Many thanks, Tom...and also to others who expressed similar sentiments.

It IS fun...but nothing beats actually "receiving" the items after the auction ends!

I know. Sometimes the waiting is the hardest part.

Maria:  Often, animals go off their feed if they cannot smell it.

Is it possible that the Wonderdog MIGHT have some allergies that render his smeller inoperative?

I think one thing you might try is to hand-feed him something...opening his mouth and putting some food into it...if he eats it vigorously, then he's probably not smelling it.  Coax him a little with more hand-feeding until you get him over the bowl...he might just start eating it on his own.

Glad you brought that up about Kings Island. I meant to mention that as well. For some reason I had always thought KI and Cedar Point were owned by the same people in recent years. Didn't Paramount own Kings Island?  But not Cedar Point I guess. Guess it could mean more good roller coasters at Kings Island, but will they get rid of Paramount-themed rides?

In my youth, I don't know who owned Kings Island, but it was all Hanna Barbera, the greatest place ever.

Thanks for all the theories about Wonderdog. I think he felt your concern because he ate his supper tonight. Well - he ate half of it, then I took the dish from its stand and put it on the floor and he ate the rest.
He's not sick - he's as playful as ever. I think it's a combination of being bored with the food and scared of his dish.

Danise - the only friend he's lost is his park buddy, Eddie. who got run over and killed a few months ago. But he only saw Eddie once a week -- and I didn't give him the bad news. As far as he knows, Eddie just quit coming to the park.

I think he'll be fine. And here's a photo I took minutes ago to prove it...

While I'm doing Show and Tell -- here are some lovely items DD sent back from Istanbul (she's no longer there - no worries about the airport fire).

THE GOLF WARS was some kind of absurd allegory. It was about the duelling pianists, a comedy team doing a show in Hawaii, and they became embroiled in controversy when someone is accidentally killed during military excercises overseen by Jack Aashimoto, the son of a major resort owner, and so on...

Sadly, I don't have that hat anymore. The strap broke during the final performance.

Today, the ever-giving Salvation Army yielded some nice LPs. A Francoise Hardy album on Reprise, Aznavour and George Moustaki imports in fine shape, a King Sisters LP, and some other odds and ends.

Maria, I very pleased to hear Abie is eating again.

DD sent some lovely items from Istanbul.  Are they for you to keep or to save until she returns?

She sent even more -- beautiful handmade pillow cases (for throw cushions) and embroidered throws. She'll be taking the items eventually. Perhaps not for a while. The apartment in San Francisco where she'll be living for the next year is a furnished sublet, so she may not want it for there. I don't know.
Today she's in Copenhagen, tomorrow Stockholm, then Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Tallinn (Estonia) Gdansk and Oslo. The kid gets around!

And finally - for no reason at all - my beloved Pee Wee collection...

My sister loved Pee Wee, too! (the character, not the actor ::)).  She also has the ventriloquist doll.  When I played seven different characters in the show Annie, one of them was the radio ventriloquist when they sing "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile."  We borrowed the doll for the show.  Several audience members came up to me after the shows and told me how much they loved Pee Wee (this was before the "controversy").

TPunk I don’t think you are being oversensitive.  Is it possible said person has gotten too used to being the center of attention at home?  How old is she?

She hasn't really lived at home for some time and I don't think it's a question of age- she's 25 only 3 years younger than me.  Folks who know us both have said in the past that I should just wait for her to mature.  But recently I've come to realize that we are just very different people, and that we relate to people in a very different way.

Thanks, I think so too, this camera is the first I've ever been able to capture Nilla's eyes.  That makes me very happy

I don't think it has quite yet.  I kind of feel like I'm in limbo waiting to hear back about a particular job.  I think that once I know either yes or no, I'll have a better idea of what my life is going to look like over the next few months and then things will finally start to sink in.

Or, maybe the first time I get to select master's degree as the highest level of education completed when I fill out a survey will be the defining moment.
