Just got home a littlw while ago from a trip to my parents' house for Easter dinner.  It was nice to see the family.  Glad I didn't go up for the weekend. Everyone got along great. Had a nice time and we all left.   Nice.

this morning we went to a very uplifting Easter service - I was one of the communion assistants -

as Pastor said - we pulled out all the stops the string choir played a preamble followed by the bell choir - we (Pastor, the assisting minister and the four of communion assistants) processed into the church  behind the acolyte holding high the cross , two of us holding  candles on torches, the assisting minister holding the big Altar Bible opened to the Resurrection Gospel, one of the communion assistants holding the opened Lectionary, one of the communion assistants holding the Pascal candle and finally Pastor while the full adult choir  all 53 of them  and the congregation sang   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzy7jFNUc3w&feature=related

No, I really do wonder who our 1 Guest might be?

It might have been me -- DR Sandra was using my computer to play Scrabble, and I used hers to catch up with posts.

Re: The Fantasticks

Was the tv version from the 60's a full version of the show? I've never see it, but I know it was done.

Mike Barnum saw Painting The Clouds With Sunshine  yesterday on TCM. I can't believe I've never even heard of this film. Perhaps I should try catching it if TCM shows it again.

Mike rated it a double swoon for its actors.

But is the film any good?

Well, you see, Elmore, we seem to believe that to practice indicates that we would be putting on a show. Therefore, we don't practice. But everyone loves it because we are sincere and it is charming because of its lack of perfection.

I haven't talked to any friends about going, but I'm seriously thinking about trying to get a ticket to Elton John.  He had a weather cancellation and wanted more than one date in the midwest when he comes back to do the make up so he added Sioux City.  They made the decision last Tuesday and will be here on May 3.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning and are expected to sell out in a matter of minutes.   Just can't decide if it's worth the money to me...

I will say that the organist practices -- and she is an excellent sight-reader.

Tried a little experiement

Went to page 54 of the postings and read the last set of postings

The date was May 16, 2008

BK was proofing his new novel

The usual band of suspects that are here now were posting with three exceptions

1) Singdaw
2) TomofOz
3) Matt Hough

Surprisingly I did not post that day. I wonder why.

Also notable people who posted on that day have been absent from these parts recently (Although I have to admit there are days that I do not read every single posting)

Dear Reader Laura
Edisaurus (Amy)

All in all I think it proves that we have a close tight community here. And over the years people come and people go and the people who go I think they are for unfortunate reasons and hope one day they will return

It was 1964 and it was heavily condensed, lasting either 60 or 90 minutes. I no longer remember. It was a letdown. I was disappointed.

Michael S -- I am DearReaderLaura. We had two Lauras at the time this new board was formed, so I used the longer name. When we had an "oops" day some time back (I don't remember what the technicality was), I shortened it and left it that way.

The pastor chose a song for today that no one knew, except him. It was very charming.
