Made it safe and sound and with no rain, although it started to drizzle just before we got to the hotel. Had a pleasant cab ride in, and am now in the teeny-tiny room, which, thankfully, is not as teeny-tiny as, say, the Paramount Hotel. There's not a lot of walking room here, but the bed is big, there's a nice desk for Ye Olde Computer, and I'll be just fine for as much as I'll be here. The only annoying thing, actually, is that when I booked the hotel it clearly said there was a gym - but the gym is not on the premises, it's two blocks away and costs $15 a day. I don't love the idea of having to get up early, walk two blocks, do the treadmill (presuming one is available in a busy mid-town gym) and then walk back to the hotel. Seems a little sketchy to me, so I may either not do the gym on this trip or I may try jogging, although I don't have proper jogging shoes here. We shall see.
