Listening to Sibelius tone poems. Lovely but not as lovely as the seven symphonies. Tonight I listened to four of the symphonies, this batch another Von Karajan performance done about fifteen years after his well-liked 60s on Deutsche Grammophone. This batch includes a first symphony, which he didn't record in the earlier batch. But the fifth in this later iteration has some very good moments but boy does he and his engineers blow the big tune and all its emotion in the third movement.

I lunched at John O'Groats, a place that BK and I ate at once. It's a nice little place, very mom-and-pop, and the food is consistently good. Many regulars, most of whom are seniors. That's nice for a change.
