BTW everyone who was on Jose's Patented Food Tour,  the Vixter talks about it quite often and remarks how nice it was that a bunch of grownups treated her (and I quote) : "just like I was a person too, not just someone's kid!"

Very sweet.  Say hello from me.  :)

FJL, good news about Starfighter.  I received my CD and have it waiting in my car for me.  Now I just need a reason to take a drive.

Next week's show should be fun...Geena apparently gets some "leverage"!

Geena Davis has some of the nicest leverage now on display in prime time.   8)

Happy Annivarsary, BK and HHW!

Lo and behold, a few days later I got Bruce's very amusing questions which I tried to answer in the same attitude and style and subsequently wound up with the interview of mine I enjoy the most.

Explains why we found the interview so interesting.

Last night, DR Sandra posted:

"My name is apparently the result of a disagreement between my parents. They each wanted a different name, and since they couldn't agree, they named me Sandra."

So.  What name did they each want?

"Santiago" and "Ghidra"?

:D

The first day I posted was June 15, 2001, the 5th day of this site.  I recognize only three names from that day, JMK, Lolita and Robert Armin.

Penny was in LA & called me for Bruce’s phone number.  I gave her the home number but was compelled to search the internet for his new work number, which eventually led me here.

At the time I had no idea how my life was about to be enriched.  I have made so many new and wonderful friends and I will always cherish the support I received while going through difficult times.  To be a part of the lives of so many different and special people has been interesting, fun, often sad but I feel my life is richer for it.  And then there are the wonderful surprises such as knowing MBarnum’s brother.   Bruce it is very nice we now share more than a yearly Christmas card & a phone call every so often.

Thanks for the info, DR Ron. Is this aide a recurring character or is he a regular (i.e. do we see him every week and does he figure into any plotlines in a significent way)?

Headed downstairs now to clean the den and then settle in for some TV watching. Will return later this evening with some opinions on what transpires on LOST et al.

"ani" -- a crossword "solution" to the clue "cuckoo."

Yes, it is in the cuckoo family. So is the roadrunner.

Listening to the CD itself isn't reason enough?? ;)

All "they" have been saying about this weeks' weather is that it would be beautiful ALL WEEK.

Well...the skies are quickly becoming dark grey.  No blue anywhere.  No rays of sunshine peeking through.

No fluffy white clouds.

I think...yes, I do think...that....

Soon it's gonna rain.

(Oh, yes!) I can feel it.

Soon it's gonna rain.

(Oh, yes!) I can tell.

Soon it's gonna rain.

What are we gonna do?

Jane - If you listen to the Starfighter CD in your car, be warned:  You just may have the sensation of your car levitating halfway through Track #6.

If that doesn't get you to your car to listen, well, then I give up.  (I did say "may" though - that's not a money back guarantee.)

I was anticipating receipt of "The Last Starfighter" by today or tomorrow.

Today, I ordered the Harvey Schmidt CD, and discovered that "The Last Starfighter" was STILL IN MY CART.

I can't believe I didn't get further than my cart.  I remember logging into my PayPal account...but why I never finished the transaction I couldn't say. Oh, no.  I could not say.

The deed is now done.  So I can await both with fervid anticipation.  The fantabulous samples of Schmidt at the piano will have me salivating until that CD arrives.

There were many wonderful voices here in the earlier days, just as there are now.

Among them, Hapgood, Freedunit, William E. Lurie (who is still among us, but posts very seldom), and many others.

Even when the format changed, we had many folks who no longer post.

And where the heck is Emily, who used post frequently?

As BK says, it's like the Grand Hotel...people come, people go...

I was having a totally crappy, hateful day, but the column made me feel warm and fuzzy and inspired.  I am currently drinking a nice glass of Beaujolais, so I lift in in honor of how ever many years it's been.

Congrats, BK!  <cheers>

I found out about HHW through DH Noel, who left off posting some time ago due to some unpleasantness.  Perhaps someday he'll be back.  In the meantime, here I am.  :)

Oh, and I had a ham-chunks-and-cheese omelet for breakfast this morning.  Egg Beaters, lean ham, and 2% cheese, natch.  ;)

Hi all!  Remember me?

It seems I picked a good day to return with deep apologies for being E & T.

Many, Many, Many (that’s 3 manys!) Congrats to Bruce, Mr. Haines and the site!

I’m not 100% sure when I started posting.  I know it was around the time Juliana’s journal was being posted about on another board.  There was reference to another site so I believe I Googled something and somehow came up with the HHW.  I remember it was the old version of the site.

I also remember that I lurked for a good long time but liked what I read.  There just didn’t seem to be the fighting and flaming that goes on so many boards both then and now.  Then, one night someone was talking about Errol Flynn films.  Since Errol Flynn is a particular favorite of mine and I had never seen him discussed anywhere else, I decided to join the group.  I received a very warm welcome.

I also seem to remember DR Jane (I think it was Jane) was going in for a Cat scan and was a little concerned about it.  I had just had one the week before and I wanted to tell her that it wasn’t that bad.

DR Elmore was the first person I met, live and in person, from the HHW board.  He made my first trip to NY.  I can honestly say that if it wasn’t for him, I may never have gone back.

When the gathering in March of this year came up, I was a wee bit hesitate but oh, was I glad that I went!   When the “Girls Night Out with The Guys” for October came up, I knew I was there!

I’ve met some truly wonderful people and hope that I will be able to meet more of you next year!   :)
