For those who think my shameless shilling of eBates is ridiculous, let me simply say I just got notification my check for $282.44 (for the past quarter) has just been mailed to me.  This is ALL for day to day stuff I would have purchased anyway.

I always keep forgetting to use Ebates.com, DR JMK.

Me, too!  I've got to get in on this!

I am currently listening to a rather strange Stan Kenton two-fer which has everything from a slow, ballad version of Girl Talk to bizarre renditions of songs from Finian's Rainbow to a rather nice version of the Lullaby from Rosemary's Baby.

I remember DR William F. Orr helping DR Sandra with a math problem one time.

He was a Godsend to me when I was in college - he is such a patient teacher  - I was not one of his students BTW I did not attend his college either

He also has helped the Vixter enumerable times with her math homework over the years

I will say it helps to take advantage of eBates' Daily Doubles, when they double their cash back on specific vendors.  You can sign up for daily emails which tell you what that day's special offers are.

Slime Trails on My Pavilion is the name of my new recording featuring lounge versions of punk rock hits.

I would pay good money to hear that album!!

There's actually a great compilation album out called Lounge-a-palooza that I highly recommend.  Steve and Eydie's Black Hole Sun is gorgeous, and, no, that's not a joke.

Sad, especially on top of all the other losses this week.  93 though, not bad. :)

Sorry to hear about Jack Gottlieb and another name to a growing list.

Jack was a weird bird. When I first met him, it was in the beginning of the AIDS panic, with members of the Men's Chorus dropping like flies. He lived on West 79th Street, which was a short walk.  I'd go over to visit occasionally, snce we'd become friendly and he borrowed some books of mine. He was writing a book on the influence of Jewish music on popular American music, and he did a spectacular program one evening at the old Village Gate. Whenever I'd come to visit, Jack would get into these heavy "I-know-I've-got-AIDS-and I'm gonna-die" discussions, and then one day he made a big pass at me. I kept him at arm's length after that!

Obviously the on-set of his dementia.

I worked alongside(?) Mr. Laurents when he directed Hallelujah, Baby! down at Arena Stage, and during the final casting sessions for the revival of Gypsy with Patti LuPone. He was quite difficult during Baby! - he even requested that the trumpet player be fired. However, even though he was still quite set in his ways during Gypsy, I will say that I did notice a bit of "levity" in his demeanor. And I still remember him pulling aside the "second runner-up" for Dainty June to tell her why she was not going to get the part.

Kritzerland at the Gardenia 9 was fabulous last night! Mark and I both really enjoyed it. This was the fourth one we've been too, and in familiar fashion, this one didn't disappoint. I do remember someone saying, "key change" in the middle of a song, but I couldn't remember who or what song. Now I know, and I know why. Poor thing. The kid performances were great, complete with choreography and Alet Taylor was wonderful as well as hilarious. I missed hearing Damon Kirsch at this one, but Jason Graae was terrific, as usual. And we even got to hear Bruce sing a little! Actually, it would be nice if Guy Haines was added to the cast for a whole song. We miss his voice too. After hearing the two versions of "Dance a Little Closer," I must say, I think Guy Haines's version, which was performed at S.T.A.GE., was superior.

I heard that BK and Guy Haines have been feuding.

I would like you all to please start using the word 'pavilion' as much as possible, and preferably completely out of any comprehensible context, for the rest of the day.  Thanks in advance.

I will do so, if you can promise to fit my name into every review you write.

I did a mile and a half jog, I had lunch at Hugo's - more food than I should have eaten, probably - salad and pasta papa, but I didn't finish the salad or the pasta, so I'm probably okay and I think I'll take a walk later and work some more calories off.  Picked up several packages and have now listened to about two-thirds of the new master, which sounds amazingly amazing.  Because I leave on Monday morning, I may rush this announcement into tomorrow.

Got a fascinating packet today from Tamiment concerning my infamous Uncle, including a neat article on him published in THE NATION (my other Uncle--the Spy--got a 1962 cover story in THE NATION).  There was also a very snarky "bio" by a vet of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade.  Most interestingly, there was in IV with a rather famous NYC politician whom my Uncle got elected (he was his campaign manager).  This individual, who was one of the Executors of Charlie's estate, claimed that Charlie died deeply in debt with no assets and that it took him (the politician) two years to get the Estate out of debt.  How interesting then that Charlie's Estate, which includes a Trust to fund left-leaning artists, was valued at well over $10 million when my other Uncle died and my sisters and I were back in NYC dealing with all of this shtuff.

Happy Birthday to dear George - I hope your sister has made you a cake  -- or a pavilion

Thanks, Vixmom!  I don't know what dessert we'll have, but the family is getting together on Saturday and ordering pizza from a local pizza parlour called Dirty Dave's.  They're the best!

I thought you were going out to celebrate on Friday?
