Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the Sherman Brothers Stage, and now it is time for you to post until the staged cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BOLLARD!
-
Very nice pictures in your notes, BK!
-
And Congrats to Richard Sherman and (the late) Robert Sherman on their new
theater scoring stage*! :D
*Post updated...see Post #42 (http://www.haineshisway.com/smf/index.php?topic=5480.msg1204382#msg1204382). ;)

Well, I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
First in the actual morning!
-
Love the photos in the notes.
Even that night at the Triad a few years ago, it was clear to see that Mr. Sherman felt so lucky that BK, who really cares, was keeping his work so wonderfully active.
-
Good morning to all
-
BK
Is the Sherman Brothers Stage a sound stage or theater with a stage? wasn't quit sure by your description
-
Good morning, all!
-
Another humid day, so I may wait to make my Harlem trup until tomorrow. I'll see how the weather is when Annabelle and I step out.
-
I think the Sherman news is fantastic.
-
Lasy night, Annabelle, Thatch, and I, by pure coincidence, watched the 1963(?) Disney film of The Incredible Journey, and I wept through most of it. I will explain more about that shortly. I had read the book it's based on, and the film is so faithful to its source. The actors aren't always great, but I watched it amazed by the star turns of the bull terrier, Labrador retriever, and Siamese cat, all perfectly cast/ I have no idea how the director and trainers got such fantastic moments from them.
-
When I was around 12-13, I was given a Siamese kitten for Christmas. My parents bought her from one of my cousin Sue Ellen’s teachers. I named the affectionate, beautiful, kitten, Ming-Toy. She was cream-colored with touches of brown that later darkened into traditional features with the most beautiful blue eyes. I loved her dearly, and we were inseparable for the next five years. I carted that cat around, slept with her every night, and sat with her through the delivery of three litters of kittens before she was spayed. That’s enough, my mother said.
After I left home for college, I came to regard her as my mother’s cat since she was the one who fed her and cared for her, as she did with my brothers’ dogs when they left home. Ming lived comfortably as queen of the house with their basset hounds, beagles, retrievers, and a Cockapoo. College and grad school occupied my time and I took Ming for granted. She became the cat back home, no longer the love of my life or someone I thought about often. Still, when I returned home to my parents’ dismay for what turned out to be seven years of trying to put my life in order, she was the one happiest to see me. She crawled into my lap when I sat, followed me about the house, and bounded into my bed every night around midnight to stay until morning.
As she aged, she became cranky and easily irritated. One day, when she was around sixteen or seventeen, she unexpectedly tore a chunk of flesh from the calf of one of my mother’s visiting sisters. Without saying anything to me, my mother took her to our vet and had her euthanized the next day. I was too caught up in my own personal crises at the time, and I was completely callous and apathetic about the situation. She was just a pet.
After I moved to Manhattan in 1979 and my life settled into a semblance of a career, I missed that cat enormously. I sound like a character out of Follies, but I have so many regrets about decisions I could have made concerning her between September 1964 and her death in the mid-1970s
-
I think Annabelle and Thatch may be a bit jealous of my love for Ming. They've been terribly affectionate since the movie last night.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Those are indeed great photos from last night.
-
DR Elmore, I've known a number of people with similar stories about a beloved cat or dog from their childhood or young adulthood. This has to be one of the reasons we are so drawn to giving these animals the best possible love and care now.
-
Well, I have a busy morning of running errands, and a busy afternoon preparing for a cable technician to arrive and figure out why we don't have a cable signal in the bedroom that was rebuilt after the storm. It has to be that a line was cut at some point in the chaos, and they'll have to replace it.
-
Good to hear from vixmom. I didn't remember exactly when the Florida trip was.

TOD
Oh my, too many to name. Maybe I can list a top few favorites later.

There had been a big fire on the California border, 8 miles from our old house. It isn't the only fire in the area. I haven't been tracking the fires, just getting information from friends on the terrible air quality there.
We had a few rather bad summers there when the wind blew smoke into the area from various fires making the haze so thick you could hardly see through it and shutting down the outdoor theater because the air was difficult to breathe.
-
Nice photos from last night.

Good morning, all.
-
Love the photos in the notes.
-
Thanks for sharing the story, Elmore. I felt something similar about my rabbit, Freddie Joe, who became my mother’s pet and raisin d’etre when I, the last kid, left for college.
Poor rabbit got ill and died during Christmas dinner one year.

I am so happy the Disney Organization is naming stages for folks like the Shermans and Annette and giving a nod to their history.....and we don't have the Zac Efron Stage and the Britney Spears Stage....

Tuesday
morning afternoon greetings! We are having a very lazy day here. Slept until after 8, then fixed a nice waffles and bacon breakfast. No plans for today, except for cat-sitting and watching for her staff to return from their little vacation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
-
I believe that when I first saw The Sword and the Rose around 1954, it was titled When Knighthood Was In Flower.
-
Keep those good vibes coming for the mother of DR Ron.
-
From DR ELMORE's list:
Pollyanna
Third Man on the Mountain
-
The DVD releases of several of these films have been disappointing....
-
Yes DR JANE....
-
The Sherman Brothers Stage was/is the scoring stage directly opposite the commissary.
-
I'm up - was up at eight- thirty then went back to bed at nine-thirty - I think I somehow got six hours of sleep.
-
Good morning.
-
Back from a bacon cheeseburger and side Caesar salad.
-
I want a bacon cheeseburger and a Caesar Side.....
-
But first I have to go to the theatre to take pictures of EVERYONE and his sisters, and his cousins, and his aunts who is in, working on, is thinking about attending, or has heard of Disney's Beauty and the Beast....
AND then we will run Act One of Bigfoot in the Park....

Rehearsal was fun and I'm still waiting for a package to get to the mail place that should have been there hours ago but it's being delivered by the idiot Amazon driver - yesterday he showed up while I was picking up stuff at 4:45, which is plain stupid for a mail place and I've argued this point many times. Today he STILL hasn't arrived. He'll probably show up at 6:25 effectively making it so I can't get it today - if that happens I will ask for a complete refund because only then will they maybe have a talk with this idiot and tell him to not make a UPS Store the final stop on his route.
-
No haze today, nice and clear with a cooler 88 degrees.
-
The high today here in Tumwater was 79°F, and it's 77°F right now. :)
-
And on that note (F#), I'm outta here. I'm heading home and will need to work on some props stuff.
Be back later.
-

Very nice.
-
We have been walking in the morning to avoid the heat. I think I can relax tomorrow morning and get cleaning done.
-
Maybe relax was the wrong word to use ;)
-
Speaking of not relaxing....DR Jeanne how is the work coming in your ceiling?
-
We are about to watch TULLY.
-
Three!
-
Where is everyone today?
-
Went out to celebrate Cecil's birthday tonight.
-
We had the Feed Me special, which was seven small plates of food, which added up to one large meal.
-
First was an eggplant spread with goat cheese, pine nuts, raisins and sauteed celery.
-
Second was a mint and dill salad with a kind of deconstructed fig tart.
-
Followed by sizzling hot hush puppies with lebneh.
-
Thai green beans appeared at the same as a bowl of summer squash with toasted pepitas and chicken livers.
-
Ricotta cavatelli was served with pesto and pecans. This was perhaps my favorite.
-
A New York strip steak was served with shavings of black truffle on top. Underneath was a mix of baby corn and kernels of fresh corn.
-
They forgot Cecil had told them at the beginning that he was corn intolerant, so they brought out a plate of pan-cooked fingerling potatoes with more black truffle shavings on top as an apology.
-
Dessert was a carrot cake financier topped with a cream cheese semi-freddo.
-
During the dinner, a thunderstorm whipped up and the rain came down like a monsoon. The two outside tables quickly cleared.
-
When I got home, I discovered that it hadn't rained here. Bummer.
-
Now I'm watching the last of Burnt by the Sun with its horrifying finale.
-
Today was also my last visit to the dentist for some time.
-
Hello, 0 guests!
-
What's your favorite anti-Soviet/anti-Stalin picture?
-
One of my favorite throwaway scenes in the movie involved the drunk uncle who is trying to get the birds to say something. All one of them will screech at him is: "You damned womanizer!"
-
Good night, all.
-
Gratuitous post No. 80!
-
Had an impromptu meal at Barone's with Grant - since I'd eaten the main meal, I just had the appetizer scampi - four shrimp. It was great.
-
Then I watched a motion picture.
-
Now I'm listening to music.
-
First was an eggplant spread with goat cheese, pine nuts, raisins and sauteed celery.
Sounds good.
-
Second was a mint and dill salad with a kind of deconstructed fig tart.
Not too sure about this one.
-
Followed by sizzling hot hush puppies with lebneh.
Meatless, right?
-
Thai green beans appeared at the same as a bowl of summer squash with toasted pepitas and chicken livers.
Thai green beans, if they weren't spicy but I suspect they were, sound good.
-
Ricotta cavatelli was served with pesto and pecans. This was perhaps my favorite.
It sounds yummy even though I am not a fan of pecans.
-
They forgot Cecil had told them at the beginning that he was corn intolerant, so they brought out a plate of pan-cooked fingerling potatoes with more black truffle shavings on top as an apology.
That was nice of them.
-
Dessert was a carrot cake financier topped with a cream cheese semi-freddo.
I had to look up financier and expect I would like the carrot cake. I do not believe I have had semi-freddo.
-
Today was also my last visit to the dentist for some time.
Congratulations.

Split pea
Bean with bacon
Cream of potato

I used to make a great split pea soup.
-
My grandmother used to make a great cream of potato.

Agreed!!
-
I got my new TacomaLittle Theatre’s 100th Anniversry brochure in the mail.
-
It has, on the history page, a photo of me from my main stage debut in 1965 of A THOUSAND CLOWNS.
-
They probably should have put a picture of me from SECOND SAMUEL just to balance it out.
-
It has, in the history page, a photo of me from my sin stage debut in 1965 of A THOUSAND CLOWNS.
That's so cool! I didn't know that you sinned onstage for the first time at TLT!
-
I got that too, but I haven't looked through it, yet. ::)
-
Page five? Really?

Page five? Really?
Don’t start!

I am on the far right. Basically a photo of me and another actor with Bubbles, my statue whose boobs lit up.

My prop man built that statue himself.

It looks like our time is almost up.

My niece has been the hospital for an entire week. Last night they finally moved her out of ICU into a regular room.

Tomorrow morning is her surgery, and then she will go back into ICU.
