There's something going on at work, staffing-wise.  Three times this week, I've been asked to put in an extra couple of hours at the till.  Not that I mind the extra money, but it's tiring and I'm still a couple of days behind on the posts here... gee, you people have been chatty lately!

Re: last night's Doctor Who episode - BK's tap dance choreographer might want to check out the Cybermen in this story.  The synchronized stomping they performed was outright scary!  Definately a hide-behind-the-couch moment.  (The Cybermen are by far my more favorite heavies than the Daleks, whose dance movements are more swirley and glidey.  As with Astaire and Rogers, there is more to dance than just swooshing!)

The spreading of germs is why I had that flu shot a couple of days ago, a necessity with all the people-contact I do.  My arm is still a little sore, but at least the male nurse who administered the shot registered well on the Woofometer.   8)

Saturday...another work day for me.  It is a bwisk 36 degrees, but it promises to get up to 56 degrees this afternoon.

The rehearsals sound like a lot of fun and it makes me want to be IN a musical again.  But NOT Cinderella.

Saturday morning greetings!  A workday for me, too, DR JRand - my information-waitressing day for the week.  Let's hope the almost-full moon doesn't make things too weird for either of us.

TOD - My cheesy potatoes, which start with frozen hash browns.  You add cream cheese, cream of celery soup, a little onion and bake.  Top with shredded cheddar cheese right before serving.  Yum.

Salt-and-pepper potatoes. These are potatoes cut up into large chunks, skin on, then sautéed---probably in olive oil--- with some onions and red and green peppers as well as the aforementioned condiments. I don't know how they do it but the outside skin is crispy and the inside is tender. Dangerous stuff!

I have yet to make good french fries from scratch.  But I like them.

I'm pretty good with baked taters.

Pan-roasted taters with rosemary - yum!

Did you know that all those flavored tater chips, like BBQ and Cool Ranch and everything else, they all have MSG on them?  Plain chips don't, just the flavored ones.  Check out the ingredients listing, if you doubt this.

You'll notice that I discreetly left no reference to the "great balls of fire" - your's or anyone elses.  Somehow, I feel that those references will be well covered by DRs TCB, TomovOz, DerBrucer, and the always lovely elmore !

TOD:

Probably my favorite potato thing is a really well made potato latke.  It has to be patted down so it is not too thick in the middle, and is nice and crisp and golden on the outside.  I like BOTH a little sour cream and a little applesauce on mine, and some salt.

Two cd set of Alice and Emily?!?!?  I'll take it!  One for me, one for everyone of my friends, too!  Since the concert was a birthday present to me from EvilTwin Janet Fanale, it's only logical that I would share the pleasures with pals. . .and what a lovely Christmas present this will make!
I was thinking about those gals, and this particular concert only this morning since I have  A MIGHTY WIND in the dvd player. . .yes, the concert segments of AMW were shot at Town Hall.

Question for NYC-ers:  in doing my OCR catch-up yesterday, I listened to [title of show] (mini-review in yesterday's posts).  I'm just curious--was it simply a coinkydink, or was "Monkey on a Speedboat" from that show an allusion to "Monkey on a Pedestal" from Drowsy Chaperone?

Hi, DR TPunk - my conference Wednesday and Thursday was for managers and administrators, of which I am neither (I went for the fundraising sessions).  So the folks I saw out of context were my bosses.  Talk about interesting.

A late good morning to all.  I've been up since early this morning but this is my first time to catch up on today's eventa.  I met my dad and his lady friend at 8:30 for breakfast.  It took me 15 minutes to scrape the frost off the windows and warm up the car - I knew there was a reason I didn't miss owning a vehicle - and another 15 minutes to drive to the restaurant.  After that, I went to Woodside Cemetary and visited the graves of two friends.  I will spend the remainder of the day working on Christmas arrangements.

TOD:  scalloped potatoes, baked potatoes, and any number of others.  Last week my sister-in-law Jo Ann served baked sweet potatoes, which I had never before sampled.  Yum!

My TARZAN COLLECTION Vol. 2 came in the mail yesterday, so today I will be alternating Johnny Weismeuller with Fred & Ginger. I'm going to go in order with the TARZAN movies, but I'll skip around in the Astaire-Rogers box. Up next there is CAREFREE.

I'll also supplement with an occasional CSI: NY episode from disc 3 of the second season set.

There isn't any way to fix potatoes that I don't like.

I wish I had the recipe to the way the old Western Sizzlin' steakhouses used to do french fries. They were the best I have ever tasted, and I've never had them like that anywhere else.

Friend Jeff has bought his first HDTV, and we'll be installing it tomorrow. The condo he bought had one of those in-wall TV spaces over the fireplace, so the TV is going there, but before we get things set up, he's mounting some doors so he can close off the TV when not in use.

Looking forward to a fun afternoon setting up his HDTV, HDTV antenna (he doesn't have cable or satellite), DVD player, etc. He doesn't have a sound system to route these things through so that will make set-up much easier.
