Well, you've read the notes, the notes put the kibosh on the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently putting the kibosh on the kows.
-
And the word of the day is: SIMPATICO!
-
First post after BK!
-
I have a couple of questions for you, BK. You've probably talked about this before, but how did you meet Muse Margaret and how long have you known each other?
-
First after George!
-
TOD: I can't think of any questions!
-
Matthew - That's great. Let's aim for the Tuesday April 18 during the day (late afternoon) rather than Wednesday morning, then , for that mini-HHW get-together.. I'll get messages out to the people who RSVP'd.
-
Good morning to all
-
I also enjoyed watching Wait Until Dark over the years.
I used to live a couple of blocks once from the opening apartment scene in Montreal. It is also nice to Dorval Airport as it was back in the 60's.
-
ASK BK
Wait Until Dark Questoion
Do you think the title song over the end credits was an Oscar bait; which it didn't get?
I think it is one of the lesser Mancini theme song despite lyrics by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.
Who cares how cold and grey
The day may be
Wait until dark
And we'll be warm
Our place of love
Is where we face our dreams
Together
Where our fantasies take form
When I can't feel your nearness
In the night
My disappointments disappear
A cheerless day may bring us
Little dreams
That seem to miss their mark
But oh my darling
Wait until dark
A cheerless day may bring us
Little dreams
That seem to miss their mark
But oh my darling
Wait until dark
-
Wednesday!
Kibosh - I like to do that....I also like lowering the boom!

My question for ASK BK DAY:
Have you seen a film released in 1987 titled THE HIDDEN? It was on Comcast last week. It was filmed on multiple LA locations.....not much studio work at all. It begins at a Wells Fargo Bank near 5th Street and Flower....the police work out of the Lincoln Park Police Station....there is an imported car dealership, a record store with a pink wall inside, and a diner..... The hero lives in a Craftsman type house in a neighborhood that has light poles with large glass globes on the top. I didn't watch until the end, but I am sure there are more.
-
Good morning, all.
-
An okay sleep. No dreams worthy of mention.
Best of all, no snow/sleet/ice on the gosh darned driveway. Only sun and the start of some lovely thawing.
Coffee!
-
DR Jrand66, I don't remember knowing about that movie myself. Looked it up. Seems to be kind of a sleeper. Kyle MacLachlan. Nothing listed on the IMDb Filming Locations page except a downtown hotel and MacArthur Park, so that probably needs some rectifyin'.
-
Here's a question: Has anyone here ever submitted any such information, additions or corrections, to the IMDb? I don't know who has the privilege of doing that. Can anyone with a login submit?
-
Good morning.
-
Wait Until Dark is a treasure, and I'll wager everyone remembers their "first time". I look forward to my own "next time".
BK is so right about that last thankless scene. Is it pretty much the same in the play? I think so, but could be wrong. I wonder if I have a copy here. But what a masterpiece, overall.
-

I did, but I don't know whether that's because we also had a paid-for imdb-pro subscription then.
I'd added a bio for Skip on a page they'd had already had set up, and I also added an item to the trivia for the movie VIVA MAX! that we had done a table-read of a musical based on the same novel. It took a little bit of time, but it seemed whatever i put up was accepted verbatim, IIRC.
The bio of Skip named me as the source as you can see here
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0448535/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm
The trivia item didn't credit it, I think.

I probably said so earlier, but just in case ... I'm in!

Great!!!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept in and now I'm running late. I will leave for City Center and another 30 minutes.
-
Good morning.
-
I haven't seen Wait Until Dark since its first release, and I loved it, still remember " the moment" where I would swear I jumped a full foot out of my seat, Another great memory of the old Paramount Theatre in Middletown, OH.
-
Sorry to be E&T. I've had a bad cold.
-
Condolences to DR JRAND.
-
I saw Wait Until Dark many years ago. I think I should see it again.
-
Thank you DR KEVIN H.
-
DR CHAS SMITH I do not have a PAID subscription like DR FJL, but I have submitted things to IMDB that have been used. It's a LOT of clicking.....but it's nice to have accurate info there. It does take some time...but eventually you get an email that tells you your item has been added.
-
I had never heard of THE HIDDEN either - it is on COMCAST ON Demand for a few more days.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I first watched Wait Until Dark on a bright, sunny Million Dollar Movie matinee. I was scared. I was also about 8 or 9.
-
I am very simpatico about putting a kibosh on things.
-
"Wait Until Dark" delivered my first "almost peed my pants" moment.
The only other film to do that is the ending of "Carrie".
Truth: I still jump even though I know the moments are coming.

Vibes for DR Vixmom!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.

I have a couple of questions for you, BK. You've probably talked about this before, but how did you meet Muse Margaret and how long have you known each other?
We met in the late 1970s. We were running into each other at tons of commercial auditions and just instantly connected because we both hated the waiting room and many of the other actors therein. So, we struck up a friendship and then I put her in The Creature Wasn't Nice and we've been grand pals all these years.
-
To answer Shayne's question about the Wait Until Dark song: It may have been for Oscar consideration, but remember that Mr. Mancini always had songs in his movies back then - I can't recall any film he scored that didn't have a Mancini song in it, so it was pretty SOP for him. While it's sung over the end credits, it also is played on the radio several times in the film, as well as being used in the actual underscore at least a couple of times. The uncredited vocalist, by the way, is Sue Raney.

Have not seen The Hidden - I'll have to check it out.

I am home from City Center. Joshie is up to his ears in "Big river" work today, so I did what I needed to accomplish and then beat it out of Dodge.

That's good to know.
It feels like we only use IMDB-Pro, which is the part that costs money (I think), a few times a year.

All this "alternative facts" discussion these days reminds me of the tongue-in-cheek saying we learned in the second week of law school:
How to win you case:
If the facts are against you, pound on the law
If the law is against you, pound on the facts
If both are against you, pound on the table.

What a coinkydink! I actually watched and recorded that! I kept thinking that Kyle MacLachlan who played an FBI agent (sort of ;) ) eventually went from that into "Twin Peaks," playing another FBI agent.

I have a free account and have made some corrections (typos and things like that), but I haven't submitted any new material.

Truth: I still jump even though I know the moments are coming.
The last time I actually jumped while watching a movie was when I saw the John Carpenter remake of "The Thing" during one of Theater Artists Olympia's movie nights last yera. There were two, count 'em, TWO moments that I literally jumped out of my chair. My friend who was sitting next to me had also jumped both times and we sort of laughed at ourselves the first time, but it didn't stop up from jumping at the second surprise.
:))

And speaking of "Twin Peaks," I looked it up on IMDb (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098936/reference) and went to Michael Ontkean's listing (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0648920/reference) and saw that just yesterday, January 24, 2016, was his 70th birthday! Who knew?

A certain moment near the end of "Deliverance" ain't too shabby, either.

Farewell, Miss Dorothy.

I understand Mary Tyler Moore has died.

I understand Mary Tyler Moore has died.
CBS just confirmed it. I met her once, ages ago. One of her assistants sang in the NYC Gay Men's Chorus/
-
Goodbye, Laura Petrie! Adios, Mary Richards! Farewell, Miss Dorothy Brown. Ta-Ta Holly Golightly (almost). So long, Beth Jarrett!
It was absolutely GRAND knowing you!!!
-
I understand Mary Tyler Moore has died.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:'( :'( :'(

She was a fine actress - comedy and drama - and I think i enjoyed her in everything I saw her in......Coast to Coast Big Mouth, Chuckles Funeral, and Rhoda's Wedding are three episodes I always watch when they are on.....

Great - I may try and see a show that night, so we'll have to try and time it so it will work!
-
Good afternoon!
-
It's ask BK day, so it also must be Wednesday, my day off
-
I got my car smogged, then spent a lot of the morning reading the news, which i seem to do everyday now - as well as looking up any new acronyms that come my way. And that's all I'll say about THAT.
-
Saw the National Tour of Kinky Boots last night. Still a great show, but wasn't too impressed with the two leading men - or was one a woman? Anyway, the guy playing Charlie - his vocals were bad, mostly vowel placement, probably because the role might be a little high for him. The guy playing "Lola" wasn't really dynamic at all, which makes the whole show kinda ho-humm.

If your drag queen ain't flamboyant, what's the point? She might as well dress and act like June Cleaver.

The only sad, silly, sorrowful performance from the great MTM that I recall was her turn as a nun with Elvis Presley in Change of Habit.
That movie was best remembered for Elvis singing Rubberneckin'.
-
AARRGGHH!! I think I'm getting a cold. :P I've been coughing and my head hurts (and I'm hungry), so I'm going home to sleep for a while. I have a ton of sick leave, so I'm going to use it.
Be back later...from home.
-
So sorry about Mary Tyler Moore.
-
Back from trying the "senior/kids" menu version of mac-and-cheese at Jerry's - it couldn't have been more than two ounces of noodles, but I had it with a side of bacon and a bagel and it was very good. I proofed about 50 pages so far.
-
Wednesday afternoon greetings from HOME!!! We had a smooth drive from Athens, TN, and we're very glad to be here.
-
So sad to hear about MTM :(
-
It's a beautiful day !
-
Good to see you, DR Kerry.
-
Vibes for DR George.

I keep thinking I'm going to end up sick before Saturday's competition. Trying my best to pamper myself and stay healthy.
-
Ah - the police station in THE HIDDEN is not Lincoln Park it's Echo Park.

Because I had to get up early today of course it was a morning I actually slept in. Keith woke me up. He is much better than an alarm.

Welcome home.
-
I did not see WAIT UNTIL DARK in a theater. Scary movies have never been my thing. Keith was shocked to return home from work one night to not only find that I had watched it, but that I had watched it home alone. I thought it was great but do agree about poor Efrem Zimbalist Jr.
-
Proofed about seventy-five pages, ran all the changes by Muse Margaret - most of them she was fine with, others we're ignoring, but they include two pretty fun additions, one of which will involve a whole new paragraph. I think I'll just start entering them now.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Where is everyone?
-
Donde esta la genta esta noche?
-
Ou est tout le monde?

They cut my favorite song, Moonshine Lullaby.

Betty Hutton can't lip-sync. And her actions on screen rarely seem to match the emotions in her voice.

It's been a very long day.

But let's move on ...

Four!
-
The outtakes of Judy Garland show that it could have been a much better movie with her. The material fits her.
-
Good night, all.

I came home and went to sleep. I slept for several hours and feel a little better but still not great. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

I just watched THE DRESSMAKER. A very interesting film, one of the best I've seen in a while. Judy Davis is sooo good; the whole cast is strong.
Bruce, have you seen it? If you haven't, you should.
-
Vibes for DR George.
Thanks, John! I certainly need 'em.

Mega health vibes to DRs George, Kerry, John G, and anyone else needing them.

Betty Hutton can't lip-sync. And her actions on screen rarely seem to match the emotions in her voice.
I thought she did all of her own singing.
-
Page four? Really?

Finished with my viewing, entered all of today's fixes, and watched a documentary about Peter Bogdanovich.
