I got a very nice e-mail from someone who saw my letter to the editor of FILMFARE magazine (Sort of like India's People magazine). He is evidently the other American reader of the magazine. LOL!

I was sorry to read that The Drowsy Chaperone will be closing 12/30.  Did Cindy Williams ever get to go into the show?

Cindy went into it a week ago.  Too bad for her - her B'way debut, two weeks.

I finally finished reworking the song that's been driving me crazy for five days.  It at least has a shape now, has a couple of funny lines and makes sense for the character singing it.  Now I'm listening to a wonderful singer named Pat Thomas, a CD called Moody's Mood, an import from Japan, with charts by Claus Ogerman and Lalo Schifrin.  Prior to that, I listened to Claus Ogerman's very short but potent 60s album entitled Latin Rock.

At least her Broadway debut wasn't in a show that opened and closed in two weeks. :)

I am watching MR BROOKS with Mr Kevin Costner.  It is okay.  It is set in Portland Oregon, but was filmed in Louisiana.....so I guess the beautiful home exterior/interiors were NOT filmed in Portland.
You mean that the beautiful homes of Portland DON'T have Spanish Moss having from every tree limb?

Der Brucer and I had dinner tonight at a new Chinese restaurant named the Shanghai Buffet and Grill.  The food was generally good, some dishes better than others (as can be expected at a buffet), with a wide variety to be sampled.  The seating area was spacious and pleasantly relaxing, and the service friendly and efficient.

And all for $9.99 each.  (Tell the truth, der B got a discount for being a senior citizen.)

We both feel stuffed now.   :D

Thank you DR’s  DRLaura, FJL, Ginny, Tomovoz, Jeanne, Singdaw, George, JRand, td, and elmore.  I apologize if I missed anyone.

Hopefully this is the first of many interviews.  I haven’t mentioned the rejections he has received.

We are expecting snow tonight.  I hope I don't have to cancel my early morning check-up tomorrow.  I'm sure the roads in town will be fine, it is just ours that can be a problem.

Vibes to myself the snow stops above our house. ;D

I don't have a clew as to what to watch this evening.

I got discs 4, 5, & 6 of BROTHERS & SISTERS Season 1 so I'm having a good time tonight!  I wish the gay brother would stop whining over the closeted actor's behavior, that's all he does in the birthday episode.

I'm off.  I'm going to help a friend with her Christmas tree...she can't get it to stay upright.  After that, we'll have dinner, then I'm going to Borders with my 40% off Borders Rewards coupon! :D

I wonder if they'll actually have anything that I want. :-\

Your friend Minette Walters would have a rotting corpse floating on the pond.

der Brucer

Yes, this photo--both photos, actually--are very reminiscent of Minette Walters, aren't they?

A question for ASK BK day:

When you are looking at a DVD to rent or buy, or a movie to watch....what is the ONE actor/actress' name that makes you reject even the idea of seeing said DVD?

I guess we know what the answer would be if this were ASK JRAND Day.  ;)

I could not tolerate Prilosec.  I have been taking Protonix several years now.  Remember I could not tolerate the anti-inflammatory meds?  Be careful.  I was never given such detailed directions on the Protonix, interesting.

Jeanne is an expert on enzymes, I take one (an expensive prescription) whenever I eat.  It really helps.

I'm no expert, just a big believer! Enzymes really help me, too.

You should watch a little 1930S radio station murder mystery I like to call DANGER ON THE AIR.

(Or if you already have, I would love to know what you thought of it!)

Der Brucer's daughter has requested that we bring the egg nog for Christmas dinner.  She even had a specific recipe she wants us to use, such as it is.

Quote
Scotch Mary's Egg Nog

1 dozen large fresh eggs
2 cups sugar
1 quart whipping cream
1 quart French brandy
1/2 pint rum

Beat sugar into beaten eggs.
Add brandy and rum a little at a time while beating eggs.
Beat whipping cream but not too much.
Watch out, this is potent.

According to der B, this is a family recipe, from his late wife's side of the clan.  And there are omissions.

First, the idea is to blend the sugar and eggs, and then add the liquor.  Then, it is supposed to be set aside for a few days (at least) so that it can all "mellow".

Second, the whipping cream is supposed to be added to the mix just prior to serving.

Please note: this is using raw eggs - those with compromised immune systems should be cautious.

Still, it's nice for Magic Mommy to ask us to bring something different to the dinner.  It was also nice for her to ask me to come to my face.  Previously, she's always shied away from talking to me directly.
