Last evening, DR Jennifer said:

Quote
And yes DR Jrand, it was a good TAR tonight! I"ll be curious to see who people are rooting for now. There are some interesting dynamics and i could see some people disliking certain teams now.

Well, I guess I'm still pulling for Margie and Luke, but after last week's bitch-fest, it's more like they are my least disliked of the remaining teams.  I don't like Kisha and Jen for their part of the bitch-fest and because I don't think they are Final Three worthy.  I don't like Tammy and Victor because I find them smug and condescending.  While I sort of like Jaime and Cara, I am really turned off by Jamie's ugly American attitude towards the people of the countries in which she is a guest.  And while I had been a huge fan of Margie and Luke, I am not so much now since seeing how immature Luke is and how much of an enabler his mother is.  At this point, I could stop watching and it would be no big loss for me.

I feel this way, but a little less strongly than you DR Dan.  If you want REAL entertainment, you should be watching Celebrity Apprentice...no wait, that's temper tantrums, acting immature and being smug and condescending....But it's a lot funnier....

I think it's funny that it seems like every week the promos are showing Joan Rivers spitting out "You are a despicable human being!"  Has she really said that every week?

What an interesting evening of viewing I've had.

I began by watching the next in my stack of Warner Archive movies: POSSESSED, the 1931 version with Joan Crawford and Clark Gable. I'm not sure I had ever seen this before. It's a typical rags to riches Crawford saga that she seemed to make over and over during those years of her career. Gable was still new enough in the business that he wasn't billed over the title yet. Both do very well with the soapy material.

The transfer looked like it came from an old videotape master. It was cleaner than some of the older Archive DVDs I've gotten, but decidedly soft, and the sound was really rocky, full of hiss and crackle.

After I finished that relatively short movie, I watched last night's episode of THE TUDORS. This was the episode that featured the birth of Edward and the death of Queen Jane. Looks like we're going to get to Anne of Cleves very quickly.

Next, I started watching last night's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, but I only got about halfway through before I needed to begin tonight's primetime line-up I wanted to watch. I'll finish it tomorrow. Jeff GOldblum joined the cast in the episode.

CHUCK's season finale did indeed change the playing field if the show gets another season.

If his resignation from Buy More stays put, that will be the biggest asset the show could achieve. I wouldn't care if I never saw another one of those characters.

Next came tonight's '24' episode. Another tense hour with some good scenes particularly between Sutherland and Voight and Sutherland and Garafalo.

And, of course, bringing Chloe back into the picture is ALWAYS a plus.

And I completed my evening with tonight's MEDIUM. I LOVED the way they resolved Allison's dilemma. Great two-part episode.

So... Here's the short list:

Central Park - Gorgeous afternoon!

East Village/St. Mark's Place - Dinner at Kenka, a Japanese place. There were portraits of classic Japanese movie stars along the wall, and old Pachinko machines. Fun atmosphere, a huge menu (both in size and offerings), and make-your-own cotton candy for dessert - they give you a small cup of the sugar to pour into the machine.  I believe I will take DR MBarnum here the next time her visits NYC.

Union Square - A Toasted Marshmallow Milkshake at Stand

And, most importantly, I experienced all of the above with some friends - old and new.  *And since none of them had been to Stand before... After they had either the Toasted Marshmallow Shake or the Apple Pie Shake, well... "The Enabler" strikes again!

;)

*And the Apple Pie Shake is basically a piece of apple pie dumped into a blender with some ice cream and milk. Truly decadent and tasty.

Oh... And it does look like I'll be heading to Chicago for a "long weekend" visit this weekend.  Details to follow...

If you eat someplace that would be perfect for a wedding with about 40 guests, please let me know.

OK... I'm a little lost...

DR Jane - Where is the wedding? NYC or Chicago?

-Do you need an actual event space?  Or are you only looking for a place to have the rehearsal dinner and/or reception?

In either case, I could scout for a place here in NYC you.  And, as for Chicago, well, one of the friends I'm planning to visit this weekend is a VP with a local restaurant group...

After about week 2, I'd say yes.  She's said a lot worse than that, but  the person she is saying it to is being a manipulative bitch - and pretty much admitted as much Sunday night, so ...
