Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of days and nights, and now it is time for you to post until the day and night cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: EMBLAZON!
-
Perhaps George skipped over my post about where he got those cheap prop laptops - need one and some fake cell phones, too.

Perhaps George skipped over my post about where he got those cheap prop laptops - need one and some fake cell phones, too.
Nope, I was trying to find it and I finally did! WHEW!! It was actually Michael who posted the link and here it is:
https://dinorentosstudios.com/3d-cardboard-fake-faux-dummy-laptop-prop/ (https://dinorentosstudios.com/3d-cardboard-fake-faux-dummy-laptop-prop/)
-
And for the phones, I just bought random phone covers at The Dollar Tree (where everything's a dollar!), then I did a screen capture of my very own phone and printed those out, then taped those onto cardboard cut to fit the phone cases, and attached everything together with tape and hot glue as necessary. Instant fake phones! :D
-
I couldn't find any fake cell phone at that website, so I made them myself. I think my idea was pretty inventive.
-
I didn't think about this...here is an Amazon listing for 10 Pack of Fake Cell Phone - Toy Phones & Tablet for Kids (https://www.amazon.com/Pack-Fake-Phone-Phones-Tablet/dp/B075PW23DV). There are many different options to choose from!
-
Now it's time for me to go to sleep.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
The cats seem to be fine this morning. Thatch's nose is cold and he's bouncing around, and Annabelle has dropped her neediness and gone back to lounging in her Fancy Feast carton.
-
I will help Joshie today with I Married an Angel. When I get home, I'll get back to How to Succeed . . .
-
DR vixmom, ro what city did you fly for this Big Adventure?
-
Last night we finished up 26 hours of The Pallisers. I think tonight we might watch the first talkie version of The Front Page.
-
DR JohnG, I thought the last episode rushed to finish things up, much like frenzied finish to the Kiera Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice. I think another 30 minutes would have clarified a few things for me: the reasons for Silverbridge's return to the Liberal party and Plantagenet's final acceptance of his children's marriage choices.
Still, what a great series, as good as the 15 hours of the BBC War and Peace.
-
Good news from DR JANE yesterday!
And so glad DR VIXMOM's trip ended much better than it began.
-
MR BK's rehearsal seem to be moving right along....I hope the voice of the leading man has come back.
-
This morning I have a port flush and then my sister Paula and I are going to the Mooresville Goodwill store....which should be fun.
I had the HEAT on last night for the first time this year....everything seems to be working properly.
-
Good morning.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I am back from the medical center where I took Kristi for her endoscopy. It was a one-year follow up after her surgeries last year, and everything looked fine.
-
Me, I’m still in recovery — from all of vixmom’s food posts.
-
Damn it to HELL, that woman knows how to eat.
-

Great news.
You didn't mention if you needed the video links I posted on how to check for dehydration. Experience taught us to be a bit obsessive checking our cats when we suspected they didn't feel good.
-
Very glad to hear the cats were back to normal this morning.
That’s usually the way. But man, do we go through HELL when they aren’t normal.
-

Thank you and DITTO on Vixmom.

LASER EYE SURGERY VIBES FOR TCB!

But man, do we go through HELL when they aren’t normal.
That's for sure.
-
Friday morning greetings! Fall weather arrived yesterday and this morning it's c-c-cold in our house. We may have to break down and turn the heat on tonight. I just put away my summery short sleeved shirts and got out the long sleeves and turtlenecks. Love it!
-
LASER EYE SURGERY VIBES FOR TCB!
Ditto!
-
Glad to hear that Kristi and DR Jane both got good medical reports.
-
DR Vixmom, I'm glad you survived your whirlwind trip to St. Louis. Did you wave when you flew over Ohio?
-
Belated Happy Anniversary to DR FJL and Skip!
-
Richard and I went to the Butler County Board of Elections yesterday for our early voting date, then out to lunch at the Athenian Greek American Grill in Sharonville (northern Cincinnati 'burb). We even had Graeter's ice cream on the way home.
-
Belated Happy Anniversary to DR FJL and Skip!
Thanks so much, Ginny!

I’m playing in HELLO, DOLLY! at a college in February. It’ll be full orchestra, piano/celeste for me, and my friend the MD would like it if I can cover the harp. We don’t see a harp book (or reference to keyboard coverage) on the Tams site and we won’t have materials for a while yet, so I’m wondering two things:
Could that just be an omission in their listing? And is the rental orchestration more or less the original 1960s one? (I know they send the transpositions, too, so obviously those are altered.)
http://www.tamswitmark.com/shows/hello-dolly/
I haven’t listened to it in a while, and I don’t remember how original or how changed the orchestration was in the Channing revival that BK recorded.
-
Don’t know the Athenian, but I approve of the Graeter’s ice cream, DR Ginny.

I looked at the links and did nothing beyond that. Thatch and I deal with each other in nontraditional ways.

I believe you can hear a harp on the OBC, and there may be cues in the original published vocal score, but there is no harp in the rental package to my knowledge. That orchestration is based on the original but I believe it's been tampered with for both the tours and to cover missing instruments.

This made me laugh today. It's so Annabelle.

I highly suggest you practice this while they are healthy to get a feel for doing it. It is much easier to know when a dog isn't getting enough fluids than a cat. Catch a serious problem in time and save a trip to the vet :)

I'm up, I'm up - very rough night, don't know why but I guess the chicken salad or bagel didn't agree with the Ny-Quil or something but just kept waking up feeling yucky. I think I slept seven or eight hours though.

This morning I have a port flush and then my sister Paula and I are going to the Mooresville Goodwill store....which should be fun.
I had the HEAT on last night for the first time this year....everything seems to be working properly.
This morning, I was in my second floor extra room and noticed that that heater was on. It's the first time that I noticed that any heater had come on. I have it set to come on at 55°. I also realized that my bottom floor heater has not yet come on at all! What's up with that? I checked that one and I had actually turned it all the way off! No wonder it's been so cold up in my third floor bedroom! I set that thermostat to 60° and will see how it all is. It's really not worth it to turn the heat up much more because it ALL just goes right up the stairs and out my skylight. I just want enough heat so that my pipes don't freeze (or my neighbors' again). :P

Well, it's been OFFICIALLY announced, so I can now announce that I have been cast as Santa (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwGYfMVKQtQ) in Broadway Olympia Productions (https://www.broadwayolympia.com/)' upcoming production of the musical version of A Christmas Story! :D I'll also be in the Ensemble.

You may now go back to your regular lives.

Yes, there are cues in "Ribbons", "Sunday Clothes", and a few other songs. Tonight I'll take out the recordings and see what's what.
From your standpoint, would it be silly, or just plain wrong, to take down any of it using the vocal score and the OBC, to sweeten the pot a little? We don't have to do it at all.
-
In other HELLO, DOLLY! news, I just found out I'm subbing for the MD at the read-through/sing-through. He can't make the first rehearsal! :)
That's not till first week of December.

Dolly! Harp Vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
-
While at the Goodwill this morning looking for a fall type jacket....with a lining....which I found for $5.99 - I also stopped to look at the books and records and cd recordings.
And there among the country music and religious solo albums and boy bands were 12 - TWELVE - different cd recordings from Dino....the famous DINO at the piano of HHW.
I studied them all - and I decided I would buy ONE....so I chose Unforgettable Dino - the Pop Sessions which includes a medley of Unchained Melody/Everything I Do/Unforgettable, Wind Beneath My Wings, and several other ditties....ten in all.
It is most entertaining....next time I am there I will see what else is left.....
I also bought Bryn Terfel sings Rodgers & Hammerstein....which I have not listened to yet.
Oh and Dino's last name is Kartsonakis.....and he plays Baldwin pianos exclusively....
-
My nephew married a woman 19 years his senior.....she has had him cut off communication with his family completely - it's a bad situation that needs not to be discussed in detail.....life goes on for my sister, her husband and his two sisters.
The wife who has several serious illnesses that no doctor can name or treat her for is crazy - for want of a better word - and of course he is complicit as well or he would say - they ARE my family....
ANYWAY she has been bragging on her Facebook page, which I look at occasionally, about the great job that he got and how much he loves it, etc. I looked at the picture that she posted of one event he worked on.
I said to my sister - that looks like the place where Roe (our cousin's son) works.....so I happened to message him.....and asked does NAME work for you - he's my nephew.
ROE said....NO way!!! I just hired him a couple of months ago, he's great.
I said tell him hi!
HA HA! His wife's head will explode when she finds out he's working with ONE OF US.....
Small world.

DR George, good news about the show! Congratulations.
Did our DR TCB ever hear anything about his audition?

Frozen pipes is not a good thing. Do you know about leaving a little dripping water if it get very cold?

I think piano-celesta is more important. Is there a bona fide piano-celesta part instead of playing from the vocal score?

DR Jrand I feel very bad for your family, especially your sister, her husband and his two sisters. It is funny though that he is working for family without his wife knowing. Thank goodness the response to your nephew is the he is great.

83 years ago today Cole Porter's musical with Moss Hart, Jubilee, opened on Broadway. It was a hit until Mary Boland's drinking problems caused her to leave the show and it folded shortly after Laura Hope Crews replaced her.
The show was performed twice during the 1940s at the St Louis Muny before the materials were lost in shipment from St Louis to Manhattan and it became a lost musical. In 1985 I was hired to reconstruct and orchestrate the show from the rehearsal manuscripts in the Cole Porter Trust. Here's the overture from my reconstruction:

DR JANE he is so out of touch - he didn't know he was related to his boss! LOL....I am sure he will tell HER all about it.....I would like to be a fly on the wall.....
My prediction - he won't keep the job and will be gone by the first of the year. She won't be able to stand it.

YES Congrats to DR GEORGE on his role
in A CHRISTMAS STORY.
Don't shoot your eye out.

Ed Mitchell was the editor of the New York Sun, but I move about, freely, in time from current day and then back to the end of the nineteenth century, both as Mr. Mitchell. I must be terribly old!

Thanks, Jennifer.

The information they gave me about the laser treatment, mentioned that I would have mild blurry vision for up to 12 hours. No, I had major blurry vision. They probably should have told me to bring someone with me to drive me home. I should not have been driving. The only way I knew I didn't run over anyone on the way home is that I turned down the radio and listened for a thump thump

Had a good meeting and walk-through of the theater with our sound designer - he seems very on top of how we can make this work.
-
Went to Gelson's and got a few things, including some mac-and-cheese. Came home and had that and a bagel. I needed a break from the matzoh ball soup.
-
Otherwise I'm just listening to music - currently playing more music from Joly Braga Santos - he's like the two faces of Eve - his first period is great, up through the 1950s - tonal, beautiful, and just wonderful music - haven't heard a bum piece yet. Then sometime in the 60s he has a complete change of style and becomes strident and atonal with nary a trace of his other face. I find the latter interesting on certain levels, but obviously I prefer his earlier stuff, which is stunning.

Two DRs in Christmas shows! Great news.

Congrats to Santa George!

Congrats to TCB! Was this the original track of the role, or did they combine things once they knew they had you?

And speaking of Virginal and Santa...did anyone see or remember this segment from Antiques Roadshow? It's a 2012 rebroadcast and reappraising of the original 1997 segment with the great-grandson of the actual Virginia! At the time, he had the actual letter that was sent to the newspaper. Here's the segment:

Haven’t listened to the DOLLYs yet.

The pot pie was delicious. Just exactly what I wanted.

The only way I knew I didn't run over anyone on the way home is that I turned down the radio and listened for a thump thump
Yikes! :o
~~~No More Blurryness for TCB!!~~~
I am not feeling the page four vibe.
-
I am feeling very ambivalent about page four.
I am listening to the music of Arnold Bax conducted by the other AB - Adrian Boult on Lyrita, perhaps the greatest label from Britain ever in terms of quality of performance and sound. I had all the Bax music in the 80s and 90s on Chandos and I never really warmed to it. But now warming has taken place thanks to Mr. Boult and the Lyrita sound. It's like hearing completely different music, frankly.
I may have been cleared for PT but the first available appointment isn't until the 23rd. I guess it will give my bones more healing time.
The songwriter Carol Hall has passed away at eighty-two. Had no idea she was that old. I really enjoyed working with her when I recorded the Ann-Margret Best Little Whorehouse - we had the best time. I met her first in New York to discuss the recording, and also recorded her Jenny Rebecca song on some album. At some point I wanted to do a Carol Hall album, which we were talking about when the bad people caused the label I created to go to hell.
Good news, DR TCB! And here you were worried, silly boy!
PAGE FIVE TIME-TO-GO-HOME DANCE!!
You need to pack something to eat during the day.
Congrats to TCB! Was this the original track of the role, or did they combine things once they knew they had you?
Thank you, Fred. The play is written with Ed Mitchell retelling the story of Virginia writing the letter to the newspaper and Frank Church, the reporter, writing the editorial response. I break the fourth wall from the very beginning of the play.
-
Well, it's been OFFICIALLY announced, so I can now announce that I have been cast as Ed Mitchell in Lakewood Playhouse Theater's (https://www.lakewoodplayhouse.org/) upcoming production of YES VIRGINIA, THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS! :D I also narrate the show.
Congrats, Tom!! :D
Thanks, George; and congratulations to you, as well.
OMG! Is the blurry vision improving?
The Blu-ray blury vision is pretty much gone.
-
The play is written by the same man who wrote the TV movie that starred Charles Bronson and Ed Asner. The play takes liberties with the actual story.
-
I am Ed Asner.
One more post.
This just scared the crap out of me. How could they not tell you to have someone drive you home?!? Glad you made it safely. And congrats on the part!
Looking at the cast list, I don’t know a single person in the cast, except the director, Aaron, who is also plying a couple of small parts in the show. Aaron was in SECOND SAMUEL with me.
I know a few people in my cast, but not many.
N the day after Thanksgiving, November 23; but the Lakewood website says that we open on November 24, which is Saturday.
-
I told the Artitic Director, but he didn’t seem to think it was any big whoop. Considering how many tickets they have sold for the 23rd, I would say it was a pretty big deal.
