SMALLVILLE. Lana Lang - yuck. At least they've found a way to let the actress leave the show without being mysterious about it.

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES was a rather sour episode. Not much humor in this one.

And BROTHERS & SISTERS.

Now Ryan has arrived. Nice to meet Saul's Henry. Another potential romance for Nora dashed. Ken Olin has lost some weight from the last time he was on the show.

I've decided to reverse my work projects for the next two days. I'll do HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3 tomorrow and HOBSON'S CHOICE on Tuesday. There are fewer bonus features on the Disney film than on the Criterion one, and since I'll be going out to lunch tomorrow afternoon, less time to work on it.

Well, time for bed.  I don't have much to pack, just a suit and my pjs.  I should be able to get that in a carry on with no problem.  I think I'll just do that in the morning.  I'm really hoping to hear from my cat sitter before I leave.  She's very reliable and I'm surprised she hasn't returned my call tonight.

I'm heading off to bed, too. The day has seemed pretty long, and I have a full one tomorrow, too.

Good night!

Back from an incredibly incredible celebratory dinner at Barone's.  I had rigatoni and meatballs and it was just fantastically fantastic.

And then I came home to the best phone message and then phone call I could have asked for, from muse Margaret, who read the last pages and absolutely went bonkers for them.  I cannot tell you how happy that made me.  She was quoting line after line (which always amazes me) and she said the last sequence made her squirm (in a good way) - so happy right now.  She only had one tiny little thing for me to adjust and that was an article of clothing, which I've already done.  So, book will be Xeroxed in the morning and I'll start proofing.

RIP, Blossom Dearie!       :'(

Damn---we were talking about interviewing her. She was friends with Johnny Mercer.

Did you know that Johnny Mercer was originally supposed to write the lyric for the Johnny Mandel tune that, eventually, became "The Shadow of Your Smile"?

I think he was ill at the time, and the assignment went to Paul Francis Webster, who won the Oscar.

I just took a break from my Bollywood movie MISSION ISTANBUL (2008), an action flick about hunky guys fighting terrorists. They had me at "hunky."

For an action film likely aimed at men, there is certainly a  LOT of beefcake on display.

Later tonight (at 7:00 pm), I'm going to a friend's house for a play reading.  The theater group that put on Reefer Madness! The Musical! wants to have their next couple of seasons sketched out and one show that they're very strongly considering is something I've never heard of (which is not surprising...it's not a musical ;)):  "Poona the F*ckdog and Other Plays for Children" :o

We'll see what this is all about. :D

I'm home (and have been for about an hour.  Well, it turns out that it wasn't a play reading.  It was a meeting of the (very small) committee that reads plays for TAO (three people didn't show up and three did...like I said, very small) and the other two people discussed other plays that they'd read and liked and things like that.  They always do a Shakespeare or a classical piece and they always do something different, so I suggested "All the World's a Grave," a New Play by William Shakespeare.  I got a copy from the library and Pug, the director of Nite of the Living Dead! The Musical! that I did last year read it and loved it.  I also suggested a couple other things, so we'll see how it all pans out. :)

If they love The Brain they should contact Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization immediately.  I know one theater company has licensed it for later this year.

Thanks!  I'll let them know that but I don't know if they want to do it for their upcoming season or the season after that.
