Thanks again for the all the Travel Vibes!!!!

You're welcome! Glad to have you back with us.

It's great to be back!

*And no tears when I left Charleston... And no tears when I looked out the window of the airplane and saw the New York Skyline for the first time in almost two months... Beautiful!

I gotta scoot also. Time to leave for my meeting at Ford. Oh, if only they would give a sweet, non-threatening "special interest" couple a grant to allow them to live the rest of their lives tax free so one could pursue his interest in theatre and the the other could travel to see the first one and then they could travel together when the first one is not pursing his interest in theatre ;)

But that is not what this meeting is about so that ain't gonna happen!

Someday, DR Ben.  Someday.

DR Jose, please check to see if you have a good email address for Hugh Panaro. I haven't been able to send him any updates on McGlinn.

I heard today that the toxology report is in: no suicide. He died of  cardiovascular disease, with one of his arteries being 90% blocked.

As for the Topic of the Day...

The one show that came right to my mind was The Who's Tommy.  Even though the second act flagged a little bit by design, everything else from the staged overture to the simply staged finale with the company singing directly at the audience was simply magic to me.  One of the few shows that I saw more than once.

DR Jose, of course you stayed longer than expected at the party.  I expected you to anyway ;)

:)

Of course, right now, I'm contemplating a nap. But since it's a nice afternoon here in NYC, I'm also thinking a trip to Central Park might be in order.  -And I guess I could take a nap in Central Park... Hmm...

Please wave, DR Jose, and maybe if you look hard enough, you'll be able to see what I'm watching for my work project. At this stage of the morning, even *I* don't know what it's going to be yet!

DR MattH - I waved, but I couldn't see your TV.  Ah, well. ;)

Welcome home, Jose. Glad you had such a great trip.

Thanks, too, for the house-hunting vibes. I think I could afford a vacant lot. Maybe I could pitch a tent or buy one of the storage sheds they sell at Home Depot. I don't expect to do anything for a couple months yet.

I took my new cell phone back to AT&T. They fixed the voice mail problem--wouldn't tell me if it was something I did or something that was wrong with the phone. Now I can pick up my voice mail. However, they weren't helpful about fixing the other problem. Sigh.

Did you watch LITTLE DORRIT?

We will watch it tonight. :)

Several calls have been cut off. I suspect I'm pressing some button my mistake, but don't know which one. I don't think I'm hitting the hang-up button (whatever they call it). One day I was reaching for the phone and pressed the volume control, which is on the side of the phone. Apparently if you press that while the phone is ringing it thinks you don't want the call. Oy! The phone not that big; you have to touch it to pick it up!

I may not have the gene for cell phones. I've always preferred land lines.

Is it possible that where you're staying you may be "between" towers, or in a fringe area of AT&T's network?  Or do the dropped calls happen anywhere and everywhere? -Is there a "sensitivity" setting on the phone? ;)

I wore shorts and a short sleeved shirt for lunch out today - summer clothes in April. There ought to be a law!

Well, if you had been able to see it, it wouldn't have been X-MEN or either of its sequels. More about that later!

When I left for lunch, the mail hadn't come and neither had UPS, so I didn't know what I'd be working on this afternoon.

When I got back, the mail had come bringing me the IMAX film AMAZON on Blu-ray. And UPS arrived bringing me some new Criterion releases. But no X-MEN!

Interesting flu article - lots of words in there like "potential" and "could be" and like that - still only twenty cases here and every single one of them involving people who'd visited Mexico.  I'd be all for shutting down all travel to and from that country.

Especially through San Diego.

Check out this map to see all the locations around the world.  Pink is only suspect, purple is the confirmed cases.  I don’t know if the site will update as new cases appear.

So, I chose the Blu-ray of AMAZON to watch this afternoon. Very enjoyable 40-minute film, but the shots of nature in the region were just too brief. One longed for the intensity and depth of a PLANET EARTH episode.

The Blu-ray was, of course, spectacular, and unlike PLANET EARTH, the AMAZON disc had a DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround track which was mesmerizing.

There were a few bonus features on the disc, too, so I watched and noted those. The disc was BD-Live enabled also, so I took the time to download the desktop for that website and poke around it. Basically just a sales site for others of their Blu-rays.
