Ooh, Craig Bierko.  My only issue with him was the profuse perspiration.  But I suppose that could not be helped.  Other than that he was quite charming as Harold Hill.

As for me in my new tux...

Awwwww... <blush>

*And I have to admit that it was fun dressing up again for the first time in a long time.  I think the last time I wore a tuxedo was for the Helen Hayes Awards about five or six years ago.

**And I even thought I looked quite spiffy.  :)

Why haven't we seen any photos of James all dressed up?  Granted, you looked stunning last night, Jose, but fair is fair.

As another DR mentioned, the numbers are restaged for Radio City Music and for the TV cameras.  Sweeney Todd was "expanded", and they even had Alex Gemignani facing downstage as he played the piano/keyboard - at the O'Neill he faces upstage and keeps an eye on things via a mirror in the set.  And it looked like The Color Purple went ahead and let their understudies be a part of the number.

I don't want to sound bitchy, because I truly enjoyed the Tony Awards last night; but did anyone else get the impression that the producers might have been expecting more of a sweeping victory for THE COLOR PURPLE?  Oprah's speech and where it came in the braodcast, seemed to indicate the start of a coronation that never occured.  Perhaps they expected PURPLE to win Best Musical.  I haven't seen the show, but based on the number(s) done during the broadcast, I would have felt cheated had THE COLOR PURPLE taken the top prize.

Of course, I was hoping that THE DROWSY CHAPERONE would win, based on the two numbers I had seen from the show.  I love the "As We Stumble Along" number.

What I wonder, DR MAtH, is how many times will you watch that DVD-R?

Well, I do have more time on my hands than you do, but every once in awhile, I get the Tony craving and watch a specific year. I enjoy knowing in advance who's going to win and watch more closely the anticipation on the nominees' faces as the announcement is about to be made. I enjoy the scenes from shows gone by, and it's a lot of fun to see how folks change over the years.

Also, those Tony shows have helped me in auditioning before. Before I auditioned for A CHORUS LINE the first time, I took the choreography from the opening number from the Tony salute to Michael Bennett and learned it before I showed up for the audition. And wouldn't you know, the choreographer had pretty much copied that opening step for step. Helped me get in the show.

Finally, I believe you expressed a desire to see the entire DREAMGIRLS segment with Jennifer Holliday. If I didn't have that, I couldn't make you a copy some time. Who knows who might ask for a copy of THE DROWSY CHAPARONE's number some time?

And a P.S. (before I fall off of my high horse) having met quite a lot of old time actors and actresses, some who seemed like they were on their last leg, they absolutely loved any attention they could still get...it is just the performer in them I guess.

But how are they in bed, Uncle Mike?

After the tepid reviews for THE COLOR PURPLE, I'd be surprised if anyone connected with that show was expecting miracles.

I don't know if DR Rodzinski owns this album (if he does it was not shown to me), but I really feel he ought to...

Really?

I find Angelina extremely RESISTible.

She's right up there with Sharon Stone in the "I don't get it" department.

But...different strokes....

I like both Angelina and Sharon

DR TCB - I saw Mr. Wimot a few times last night since he came back to say HI to his fellow castmates.  Alas, I have no clue as to the nature of his companion.

Alas, I was only allowed one ticket for last night...  And the P/R firm for the Tony's ended up restricting his photo agency to one Press Credential/Pass, and that pass had to go to his photographer.  *The photo I posted earlier of Gayle King and Alfre Woodard was taken by one of his staff photographers.  So, James was the one who took the pictures.

I think it was more a case of hoping that the ratings for the Tony's would not slip in the third hour due to the presence of Oprah Winfrey.  Alas, the ratings did diminish as the program went on.

*And The Color Purple was considered the long shot among the nominees - The Wedding Singer was filler.  The race was always between The Drowsy Chaperone and Jersey Boys.

I am actually surprised that the Kurt Weill foundation allowed such a "vulgar" translation of the work. I know from experience dealing with them how tight fisted they are about how Weill's material is used. The show I wrote and directed that incorporated his songs had several stipulation attached to it.

So I am quite surprise that this version was allowed to go ahead. I have a feeling that this version will not be available for future productions.

Count me in as a Julia Roberts fan - she has screen charm and magic . (and No I did not like "Pretty Woman" and very much not "Steel Magnolias") I do not care for the screen presence of Ms Jolie or Ms Stone.

Ms Roberts is DP Colin's favourite (or favorite)Tinkerbelle.

Yes...I'm still trying to figure out a way to work on you about "Steel Magnolias"....but only at times like this when you remind us how much you dislike the film.

So, I waited several hours for my phone call telling me when my range hood would be installed. I called them and was told it is on order and won't be in until Friday. Sigh.

So this afternoon I went out and did the errands that needed to be done this morning.

Patti Lupone, Bette Midler and Wayne Newton together in concert would come close DR Ron.

Oh...I never thought it would come to this -- no Bette Midler?

Well....she's gonna be headlining in heaven...so you might set your sights a little lower....
