Well, you've read the notes, the notes rhymed with oats, and not it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're doing something with oats that even I don't want to know about.
-
And the word of the day is: ORISON!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
My wife and I are going to see JERSEY BOYS tonight at the Bass Auditorium.
-
Nymph, in thy orisons, be all my sins remembered.
-
Good morning, all! I have put off laundry as long as possible, so thins morning I have to do it. I've got other things to do as well, some writing on Victor Herbert, a bit of choral writing, and cleaning the apartment. This afternoon I may go out with my beloved goddaughter Charlotte; I want to hear all about her summer at Shakespeare and Co.
-
Wednesday morning greetings! I feel much better this morning, allergy-wise, and will soon begin gearing up for my first cardiac rehab session.
-
Nymph, in thy orisons, be all my sins remembered.
Ditto!
-
And the word of the day is: ORISON!
I wonder if DR JRand ever figured out what Orison Bean was singing in that song in ILLYA, DARLING?
-
Last night I rushed home (as much as one can rush when someone else is driving the train), rushed though dinner, then ripped open the LOST Season 6 package, found the disc containing the bonuses, tossed it into the DVD player and sat back in anticipation of the series epilogue, "The New Man In Charge".
... :-\
...feh...
-
Good morning.
-
Good morn to you, DR Laura!
-
Hi, Dan.
-
And the word of the day is: ORISON!
"Mork calling Orison... come in Orison"
-
Vote for song of the day: "Sabbath Prayer"
-
Question: does one feel one's oats before or after sowing them?
-
DR DtM - I think someone told me what the line was....but I forget again.
-
I am working on the Never Too Late lobby display - and have about 5 pages of lines left to learn....almost there!
-
My question for ASK BK Day.....what do you think was the most successful exploitation film advertising campaign in the 1950's?
-
DR MBARNUM sent me a nifty package of entertainment yesterday - so last night I enjoyed watching Miss Mamie Van Doren in two of her finest films - UNTAMED YOUTH and COLLEGE CONFIDENTIAL.....CC of course also features Miss Jayne Meadows and two of my favorite folk singers Mr Randy Sparks and Ms Judy Henske.....Mr Sparks looking better in bathing attire than does Ms Henske.
Conway Twitty also "acts" in this movie....making Mamie look like Meryl Streep by comparison.
I also received CRASH LANDING featuring Ms Nancy Davis and Mr Gary Merrill and Mr Roger Smith....from the same people who brought you THE GIANT CLAW.....most entertaining!
Thank you DR MBARNUM for the movies and the card!
-
And the word of the day is: ORISON!
And The Song Of The Day Is: I SAY A LITTLE PRAYER
-
Let's Hear It For That Great Actor and Director
ORISON WELLES
(a little louder next time)
-
Wow JRand, you watched all three of those films in one day...your mind must have turned to mush.
Note: the two flight attendants in CRASH LANDING are both recent interviewees of mine...their stories will appear in CLASSIC IMAGES in the near future.
-
Ok, time to catch people up on the last two days.
Monday and Tuesday were both teacher in-services at school. I wasn't too excited to go back, but somehow, now I am. I guess that's good.
Monday night, I say a Rufus Wainwright concert at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. The last time I was there I saw Linda Eder and Burt Bacharach. They remodeled the amphitheater and it's gorgeous up there now. The concert was amazing. First of all, Rufus' sister, Martha, opened for him and she's a great talent. Very witty, very talented. Then Rufus came out and did his latest CD - just him and the piano and some projections. He performed it as a song cycle and asked that no one applaud until he left the stage. I believe the CD is a tribute to his mom who passed away in January. From our seats, we could see him at the keyboard, and he was just amazing. His fingers moved effortlessly over the keyboard, I really can't describe his talent. The second half was just him and a piano again and he played a lot of his songs from his other CD's. It was just an amazing night. Maybe the best concert I have ever been to.
And that brings us up to date.
Tonight is a Sunset Blvd production meeting and I'm really anxious to see what the set designer has planned. Saturday is auditions, which I'm looking forward to. I'm so excited about this show, but that's old news.
-
I've had one call & one email checking on us. It seems our local fire has made the news big time. I'm glad to report it has been contained.
-

Nice. All of the men kept commenting how stacked the one girl was.....but I guess nobody told the casting director and costumer she was supposed to be.

"I Say A Little Orison" (for you)
-
It was so "warm" last night that I could not get comfortable in my bed.
I made a pallet on the living room floor...and turned on the AC (window unit). There I slept for about four hours. I got up and checked my room at about 2:30 a.m. and found it was cool. I returned to my bed and slept until the alarm went off.
Major cool should return this evening.
But yesterday was a SCORCHER.
-
I did something to my lower back yesterday and was in a fair amount of pain all night (a waterbed is terrible for a sore back).
I wish I knew what i did (it wasn't lifting anything). And it's my left lower back (it's usually my right lower back that hurts). So i'm hobbling around today. Surprisingly it feels pretty good to bike (you'd think it would be very painful). So i will try that later.
I tried a heating pad but that didn't help. I wonder if hooping would absolutely kill.
-
So You Think You Can Dance Canada started this week. And Mary Murphy was a judge. I was so happy to see her (she judged a bit last year and was at some of the auditions this year). I really hope that she will be on every week. Or at least a lot. I missed her so much on the US version.
-
We need to be on page 2!
-
DR Jane while I"m waiting for the newest D.D Warren book (lisa gardner series), I started reading her FBI Profiler series. I'd read that the first book (The Perfect Husband) was just so-so. But that it introduced the FBI profiler from the series.
So I read it. And I'd agree it was okay but definitely the weakest book i've read of hers (it is really old). But I think it's important to read the book to meet the profiler. Well now i've read the second book in the series "The Third victim" and it was a lot better. I'm glad that i have the 3rd book ( The Next Accident).
I'm going to go to the library tomorrow to pick up a movie. And right now books 4 and 5 are in. So I will see if they are still there and get them.
Btw, my library is going completely online starting middle of september. So i will be able to reserve, and renew books online (not that i renew books very often). But i will be so happy to be able to reserve and suggest books on the computer!
-
BTW, DR Jane did you ever start ALONE?
-
:o That's a bit of a personal question, I would think!
-

Ugh, I'm in full empathy with you: lower back pain is the pits. People basically see doctors for two reasons: colds and back pain, and doctors are equally effective at treating both... :(
My experience has been that it'll go away when it's good and ready. There are some painkillers that work (Skelaxin helped once for me), but by and large it just sucks. Hope you feel better soon!
-
Laundry is finished, Charlotte and I have a movie date tomorrow at 1 pm, the apartment is tidied and vacuumed, I may have the final two chorus ladies, I've spoken to Rebecca Luker, and I need to schedule an audition date for Anthony Morelli to come and audition for our musical director, hopefully on Monday.
-
My question for ASK BK Day.....what do you think was the most successful exploitation film advertising campaign in the 1950's?
Hercules - HAD to see it!
-
I'm up - had another good sleep but am quite groggy right now. And I think it's already 100 degrees out.
-
Off to
school cardiac rehab - bye for now!
-
I have been dealing with persistent lower back pain since my bout with kidney stones last year.
-
Anthony's audition is set for Monday at 3:00. I hope it goes well.
-
I see the ever-lurking DotM who lurks much and does nothing else but irritate is back.
-
I've had to deal with lower back pain a lot. But if I try not to lift heavy things it is usually quite manageable. Lately it has barely been hurting at all. But yesterday ouch.
-
And we are still on page 2. We are SO in for it when bk checks in again.
-
My lower back pain comes and goes. But I think I've learned to prevent it from happening. Like making sure I sit on a stool or a bench high enough when I play piano, (I've learned to take my own rock n' sock chair with me to gigs) I don't sit on the floor much, and always try and sit with my back supported. But like most back issues, they come and go at will.
-
Are we there yet?
-
Sunset Blvd auditions on Saturday. I'm beyond excited.
-
I could go into why I'm obsessed with this show. But that could take up a lot of space. Maybe I'll just write a book
-
Almost there, I might as well attempt to get us there.
-

I never saw it.
I remember that, in Seattle, THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS had a pretty big push.

So, I hired a book publicist today. He's going to do a 3-month campaign.

A dealer dropped by to pick up some CDs (this guy doesn't take much and brings me all the other recent releases from other labels), then I did a few things, then had some matzo brei. I may jog in about thirty minutes although I think its about 105 degrees out.

DR Ben, you may see on your cell that I tried to call you. When your voicemail picked up and I realized I had not called your home phone, I hung up.

I survived my first rehab session without having a heart attack or breaking my neck on the treadmill. It went quite well and I was glad that I'd been steadily increasing my walking time here at home. Afterwards, we went to Target, where I bought myself a new iPod to use for entertainment (music, video) and a watch with a timer. I will now use my older iPod for audiobooks so I don't have to pay attention to Fox News, which is on the TV monitors at the rehab gym :P

Good for you.
After I had my scare back in January, I did a stress test on a treadmill and I thought I was really going to have a heart attack.
-
Happy rehabing, DR Ginny!

I'm off to dinner, and then JERSEY BOYS.
Later...

LOL, DR JMK! Here's what my cousin Dan said on Facebook:
"Fox News is part of the therapy. They put it on to add stress, to boost your blood pressure, and to encourage you not to think critically as you walk for miles and miles going nowhere on a treadmill."
He may be onto something...

Thanks to DRs MBarnum and Druxy. Enjoy Jersey Boys, DR Druxy - we loved it in Chicago!

When I managed a temp service and we'd give the secretaries their typing tests, I'd always try to get them to relax with a little joke: "I'm going to rout around in your purse while you type to see how well you work under stress." :)

DotM is lurking again and comprehends not why I am harassing it. My feeling is simply this: whatever sex DotM may be, it is neither an asset to the membership and appears to be, like a vulture, lurking for something to peck at. Since its only post is from Nov 10, 2007, and a rather harsh reaction to the removal of three earlier posts, I see no reason to be welcoming or generous to this liability.
-
I was pleasantly surprised to open the paper & find in the headlines a story about our vet who has offered to help pets in need due to the fire.

Great news Ginny!
Laura I hope nothing is wrong with your eyes and the sensitivity was caused by those horrible drops.
-
BTW, DR Jane did you ever start ALONE?
Nope. I renewed it yesterday. I still have two books ahead of it. I had better come up with a pick for my book club soon. I just began a new book I have high hopes for, THE HOUSE AT RIVERTON.
-
I see the ever-lurking DotM who lurks much and does nothing else but irritate is back.
It is possible DotM thrives on our reactions. Your comments may be fueling the fascination with this site.

Bruce what is the name of the Mexican restaurant you like?
I'm using keith's phone to post.
We were sitting, with Sherlock, on the patio of a Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville discussing restaurants in the valley. Our friend visiting lives in Woodland Hills & wanted the name of the restaurant you rave about.
-
Thanks, DR Jane - how's Sherlock today?
-
Did the site just go down for a minute or so?
-
Good evening all. Day 3 done and Day 4 to come tomorrow. Long week, I can tell you that.

I think it's likely the trial will end tomorrow
-
I am brain dead at the moment. Perhaps that's why I watching Big Brother

Great News Ginny...happy rehabbing!
-
Hi everyone-
Sorry to hear about the heat wave in California. We've had a respite here in the DC area. It's only 77 degrees now!
-
It's 77 here too
-
Great News Ginny...happy rehabbing!
Thanks, DR Cillaliz! I'm feeling the workout in my legs and arms.
-
As I've already stated, there is no question who DotM is. She has made only one post under that name, and several under other names, two of which you know, and one of which was the main moniker. We'll see how this plays out.
-
I had a wonderful time viewing with David Wechter and his friend Briana - the latter is a well-respected film editor (she's done a LOT of well-known TV and is currently editing some hit Lifetime series). What this will all probably lead to is Kritzerland's first foray into Blu and Ray.
-
After the viewing we went to nearby Marie Callendar's and we each had pie - me having the coconut cream - thankfully a fairly small slice. Since I'd only had the matzo brei and toast earlier, I think it's all fine, and I will jog shortly, despite the 105 degree heat.
-
Thanks, Jane. It was the drops. I didn't react too badly, but everything was a little too bright for a while.
-
Happily I left the air on and the home environment is nice and cool.
-
Now, someone better get me off this damn page, and we'd better get us a frenzy or three going, or I will have to ask the "where's Jane" question - even though I know she has company :)
-
I am right now watching the finale episode of LOST. What a great episode. One of the best of the series. It even had me crying. There is 20 minutes left. I am so glad that I heard or read nothing about the final episodes.
-
I have muscle relaxers. Only thing is I don't do well with medication. So tonight I took a little more than 1/3 of a pill. I hope that it will make the tension in my back go away so i can sleep. But i suspect i will be groggy all day tomorrow. Fingers crossed it won't be that bad. But often even if i take half a pill my body ends up feeling slightly numb and i'm out of it.

I am slowly waking up...whew! Still lots of work to do tonight. Tomorrow is the big day. It will most likely determine the outcome of the trial. Vibes would really be appreciated
-
I gotta tell you.
-
Back from a mile and a half jog - it's stultifying out there.
-
I don't think I'll eat dinner, given the pie I had.
-
Really, will this day end on page four?
-
Oh I doubt it
-
We aren't that far from page 5
-
I have a lot of work to do tonight... I just need to wake up and do it

there's a breeze

Ok, we're almost there

Here, you're off page 4

Someone else's turn to take over....
-
Fall? You wouldn't know it here - 105 degrees.

It's 64 degrees right now

MPI is re-releasing the Rathbone/Bruce Sherlock Holmes. The PR blast looks like it's been restored yet again, from 35mm source elements, but I could have sworn they did that the last time it was released. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

Well, here's something interesting...Former Republican chairman says he's gay (http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-politics/20100826/US.Mehlman.Gay/). What's interesting is that he's not outed because of a scandal. AND he's never been married, so no spouse or kids to traumatize.
Good for him!

I now have a red iPod for the audiobooks that I download from my former employer and a brand new blue 16G iPod for my music. A funny thing happened on the way to syncing my iTunes library onto the new iPod. For some albums, it broke them down into multiple tracks. For example, the OBC Chicago has a Joel Grey track, a Bebe Neuwerth menu, an Ann Reinking menu - you get the idea. Anybody know how to fix this?

I would break the iPod!

Life is too short.

But I just bought it, DR Elmore!
What movie are you and Charlotte seeing tomorrow? Please tell her HI and GO, BLUE!

Well, it's time for me to head home.
Be back later.

A tropical storm named Earl....really? I don't know why that makes me laugh

Today was fall, but it's not going to last...back to summer. It's sure great to have the windows open now

Except that he's denied it for years, though former boyfriends or men with whom he has had sex have come forward to dispute his former claims that he was straight.

Rehab vibes for DR Ginny!
-
Watching "The Last Days of Disco" tonight. Hadn't seen it since it played the theaters. What a wonderful, funny and sad movie it is. Rumor has it that Whit Stillman is making another movie. Hope it is anywhere near as good as this or "Metropolitan."
-
My sister is going to be at the lake over the weekend. I was going to go up for a fundraiser my friend Gretchen has been working on, but have decided not to go. The last family gathering was the 4th and didn't go so well (That's putting it mildly) I don't think I'm up for trying it again.
-
Thanks, DR John G!
I need to take my late night meds and get to bed. Fasting bloodwork tomorrow morning, followed by going out to breakfast with Richard & Rob.
'night!
-
Friday night some friends are showing a movie in their back yard, and projecting it on their house. They've done it a few times this summer but I've never been able to attend. Friday night is "Being There" should be fun.
-
Ok let's get to page 6 and then I'll get to work
-
Saturday Night I'm going to an opening at the Art center
-
It will be nice to get out and see friends. Haven't done that in weeks
-
Ok, back to work
-
Good night, Ginny.
-
CillaLiz, don't do the stressful thing. If your family can't behave, then do yourself a favor and do what's best for you. Maybe she'll get the message.

Page Six! Last Days of Disco dance
-
Disco's had its last days? has anyone told Lady Gaga?
-
I've been listening to the disco station (STROBE, I believe it's called) on XM in the car. Some fantastic string arrangements on those old tunes, I must say.
-
OK, so I post an ad on CL to clear out some of these old DVDs and BDs and clearly state $5/disc and also include how many discs in multi-disc sets there are. And of course I have been dealing with an idiot all day (partly just out of fun, I must say) who literally can't figure out how to times the number of discs by 5 to arrive at a total. I finally just sent him a timestable at which point he asked me to just tell him the totals. No, I will *not* do your homework for you. ;) :)
-
And as incredible as it may seem to me, I register my little "baby Gaby" for high school tomorrow. The handout recommended parents should simply bring their checkbooks with, LOL. Lists and lists of fees and the like. Including now, of all things, software licenses for certain classes!
-
Ooooh, feels so good department: Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer just flat out smacked down (figuratively speaking) Laura Ingraham on the O'Reilly Factor tonight. So very, very wonderful. :)

Depends on how you look at it. . .Charles Widmore is alive, isn't he? Claire's mother? Juliet's sister? Walt? Ms. Hawkins? The two (or three) Mrs. Shepherds? Ben? Hurley? I could go on. . . .BUT, Mr. Shayne has not posted about the final twenty minutes. . .

So, basically these are the same features as on the bonus dvd offered at Best Buy with the Blu-Ray. . .except for the podcasts.

RE: LOST
I am right now watching the finale episode of LOST. What a great episode. One of the best of the series. It even had me crying. There is 20 minutes left. I am so glad that I heard or read nothing about the final episodes.

Well, disc-wise, yeah. But there's the supercool Temple box with all the hoo-hahs inside.

Back from seeing JERSEY BOYS.
Excellent production. One of the guys (Nick) was in the original Broadway cast.

There is a flash flood watch, not too far from here, but I do not see any clouds ???

It's really nice and cool outside, too cool to open the windows. 8)

Be careful with the jogging in this heat.

Cool? Where? It's about ninety at eleven at night here in the City of Studio. I'm back from some chicken tenders at Jerry's - I jogged over there and then briskly walked back, so I think my jog total was two miles today.

The musical director for our first Gardenia show called (he's out of town) to tell me I had misunderstood and that he won't be back until Monday evening. Well, no, I did not misunderstand - he told me he'd be available to rehearse on Monday and that is what I told everyone - in fact, we discussed it with at least one singer while rehearsing last week. So, he's Xeroxing charts on Friday and Fed Exing them to me for Saturday delivery. Richard Berent, the MD of the Brain, will fill in for Monday, so at least the two singers who actually haven't run any of their material, will get to. Then Tuesday we'll rehearse the whole thing, and people can come early or stay later to work as much as they want to be comfortable.

The last 20 minutes are among the most moving segments of any TV series EVER!!!! Jack's walk through the bamboo forest is AWESOME!
