And the word of the day is: AARDVARK.

One of my favorites.

Coming up soon: Leslie Parrish.  That is, if anyone is here to view.

As promised: The leggy, gorgeous, dreamy Miss Leslie Parrish.  It doesn't get much better than this.

Of course, I could recount the tale of The Randy Vicar and the Aardvark.  It's quite ribald, oh, yes, it is quite ribald.

Cheesecake! Hubba-Hubba!  O You Kid!  Twenty-three skiddo! (whatever that means!)

AARDVARK:  Isn't AARDVARK the sound an Anteater makes when he chokes on an ant?

Okay, here's a question...just for the sake of asking a question (and this is for anyone):  how often have you picked up an eBay purchased item in person versus getting it shipped?

I've seen quite a few eBay listings that state outright that the items cannot be picked up in person.  I've never purchased anything from someone who lives in my area, so it's never been an option.  Just curious. ::)

No WUSSBURGER here!  Maybe an AARDVARK, but no WUSSBURGER, ya wild kid, ya.

I've only picked up a handful of things in person.  Some art that I've sold to people in LA I've let them pick up - much better than dealing with the shipping.

Sounds cheaper for both parties, too.  I also dislike when sellers do not combine shipping so that the buyer can save a few dollars.  Those sellers (from what I've seen) also tend to charge the most:  they charge for both shipping "and handling."  :P

Once I saw an aardvark
Sitting in the park
Eating a ham on rye
I said a hello
And wouldn't you know
The aardvark was saying goodbye.

Ack!  What am I doing up at this unseemly hour?

I had been in bed less than an hour when I awakened and realized I ached all over.

Have taken two Tylenol...and a spritz from my inhaler...and thought, "What the hay! I'll take a peek at HHW.com and see what's doin'!"

Now, as Abelard said to Heloise, let's forget the whole thing, please....or, in other words, "Never mind."

Good night, all.

DR GEORGE I have been in the same situation.  It is very difficult to be in charge of someone else's pets.  After a couple of times, I told myself I wouldn't do it again either.

Aha!  DR CHARLES POGUE - I can tell you exactly what 23 Skidoo means.  When the Flatiron Building was constructed in NYC way back when - it was located at the intersection of Broadway - Fifth AV - and 22nd street.  The breeze created by its construction caused ladies' skirts to be wafted skyward - sometimes exposing even the ladies' knees.  Young men and construction workers gathered on the corner of nearby 23rd street to gawk at the view, and policeman had to be dispatched to disperse said gangs of gawkers most of the time saying:  "Skidoo!" - giving rise to the phrase "23 skidoo!"

Isn't that interesting?

DR HISAKA did you get the Frances Farmer link I put here for you yesterday?

My question for ASK BK day - what film have you seen only once, and then it seemed to disappear never to be seen again.....a film that you would enjoy seeing again in no matter what form....

Good morning, all!  I slept quite late this morning.  After finishing the BABES editorial work yesterday, my mind refused to function.  I came home, read all the posts, couldn't think of a thing to add remotely interesting, read a bit about the 1903 Iroquois Theatre fire, and crashed.

Dear Friend BK, the photo of Leslie Parrish is truly classic cheesecake.  I'm a bit afraid of this LI'L ABNER high school recording.  I have one of THE SOUND OF MUSIC with a third rate orchestra and cast, and it's too sad to be remotely amusing.

DRSwishySarah, it was nice to see your return!

DRPogue, I hope your listening is going well.

DRGeorge, did you ever play ME AND JULIET?  I think it's a difficult score to admire.  As a child, I loved the script and the backstage story, but I could never warm up to the score.

DRMBarnum, I enjoyed your William Reynolds interview.  Congrats!

Good Morning. No questions at this point but I must post anyway.

Looks like our weekend plans have changed. We were going to be in the city but Anthony has booked at least one clown show and possibly another so since it's the long weekend for us working folk, I will head out to Long Island with him and we will relax, play with the doggie, visit a friend or two and eat too much food cooked by Mama Rose (his mother's name is Rose).

That's all for now. Back later when I have more interesting information to post.

Thanks DR Elmore3003! I got a very nice letter from William Reynolds this weekend thanking me, and wishing that he could do it all over again (his career), only better!

Tonight I interview Michael Forest, star of BEAST FROM HAUNTED CAVE, SKI TROOP ATTACK, and VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT.

I think Leslie forgot to wear her clothing!

JRand54, I loved that explanation of 23 Skidoo!

Greetings - I've been using the record player function of the 4-in-1 audio system that DH gave me for Christmas to become reacquainted with all my cast recordings.  This morning I'm listening to "The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd," and am amazed how many of those songs became pop hits.

So, my question for bk and others, what songs from Broadway shows that became "hits" are your favorites?

Glibert Price sang "Feeling Good" in THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT. Is it the song you folks were writing about last night?

Last night, DR Rodzinski wrote:

"Well Matt, there are 30 episodes on the TOP CAT dvd. IMDB says it ran from 1961-62, but I'm not sure if that means one season or split between two. TOP CAT has never gotten the same sort of revival or following as the Jetsons or Flintstones, but fans know its superiority. "

It ran for one season in 1961-62. You're not old enough to remember, but shows routinely made 30 or more episodes per season back then. I remember watching the first season of TOP CAT in prime time - seems like Friday at 7:30, but I'd have to check a book to be certain of its time slot. Back then, NBC and ABC shows shared the same channel here in Charlotte - Channel 9 - and they would pick and choose from the best of each network, but sometimes they'd show programs on a delay. For example, we got BATMAN a week later than the rest of the country because Channel 9 showed it WEdnesdays at 7 (also Thursdays at 7) so they could show THE VIRGINIAN (an NBC show) at 7:30, its scheduled network slot.

"Skidoo... Skidoo... The only think that matters is with who you do"
-so sang Carol Channing in the infamous Otto Preminger film SKIDOO

I had often given JRand's version of the origin of "23 Skidoo", but have since been informed it is an urban legend as there are records of the phrase going back to the turn of the century.  Boo, no fun!
