant, Mervyn Leroy, Mary Pickford, etc.).

Then, a certain author I knew (whose name I won't mention) came out with that piece of crap that claimed Errol Flynn was a Nazi spy, and suddenly the well dried up.  People who I'd interviewed on earlier books (e.g. director Gordon Douglas) would no longer give interviews.  They no longer trusted any biographer.

I recall that this aforementioned author used to "authenticate" his claims with statements like: "So-and-So told me this before he died."

Right!

I just hope that, if the information in the Mineo bio is not true, Mr. Sherman and Mr. North sue the author.

That would force him to prove his allegations in a court of law.

I found out (years after the fact) that a certain author who wrote a certain "biography" of a certain actress did not actually conduct some of the "star" interviews alluded to in his "book."  ;)

SO, I had a greast idea.... I love left overs and the smell of Turkey roasting....so I just called the grocery store and they had a fresh turkey.  I'm going to get it cut in half and I'll freeze half and roast the other half tomorrow.  I can make stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries and all the foods I love.  It will be better than sitting alone at a table in a restaurant

Sounds like a good plan.  Why brave the weather too.

Feel better vibes for Jose and all in need. I'm still taking the antibiotic for the ear infection and am happy to report that it's working nicely. I can tell it's not gone, but I have no complaints.

Great news!

It's not in the scandalous category of some of the other books, I don't think.  And Sal was long due a bio.....the two stories I mentioned are spoken about by the two people to whom the book is dedicated and spent a lot of time with the author.

As I said above, nothing is written to be sensational but just as a matter of fact of Mr Mineo's life.

Also read the new Sal Mineo biography to read about his active love life including Mr Bobby Sherman and Mr Jay North.

Bobby Sherman!!!

 :o

My reaction too and weren't they both a bit young?

This will disappoint DW Wife Betsy, who had a major crush on Bobby and got to have lunch with him when he did a PR swing thru Chicago when she was a news anchor there.  I believe he was a paramedic by that time.  She has a lovely autographed pic of him.  Without Sal.  :)

Then don't tell her. ;D

Of course, now that my parents are back from the Ft. Lee PX and Commisary - with some meds for me - I'm actually feeling a whole lot better. I even think I may venture outside for a bit.

Funny I thought I hadn't posted the comments about their being too young-not sure what I did.  Of course they weren't too young, only the fact I still think of them as young made it seem that way.
