Well, I thought knowing the abbreviation would help me, but it doesn't. The topic of the day is...this list of movies? Is Tom throwing out all of these to discuss in terms of what ties them all together, or are we to discuss them piecemeal, or what? I am ashamed to say I have only seen Raiders. Well, I only remember Raiders. I saw Reds when it first came out and was bored by it.

You need to read bk's daily notes to get the topic of the day always listed in the last paragraph of the daily notes.

"Issues" aside, if your want a new leader for the 21st Century this is the man.

From today's BK Column, final paragraph:

Today’s topic of discussion: Name your top ten favorite films of the 80s. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, as I rest the weary bones and head off to the bedroom environment.

List selections can, of course, be discussed.  Unlike other forums where when you make a list you get attacked for your choices, here it's all "informational."  Feel free, however, to ask folks what it is about one or more of their choices that appeals to them if you are curious.

You need to read bk's daily notes to get the topic of the day always listed in the last paragraph of the daily notes.

Maybe I am reading the wrong notes. Is that different from the daily column? (Today's daily column is BK's notes, so I assume it is not.) The last paragraph of today's notes is: Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I really must get to bed and rest the weary bones and get my beauty rest, too.

It seems like the actual topic of the day is '80s movies or something similar. I am willing to pay extra for some guidance here.

Actually, "The Unseemly Button" is basically a "continued" and he goes on waxes poetic for a few more paragraphs....

Hello, everyone.

In case BK didn't tell you, I've been laid up with a nasty case of food poisoning. It left me very weak and I'm still not ready to be up and around yet. I'm just checking in briefly.

Let me say, though, WELCOME BACK to BRETTYSPAGHETTI.

At some point I shall attempt to catch up and rejoin you.

Unfortunately, current campaigning seems to be avoiding "substance" - on all sides.

I. for one, wish candidates would recognize the limitations of power that the President has in many areas - particularly domestic policy. Instead of attempting to craft specific legislation in stump speeches, I would preder to hear:

"I will urge Congress to present me with legislation that will address the future insolvancy of the Social Security Syatem."

"I will urge Congress to present me with legislation that comprises a National Energy Policy which will address both our dependency on foreign resources and our incresed concern for the environment."

"I will urge Congress to present me with legislation that will expand our health care safety net."

Bretty, as mentioned, the clicking on the Unseemly Button will take you to part two of the notes, and in the final paragraph there is the topic of the day.

Oh, and I'm up.  Had an e-mail this morning from the main person in the good news and since we're now talking specifics I think we're looking good, but I'm waiting to hear back from the people who actually decide.

As for the 80s movies, my top two would have to be:
JEAN DE FLORETTE
MANON OF THE SPRING

I adore both of these films, have seen them numerous times, read the source novel, owned every home video edition ever produced and have the marvelous soundtracks, too.
